There were 3 high school football games last night in New Iberia and none bought a win home. CHS loss to ND but the same thing happened last year and we won in the playoffs so not an exact science as to how things will play out. Westagte loss. Just played a better team. Have a 4 star receiver doesn't automatically make you a winning team and last night proved that. Overrated? Two kids got hurt on Westgate. Maybe it they'd stop telling kids to hit helmet to helmet they wouldn't get hit and hurt helmet to helmet. Just my thoughts. Every game they play there is at least one helmet to helmet penalty. NISH poor poor NISH. There are definitely play makers on the team but there are no play callers.on the sideline. They need an entirely new coaching staff or at least give someone with a passion to win the drivers seat. A 5A school making one TD in 3 games? This is a disgrace and it stems from bad coaching.

Westgate had two players get hurt that were carrying the ball. You can't control how the other team tackles.

You have to go with the players who are available to suit up, but it bears mentioning that Westgate has been without starting quarterback Mar'keyvrick Eddie (Western Kentucky offer) and star RB Tyreese Jackson (top 30 player in the state) for almost the entire year.
Eddie hasn't played since the first half vs. Catholic High. He completed every pass and ran for a 38-yard touchdown before exiting with a separated shoulder. Still hasn't returned to the lineup.
Jackson didn't play in the second half of week one. He didn't play at all in weeks two or three, and saw limited action against Captain Shreve. He was very effective vs. Shreve and averaged more than nine yards per carry on limited touches. He's still nowhere near 100%.

Assembly Christian won Thursday night. I covered the game. Even though it's 8 man football, Dwight accomplishes a ton with the players he has available.

People don't understand that fact and most of them live in a fantasy world. It's easy to say "Next man up", but there is always a drop off when your key players are injured. On the topic of NISH, they are heading in the wrong direction and everyone wants to blame the coach. However, they lack in support from the outside. Their youth program has dwindled down to nothing with the people running the program. They even offered to turn it over to us last year then begged us to go play them once our season was over. Our youth program is growing like crazy. The Red School has a youth program that's 5th grade & up with some of their 8U kids on my team. The New Iberia Tigers youth program players will end up at Westgate in the future. NISH will never improve until the community gets involved and helps.

This really sucks to hear about this area. New Iberia is really a hidden gem of talent in Louisiana. Unfortunately for them it just doesn’t seem to be much in the form of direction.
Westgate used to always be a 5-5,6-4 team and always find a way to be in the quarterfinals or semis. Btw, not sure Boutte justifies his ranking but he can surely run

According to the Lafayette Paper Breaux Bridge and Westgate have 13 D1 prospects. Both were supposed to be deep depth wise and make a run far into the playoffs. Well we still have a few weeks left to see if that will happen because as of now it surely wont.

Their top RB has played six total quarters. They’re small on the lines and have had problems stopping the run, especially with giving up long runs.

Westgate QB Mar'keyvrick Eddie returned for the first time since the first half of week one to throw three touchdown passes in a 47-22 win over Patterson. RB Tyreese Jackson went for 150-plus yards on the ground and junior wide receivers Kayshon Boutte and Makholven Sonn each accounted for two touchdowns. OLB Keith Lopez had a pick-six to put the game on wraps. Patterson RB/QB Dajon Richard ran for 268 yards and three touchdowns, including an 80-yard burst, and tacked on a two-point conversion. He's a UTSA commit.

Jeanerette @ Ascension Episcopal Delcambre vs Franklin Highland Baptist @ Central Catholic Is St Martinville that good or is it a little fools gold Haven't seen them in person but it may be a fools gold. NISH, Lafayette, Comeaux, & Northside are not good teams. Only tests for the rest of the year will be Livonia, Opelousas, and Breaux Bridge.
