Some of y’all can find fault with anybody. Who cares what his woman looks like? Go look at your own old lady. Tell them Clean. Who is in charge of a age cutoff? Who died and made this forum an age judge. Legal is legal in my opinion and it should be in every other persons opinion. Give this guy a break. The principal was obviously out to get him

This is what coach left the team for them since he couldn't speak to them. Well guys, I hate that it had to end this way. I would have loved to be able to go out on my own terms. This morning I was forced to resign as your head coach. It was one of the worst experiences of my life and I hate that I had no say in it. But life isn’t fair. And this brings adversity into my life and into yours. How you deal with the adversity makes you the men that you are and the men that you will become. I was forced to resign today because Of Insubordination. Our principal told me I was not allowed to get any of my family, friends, or supporters sideline passes on the sideline in the superdome. I went ahead and did it anyway because they’ve been there for me and for you guys through it all so I thought they deserved that right. She said she got tons of complaints about this and felt embarrassed and betrayed by me. I was forced to turn in my keys and clean out my office. I wanted you to hear exactly why directly from me. I don’t agree with it and I don’t think it’s right by any means but that’s neither here nor there and it’s time for a new challenge for all of us. You will get a new coach and I will get a new team. It’s life it’s not fair. But in times of adversity you always continue to fight and champions will prevail, and you guys are champions. I wanted to do this in person but I was not given the opportunity to do so. I was forced to leave immediately. So I’m getting coach DJ to give you the Talk I wanted to give you. I want to thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart for the best 4 years of my very short career. The friendships and respect that we share for one another is like no other and it’s truly hard for me to put it into words. I love each and every one of you guys like a brother. You all have my number if you want to reach out I am always just a text or phone call away and there is nothing that I wouldn’t do for you guys. If you ever need anything don’t ever hesitate to ask. This has truly been the funnest 4 years that I could have ever imagined having in coaching. Back to back trips to the dome. Are you kidding me? Double digit wins in back to back seasons. We put ascension Catholic on the map. And it’s all because of you guys. Thanks for always fighting for me and going to battle each and every Friday night and playing as hard as you can for your coaches. That means the world to us. You seniors are going to be super successful in life and I can’t wait to follow each and every one of your careers. Underclassmen, I will follow you guys closely and will always be pulling for you guys to get the W every Friday. Thanks for everything you guys have given me over the last 4 years. I can truly never repay you guys for this. You all mean the world to me. I love you. Coach Drey. FACTS!!!

Isn’t he around 28? He’s not married. Dating a grown woman. What’s the cutoff? It would be okay if she was 20? I hear you. And if he was an assistant coach, it is a different look. But you are talking about your head coach dating someone who he was an authoritative figure to months ago before they started dating. You have to think from an administrator side. Not flying with them. If she didn't go to AC. This is a non story. I'm objective here but understand the administration's point of view. If your head coach is using the students as a market to date after they graduate. Again, not a good look. This is not the case though so this post is irrelevant.

I guess none of you are high school principals for a reason. If you don't see fault in your head coach dating students that just graduated from a private school you just don't have any base for teacher student morals. When do you know it really started? Does he see students or under age girls he wants to date when he works? How do you know he isn't flirting with students to prepare when they graduate? Again, as if any of you are actually listening. I don't think there is anything actually wrong with what he is doing. However, when you make a decision as the head football coach to date a student from a private school that just graduated months ago be prepared to lose your job. No administration wants to have to answer from a parent why is our head coach dating someone who was in my daughter's class last year.

Nope not a burner account my kid attends AC and has been treated very well by Coach Drey. You are talking out of both sides of your mouth, you are saying he isn’t doing anything wrong and the next sentence you are saying he did. Make up your mind, are you a politician??

So since when does insubordination carry a termination punishment? Should’ve at least been given a written reprimand first. Especially since he’s a great football coach.

