Hasn't played, starters are back. Run hard but no room to run. 28-7,8:48 left in the first half. Jena scored on first down again. They have picked the qb 3 times

Even as a rival it feels weird seeing winnfield this down. Not used to that at all.

Jena will need to work on a consistent pass game but the jones is a stud in the backfield for the Giants

To me we look stronger they still have some things to work on but its week 1. We are talented as long as we stay healthy we should fare pretty well. Our coaching staff has built a program and hopefully can keep this momentum going.

Scrolling through this thread it looks like Winnfield must’ve played a little bit better in seconds half. Maybe they just weren’t focussed early on. I’m sure they’ll be fine.

Backups played the entire 2nd half for jena I was about to say I'm sure that is more of a result of Jena clearing the bench, or as we use to say putting the roody-poo's in lol.

Winnfield kept their starters in the second half. I guess the coach wanted to get them experience? Down 42-7 at the half I was really surprised we didn't go to a running clock

Other than that is looked like starters the entire time

Winnfield looked better than last year to me. They still have a ways to go to compete with many but they should do ok the rest of the way

Jena will go 10-0 against cupcakes. Be a top-ranked team at the end of the year and still lose in the first round.

The schedule this year is pretty soft. That's a product of the entire cenla area being down. Last year the only reason they lost in the first round is because they couldn't practice the entire week of the playoff round because of the flu. I think we had something like 50 of the 72 players sick that week. That makes it difficult to compete.

Playing Winnfield and Rayville wk 1 and 2 would’ve been great competition not long ago. Hard to predict teams falling so hard. They will have their hand full with ash, as they should.

Like ferriday for instance, they were loaded to the Max last. While they did under achieve tremendously they still had a great season. This year will be a totally different story. Back to reality.

Did anyone else find it bush league that the Tigers decided to go for two out of the swinging gate against Jena Jv that late in a game? Good thing Coach Jay Roark had some class!

I think Jena's toughest tests will be ASH and Marksville this year, but Rayville is always fast and usually has talent. When making the schedules it is hard to guess if a team is going to be good or not. Look at Grant last year, they were returning two very good backs and a lot of people said they were going to make noise in their district in 4A, they ended up 1-9 and were't competitive in any of the losses except the opener against 1A Montgomery. Another example that comes to mind was ASH last year, they had a couple of D-1 recruits and a few other prospects, they never got it going and ended up 4-6.
