To the powers at West Monroe.
I have been (sometimes overly) critical of the direction of the football program over the past 10 years or so. I am here to humbly apologize to the current administration and coaching staff for what I termed "lackadaisical" in their approach to scheduling games that would prepare the kids for the playoffs and give them the best opportunity to compete. This 2024 schedule took some effort, especially filling the open date and having to move games around. WM's willingness to take some challenging road games is a huge step toward the anyone, anywhere mentality that built this program in the beginning. I applaud the effort and humbly apologize to anyone I may have offended. I love my alma mater and only want the best for those who currently attend; I owe much to the time I spent at WM and wouldn't trade my experience for anything. I will be proud to offer my support and am ready to road trip this Fall

That anywhere, anytime mentality sure helps when you have the dawgs on the field. WM has to find some speed somewhere in the hall ways. with 2200+ kids in that school, it has to be there.

They are making the steps necessary to become kings again.
The players deserve it and the coaches want to prove it. If you can't get behind this then you just don't care.
Excitement will start brewing once again in the program.

Excitement will start brewing once again in the program. I have always said "let it be decided on the field" lets see what happens. I'm still giving Davis 4 yrs , not including last yr. He was caught up in the middle of the "dumpster fire". Hope you guys are right.

I will be the first to say, win or lose these games this season, in no way can you find anything negative unless it is internal. Playing hard games and going on the road like this will ONLY make WM better and that program sooner rather than later. I hope Davis is the guy for this challenge. And good for him and good for this staff to challenge themselves and their team. Win or lose if it is truly team and unified. If the X's and O's fails you won't know for years. People could have ran Baugh out himself for those schedules even when they weren't technically ready as a program to be elite. They went 5-5 and took an butt-whipping on a Saturday at Rummel in 2019 and against Karr in a scrimmage i believe in 2021. Patience and now they are a state power again. No one lost their mind in 2019 going 5-5, and they also almost beat zachary at home in the quarterfinals that year. There is zero that can go wrong challenging your team and program. If the coaches fail as just not being the right guys and it is found in 4 years it just didn't work you shake their hands and thank them for challenging themselves and helping put the program in a situation to succeed. I hope that entire staff goes and shines like ruston. Now Neville, you are on the clock. Want to get out of the second round or quarters in 5A? Better start playing a tougher schedule. Or, you will get passed up as well soon. Maybe as soon as next season as WM will be well prepared by district time having played these squads on the road.

Kudos to the staff for making the schedule better. Now the next thing they have to do search the halls for more talent. Shows had to do that. Yes there's talent there not playing just look at the basketball and baseball teams. They may not all play but if you get a few your better off than you were. It doesn't hurt to ask.

I do not expect WM to win all these games and that's OK... at least they are trying to challenge themselves. You have to play these games, become competitive and maybe sneak out a win... that's how every championship program does it. We will know soon if Davis is the man by how well the Rebs improve week to week, and year to year. Looks like he is trying to do his part and now it's up to us fans to get behind him... I'm in

Tannehill is sitting on a very hot seat. I am guessing he keeps a cupcake schedule and gets beat in the 2nd or 3rd round yet again. Has Neville released a schedule?

Not released yet but Pineville is the only cupcake. Every other game on the schedule should be 4 quarter games instead of running clocks.

Good coaches do it. It's one of the first things shows did. He got some good players that way. You have to get your in house talent first. Trust me all the best athletes are not playing football.

Well I was wrong. Looks like Neville has a very tough schedule. Neville and West Monroe stepping up! I must be corrected myself as well. Sounds like this areas big horses finally are seeing the light as Ruston fast passes them up. Neville, truly has had zero excuses. Beyond WM even. They are contenders who only play 1 or 2 meaningful games a year before playoffs and then fold in tight games. Very similar to WM even. Scheduling, IMO, is as important as any other part of being a coach. Especially traveling on the road a few times a year into a hostile environment. In fact I believe it is an absolute must for the most part in todays game. I believe if WM and Neville both can find a QB they like and develop this spring and summer they both could make a big run next season. I truly don't know who the guy will be at WM. I agree wholeheartedly with the poster speaking about the most talent not even playing football at WM. That is a fact. Absolute. There is an athletic QB with skills walking the halls. I see and know of a few. They don't play. My nephew being one. He would be the likely starter next year had he continued playing. But, he won't. And, since he has been out of the sport for the last few years he shouldn't. There are two basketball players who would be incredible QB talents had they started earlier before their sopre years this year in which they did not play. Neville, they arent' quite as fortunate in this regard. They pull the talent out of that school very well. They just don't have anyone I know of for the first time that is a legit talent at the spot physically. They will be hard pressed to develop one this season. It would be the difference between a title and not winning a title. They have that good of players returning everywhere else. Plus, their offense has had no real identity for years now. Id say as far as 5 years back or more. They have issues far more than just finding a QB, but they have the players and personnel on the OL, RB, TE, WR to do just about anything they wish to build their base offense out of and be great at. Without a QB talent being a pass oriented offense will be very difficult. WM has the talent and physical bodies to be great at just about any offense they want. I look forward to seeing Davis build this animal back to where it absolutely should be as a program. People who believe they don't have the bodies to be great every year just don't know anything about WM and the demographics. They are there. Let's see how it unfolds.
