3 game totals for this season: Passing: 41/65 (63%) 716 yards (238.7 yards per game) 10 TDs 1 INT Rushing: 31 carries 471 yards (15.2 yards per carry, and 157 yards per game) 10 TDs 1,187 total yards (395.7 per game) Career: 10,850 total yards Brock Berlin’s record total: 13,659 Yards needed to break Berlin’s record: 2,810 Yards per game needed to break the record in the regular season: 401.4 With one playoff game: 351.3 With 2 playoff games: 312.2 With 3 playoff games: 281.0 With 4 playoff games: 255.5 Rough night last night vs Ruston, but the numbers were still there: Rush 24 carries 186 yards 1 TD Pass 16/31 208 yards 2 TDs 5 INTs 396 total yards which is right on average (was 395.7), so pace is still basically the same. The yards per game is likely to take a hit next week. All due respect to Avoyelles, but the starters will likely play just a possession or two in the 2nd half.

Here's this Ruston fan's completely honest take: I love Ju'Juan Johnson and would hand him the Mr. Football award tomorrow without hesitation. I thought he deserved it last year. He is simply breathtaking to watch play in person, which I've had the pleasure of doing twice now. LCA is 0-2 in those games, so Ju'Juan probably doesn't want me coming around much more. Ruston harassed him all night and made him uncomfortable all game. I thought Geordan Guidry had a brilliant night, and Ju'Juan certainly doesn't want to see anymore of him, Ahmad Breaux, Jadon Mayfield and Zheric Hill after the past two years. They forced him to make bad decisions and bad throws, which led to five interceptions (one of which wasn't his fault as it hit off his receiver's hands). He was visibly frustrated all night. That said, he still compiled nearly 400 yards of offense and had the ball in his hands at the end of the game with a chance to win against the best defense in Louisiana. There was only one time in the entire game when I felt comfortable. That was late in the first half with Ruston leading 14-0. A couple of minutes later it was 14-12 and LCA was right back in it. I never felt comfortable in the second half, and when Ruston gave the ball back to Ju'Juan down 29-26, I thought for sure LCA was going to win or that we were headed to overtime at the least. But Ruston's defense made the biggest play of the night when it needed to as Peyton Bell sacked Johnson to set up 4th and long outside of field-goal range. Ju'Juan Johnson is one of the most dynamic players I've ever had the pleasure of watching. He's definitely in my top 10 and has a chance to end up among the top five that I've ever seen live with my own eyes. I don't think he's accurate enough as a passer to play quarterback at the Power-5 level, but I think he could be a lower-level FBS QB in the right system. I also think his best bet is to used his athleticism as a cornerback at LSU, where he will have a great chance of developing into an NFL player.

I think this entire post is spot on and what most people who have seen him, and saw last nights game, would also say. The only thing I would change in that post is that the first interception also had circumstances. It was 4th and 20 and he really had no choice but to throw it up and hope. And it basically became a punt. That said, and I think from reading your post you would agree, the fact that LCA had the ball at the Ruston 12 with less than a minute to play and were in a position to tie (or win) after throwing 5 interceptions (2 returned for TDs) had 15 penalties for 123 yards, and lost 2 of their starting D lineman (one that’s the best player on their defense) for basically the entire 2nd half…on the road, against that team…is a testament to what LCA is capable of with this year’s group. And you could say that was the worst game Ju’Juan has had, yet he still led his team on back to back TD drives in the 4th quarter and had them in position to win. They just came up short this time. He’s truly exceptional and certainly on a pretty short list of the best players I’ve seen in my 40 or so years of watching high school football.

Not much of an opportunity for Ju’Juan to put up big yards tonight. LCA only had 25 offensive snaps all night and scored 7 TDs (including snaps with Johnson not in the game at the end)
Stats tonight:
11/14 passing 233 yards 5 TDs 0 INTs
4 rushes for 29 yards
They did put him out there to return a punt for the first time in his career….and he returned it for a TD. But offsetting penalties cancelled the play, and he didn’t get another chance on the re-kick.
He now stands at 11,566 career yards of total offense and 2,093 yards from Berlin’s record.
5 regular season games to play, potentially nine total games left. Northside up next week

Another big night for Ju’Juan tonight in a 65-22 win over Northside
Passing: 26/33 324 yards 5 TDs
Rushing: 11 carries 97 yards 2 TDs
421 total yards and 7 TDs
He now stands just 1,673 yards from Berlin’s record with 4 regular season games to play, plus potentially 4 more in the postseason.

The trend is higher yardage totals against the better teams they play, and Teurlings, Westgate and STM are still left to play, along with North Vermillion If he keeps his normal pace over the last 2 years, he’ll break this record (13,659) by more than 1,000 yards and has an outside shot at 15,000 total yards with a run to the finals. Last night he passed former LCA (and current SLU) QB Zach Clement’s school record of 134 total TDs. Ju’Juan now has 138 with quite a few games left to go.

