Zachary enters the chat…. Then Zachary must not have an ENFORCED specific attendance zone. Otherwise their success would not be able to recruit success.
People moving into a zone makes them part of the zone and eligible to play so they are not part of the "battle that has been raging for years" to which I was replying..
By the way how many championship teams have been built on families pulling up stakes and selling their homes so they can move into another part of town or maybe even to a new town so their kid can play on a good football team?
That's not what caused the "battle that has been raging for years".. So look this is how it works for ANYONE who GETS players from OUT of zone. The kid is moved to the 8th grade school/ feeder school of the high school they wish to attend then bam!; They are eligible next year at the high school they wished to attend. What CAUSED the SPLIT is COMMON KNOWLEGE. When John Curtis and Evangel were FORCED to play in small classifications because the BIG schools were tired of getting BEAT by them; That is what destroyed the Lhsaa, because the listened to winey BIG schools who were losing to these football factories. When the LHSAA forced them to play all those small PUBLIC and PRIVATE schools in district and Playoffs the SPLIT was born. The votes were easily obtained because of how the LHSAA literally screwed everyone because of some CRY BABY schools that were tired of getting destroyed by Evangel and Curtis.

Now, they did change the transfer rule in 8th grade so they aren't eligible their freshman years anymore. That just took place this past season and already some selects are crying about it.

Not exactly true.. The 1 year attendance rule still applies. The LHSAA actually made it easier to transfer as a couple of years ago they allowed students who transfer as late as their freshman year the ability to play sub varsity. 1.13.4 Outside the Athletic Attendance Zone: Any student who attends a school outside his/her athletic attendance zone shall be ineligible to participate in interscholastic athletics at that school for a period of one calendar year from his/her first day of attendance unless he/she transfers under one of the following exceptions: 1. A first year 7th, 8th or 9th grade student who is transferring outside his/her athletic attendance zone shall be eligible to participate at the sub-varsity level only if the student has attended the first day of school. 2. The student continuously attended the entire 7th and/or 8th grades at a middle/junior high school of that same member school or school system located outside of his/her athletic attendance zone. The school shall be required to register and certify the student’s eligibility status on the Members’ Only website.

The LHSAA will never be able live down their laughable solution to the domination of big schools by Curtis and Evangel. Not in a hundred years.
Here is the LHSAA's "finest hour". First they came up with their very own rules that allowed Evangel and Curtis to legally build their powerhouse football programs. Then when they realized their own rules had created a monster and they started to take heat from the big schools what did they do to correct their mistake? They "solved" the problem of the two little schools consistently beating the big schools by moving them DOWN to compete against the little schools.
LOL! Yep, that's the ticket.

Not gonna lie, when Evangel came into our district, I didn't have a problem with it, cause I remembered the battles we had in the 90s. But when they came to Haynesville that 1 time in the mid 2000's and beat us 50-0, I knew they were on a completely different level and couldn't wait for em to move back up😂😂. Now, I'm one of those old school fools who don't care who we play or when we play em, but, some small schools, in this day in time, are out of our league. Lol.

I’ll never understand why people complain about recruiting or “stealing” kids. Did your program or school do whatever it takes to invest in your program. Kids often don’t leave successful programs, but they seem to leave subpar ones. Just because a kid lives somewhere shouldn’t mean you get them by default. I don’t blame parents who want better.
