Now that we are officially In 2019 who will be your surprise team of 2019? Not necessarily a state contender but a team you think could surprise?

I’m obviously biased but I honestly think Ascension Christian could be a surprise team.
Program is much better than it was when we last played district teams (before we were blackballed) Not saying we are going to pull off any massive upsets but I believe we are going to be competitive every week.
With the talent returning we have a decent shot to have a great offense and with returning players who missed 2018 with injuries we might have enough pieces to make a run to the playoffs.
Culture has definitely changed, just need to get over the hump now.

I think Central is going to surprise people next year personally. They were extremely young the last two years but have great talent. Also Fountainbleau in 5A. Captain Shreve shouldn't fall too far with all they have returning also.

With their schedule could definetely see Ascension taking a step. Can’t discount Broadmoor either with the hiring of Crutch

before I mention this team: I have no idea what their schedule is next year or who's returning and who they're losing, I just know they put out a solid team every year and they're one of the better Division IV programs as of late...While they probably won't get the boost of winning their district since Lab, even after losing TD and KT, has to be the favorites, Catholic High of Point Coupee could definitely surprise some people and finish closer to 4 or 5 in the ranking than 9 depending on if some things go their way.

Yeah it’s definitely going to be interesting to see if CHPC can knock us off. We’re losing a lot. This will be a rebuilding year for us. Jabar Triplett is a great player. Theodore Knox is the #2 ranked player in Louisiana in the 2021 class. Our coaching has to improve. That’s our biggest issue.

Don’t see any surprises next year. Maybe after next year but more it changes more it stays the same next year. Cycle may end after 2020

I agree with all of these Ok since a few people say there may not be many surprises this year, I’ll take it a step further what team new to the Lhsaa this year will make the most noise

The most talented one will probably be Crescent City Christian since they'll probably have the best skill players (they were a really good basketball school at the class...I think it was C?...level, so that either means I'm right about the skill players...or they'll be another North Central) but Crescent City will also be in a district with West St John, Riverside Academy, and Metairie Park Country Day. That being said...they're the team I'd put my money on to be the best team moving up into LHSAA football for the first year this year, even though they'll probably be 4th or 5th in their own district and I don't know what their schedule is.

I could not agree more I actually watched a couple of their games this year now I know it was only sub varsity but they looked really impressive and are extremely talented I don’t know if they can play weekend and week out in that district but they definitely have some talent just low numbers. A few other ones I would keep an eye on our thrive Academy out of Baton Rouge, Kenner Discovery, and even Livingston Collegiate.

Bold Prediction:
District 3/4-2A Standings after week 10:
1: Avoyelles 2: Bunkie 3: Winnfield 4: Many 5: Red River 6: Lakeview 7: Menard
You heard it here, first. Theres a new sherriff in town, and his name is Andy Boone. Cant wait to watch my Mustangs dominate in this district for many years to come. The road to a district championship runs through Moreauville, this year.

Avoyelles is a gimmick team that will never have success in that scheme he runs. This district will probably be as follows: 1. Many
2. Red River 3. Menard 4. Avoyelles 5. Bunkie 6. Winnfield 7. Lakeview
Many is so far ahead of everyone is this district it isn't even funny.

I found Avoyelles head coach’s FB page.
I like that he supports rescue dogs. 👍🏿

As far a scheme and success Avoyelles has beaten Jena 7 out of the last 10 years so I'm sure Roark isn't upset Avoyelles is taking their gimmicks to another district.

The Mustangs will be ready to play smashmouth football by the time district comes around. Everyone else better buckle up tight

With a new QB making his first start, and without our top 2 runningbacks and wide receiver, we still had a chance to win that game. If you had played us at full strength on offense, it would have been a similar outcome as the year before...

You took a lot of time out to pull that up. Pretty sure Jena would be happy to play Avoyelles every year.