I want to make a correction to the tracking of this record. I am the statistician at LCA and at the beginning of this year realizing Jujuan could break this record we began the process of auditing with 3 separate statisticians to verify every yard that he recorded in his HS career. At LCA we are blessed to have livestreamed almost every game that he has played outside of Live televised games and state championship games, so we are able to view 3 different camera angles of each play to verify yardage and correct stats. With that being established, there was an error in a few games where his sacks where not taken away from his yardage as negative yards. We have since rectified that issue and corrected all stats throughout his career. We do not want him to be crowned as the record holder when it is not true YET. We have updated his MaxPreps account with all yardage up to this point in his career and can be found here: www.maxpreps.com/la/lafayette/lafayette-christian-academy-knights/athletes/jujuan-johnson/football/stats/?careerid=gdd3uoiu950tdHe still has a very good chance of breaking this record and I hope you all keep an eye and cheer this kid on as it truly is something special that is happening in THE STATE OF FOOTBALL.

So he’s 2,079 yards away at this point.
So he’ll need a couple of playoff games to break it, assuming he keeps a somewhat close pace.
Thanks for the update and info.

Ju'Juan had 324 Total Yards vs Teurlings tonight.
MaxPreps will be updated later this weekend as we always go back and watch the film to double check numbers to make them accurate as we play a fast paced offense and mistakes happen sometimes.
But as of tonight, 324 is our current total for this game.

Also another record we are tracking for Ju'Juan is closing in on the Louisiana Career Touchdown Record which currently as far as we have been able to find is Nick Brossette of U-High with 167 Total Career Touchdowns. Johnson is currently at 141 Total Career Touchdowns and counting. Last year he had 60 Total Touchdowns and currently already has 35 already this year after week 7 with more than likely at least 3 playoff games in sight. Quick Edit: All this is with Jujuan playing in 43 games in his career, where Brossette played for 5 years at U-High as he played up as an 8th Grader. Source for Louisiana Total Touchdown Record: www.stadiumtalk.com/s/most-touchdowns-high-school-football-history-27f0122c54ae4619I have spent many hours scouring the internet for anything we can find on this particular record and this is the only article i can find that will say definitively what the record is. This also seems to me to line up closely to this source: www.14-0productions.com/football-records.htmlWhich shows Brossette with the Career Total RUSHING Touchdown Record at 154, so assuming he caught a few TD passes each year, this feels very right. If someone has more information on this specific record please let me know.

These lopsided games are making Ju’Juan’s chase for this record more stressful than it needed to be.
Knights have had a running clock in 5 of the 9 games (Woodlawn, Avoyelles, Northside, Teurlings, and N. Vermilion) with 2 of those starting in the first half. And the starters came out in the 3rd quarter against Jesuit when up 51-10 (1 point from a running clock).
Starters also came out against Westgate when it got to 35-3, and Ju’Juan missed a little bit of time after getting dinged up near the end of the first half.
Acadiana and Ruston are the only games Ju’Juan (and the starters) have played the entirety of.
I think he still gets it (barring injury of course, God forbid) but it would be nice for that to have been over and done with before the meat of the playoff stretch. Now it looks like it likely won’t happen until the semis at the earliest and more likely in the finals…assuming of course, the Knights get there.
Either way, it’s been an exceptional career, and a ton of fun to witness it all. I just hope it’s over as soon as possible.

After Week 10 of the regular season, Here is where this stands.
Ju'Juan Johnson
Total Yards: 12,969 Yards
LHSAA Record: 13,659 Yards
Needed to break record: 691 Yards
With 4 games left if he goes to the State Championship, he would need to average: 173 Yards/Game

Unofficial stats show Johnson had 342 total yards tonight. He’s now just 350 yards short of breaking Berlin’s record.
He accounted for 3 TDs and is now also just 10 total TDs away from Nick Brossette’s all time TD record.
I was told that an LHSAA representative will be in attendance next week in anticipation of Johnson passing Berlin.
I REALLY hope he gets it done next week so it can happen at home. Or ED White needs to lose so a potential semifinals game would be at home if the Knights get past McDonogh 35 next week

Over the last 2 seasons, Johnson is AVERAGING 275.0 yards passing, 94.7 yards rushing and 4.52 TDs per game.
That’s become the “ho-hum” output. Not to mention spending a ton of time on the bench in the 2nd halves of games. And in games against the better competition, those numbers typically skyrocket.
It’s simply incredible what he’s done. Hopefully he has 3 more performances (that’s what they are). I’m certainly going to miss watching him play QB.
