wrong, The University of Louisiana Systems gave them their name. ULM And ULL. they are just two schools in the University System of about 9 universities. I could be wrong with that number but it is close. The Universities did not get to pick their name like parents pick the name of their offspring. A lot of people care about this fraud on the part of ULL No you are in error, I was there, Ray Authermont then President of USL, pushed and chose the name after a student referendum approved the name change. The UL System has no say in what a school is named. McNeese is a UL system school, and tomorrow if the university wanted to change it's name to Ryan Street Normal College they could do it. The other members of the UL System are UL-M, Grambling, Louisiana Tech, Northwestern, Southeastern, Nichols and UNO. There are more students and graduates in this system than in the LSU system and there are over 16,500 degrees earned through this system yet it receives about 35% the total university funds. LSU gets 50% and Southern gets 15%. . I believe you to be incorrect sir lol. Pretty sure the board of regents decided ULL could not use the Name Louisiana as they absolutely should not be. It really is sad the way ULL drops to this level of patheticness to scrap for relevance

ULL changed their mascot from Ragin Cajuns, to Louisiana’s Ragin Cajuns to try and one up the board of regents. If you were right their name would be UL, but the fact is it is UL-L

The University of Louisiana Systems has the ultimate control of the universities. If ULL had their way they would be called LSU they by changing their name feels this puts them equal to LSU. LSU is the flag ship University ULL that is just the way it is. Indy is correct. The Board of Regents keeps the power not the individual universities.

Maybe they should consider The University of Alabama (at Lafayette La)! It will surely help their recruiting and definitely help their effort in trying to be equal to LSU. A-La-La!

usually it's the main (or flagship) campus that uses the name of the university "system", great examples all around us (i.e. Texas, Arkansas). If you say "Texas or Arkansas" no one would think you're referring to the campus in San Antonio (UTSA) or Monticello (AM)... that is the same image ULL is trying to portray. that they are the flagship campus for the University of Louisiana and ULM is a regional campus. Simply isn't so, sorry to burst the Cajuns bubble