Because I don't think it's wrong to date a 19 year old at any age, it is legal. However everything changes when you are a head football coach at a private high school. You are held to standards of bureaucrats and administration that think differently. People have been let go for a lot less in the coaching profession. He will be fine but I think he is being young and naive for thinking dating a former student from the spring of this year would not affect his job.

Coach, why the silence? Why did you decline the evening WAFB interview request? Why did you decline The Advocate's follow up to the breaking story of "14 point contract"? Because it is all hogwash. You had a chance to walk away with dignity but you chose not to. You chose to fabricate a story to destroy a school who gave you a chance, they didnt deserve this.

Just because you think you are involved at AC doesn’t mean you are hearing truths. Mudslinger you are a complete clown. Lets be the most talkative and talk strong and sound important maybe they will take me seriously. You have 0 facts... so do us a favor and shut up!

It’s a community (like a lot of Louisiana communities) that are corrupt and controlled by a few rich people. It’s just the culture of that town and they don’t want anyone coming in who is young, parties, but follows legal rules, and has no good moral views (to those people’s syandards) coming into that town and controlling their school and football team.

That is one of the most asinine things I've heard in quite some time. We can agree to disagree but to say a Catholic School should not hold its coach (or staff) to a high moral standard is absurd. Try again.

about the contract, the principal was probably hoping they would be a .500 team.
yes, i can believe some principals don't want their teams to be TOO good... if you want your school known for academics, or the drama program, or whatever, good sports teams take the focus away from those groups. some people use winning teams to make jokes about school demographics changing that certain money people may not like to hear.
on tigerdroppings, it was postulated that running up scores unnecessarily affects relationships with schools that AC depends on being able to play.

I don’t agree with the coach’s personal life being brought up as a reason for termination. When I criticize a coach it’s specifically based on football. I would never attack a man’s personal life. That’s bogus.

I saw the game. I'd bet those same boosters (or some of them and parents) that the admin didn't want on the field are the same SOBs that put up and took down that big butt inflatable bulldog the team runs through. Unless the principle was upset she didn't get to do it? I didn't see coaching staff doing it. Maybe some of them were in street clothes. Doubt it.
Whole thing seems to me that the admin had personal issues with the coach and just used the sideline pass thing as a way to get rid of him. As far as the 14 point "contract", I read that in the original Advocate article as coach just sharing that to show how cookoo they are.
Glad my kids don't go to school there! I can only imagine the silliness going on we don't know about. Whoever is over that administration needs to think hard over this entire situation. Good leadership would not have let it get to this point.

From the little I still know of AC I don’t believe that is the case. The cross-country team won multiple state titles, same with track. Baseball has been a classA power for a long time and won last year. Softball had also been a power. All of this since she has been administrator. Don’t see her having that school of thought. I’ve seen her at every AC sporting event I’ve gone to. I trust what fan55 said, people are looking for a smoking gun when in reality I doubt there is one. Seems like it was just a difference of philosophy. In some situations there are no good guy/bad guy. I don’t fully trust the news article as there are many in the media that will twist someone’s words to create a story, create interest. It’s a good school. Not perfect but a good school. Might be moving closer to D’ville due to work and if so I’ll definitely be sending my son to Ascension Catholic High School.

Let me be clear that I'm glad my kids don't go there specifically due to the current administration. Nothing to do with the parents or kids of the school. My limited experience with D'ville residents is very positive. And those kids on the team represented the school with class and dignity, after a heartbreaking loss. That's credit to the parents and the coaches, including coach Drey that's being made to look like a devil by some people.

My son is in a public school now. Would have no issues sending him to MSA, Brusly or St John, all of which are solid schools. I would choose Ascension Catholic because it is a good school. Trust me, I am very familiar with the current administration. She was actually the person that ended my career at AC. In retrospect she made the correct descision then. I have been treated with utmost respect since then from the AC family.

Even heard Ole Mike Detiller on the radio this morning ripping on the administration. Said it was an ego driven decision.
