BTW is a good team. Saw them against Port Allen. Was a close game throughout.

White Castle not making it to the top 28 makes 1A the only class where someone I put as a "favorite" isn't in the top 28 and only one of two overall who didn't make it (as in the other case, the favorites I listed played against each other). Also, side note, while I stand behind what I said about 5A and seeding, I'm starting to think I underestimated Thibodeaux.

I have not seen Lake Arthur play. Their schedule is weak compared to Port Allen. Lake Arthur only played 4A or 5A 2 times. Port Allen played 4A or 5A 16 times this year.
The lower class teams Port Allen played were mainly good also: Madison Prep, Riverside, De La Salle, Dunham, White Castle, U High, Southern Lab. The 5A teams and 4A teams they played were good.
Coach Jones knew what he was doing scheduling all those teams. They lost quite a few games, but played legit teams.
Not taking Lake Arthur lightly, but give me the Pelicans to face Rayville.

Our schedule was weak compared to Amite, Ferriday and Delhi Charter as well. We split with the #4 team in 2a. Beat the #3 team in 2a. Not taking Port Allen lightly but give me the Tigers to face Rayville.

3A final four is loaded. Sophie B Wright, Peabody, Wossman, and Madison Prep.
Scotlandville vs Catholic. Walker vs Ouachita Parish. Bossier vs Carencro. Dunham vs Riverside. Man those are high power matchups.

I'm just talking a little smack lol. I do respect Port Allen they are always tough. What kind of speed and size do they have?

I'd definitely slide both them and North Central in there. I wish I could go see that game and others, but I have stuff to take care of during this upcoming week

I think this might be Jonesboro’s year. I also could see Lincoln Prep knocking off White Castle if they’re on same side of the bracket. 1-1A is dangerous throughout. I've seen White Castle play a few times this year. This year's team isn't as strong as some of their past teams. It looks like Booker T. Washington will be in their bracket at #8. That could be a dogfight if they play in the third round. In the last three weeks of the season BTW knocked off Metarie Park Country Day and Port Allen.
By the way, it looks like Lincoln Prep (#5) will be in the same bracket as Delhi (#4). They should meet in the third round. Can Lincoln Prep beat Delhi?
I'm not gonna say I called because I didn't but this was not a strong White Castle team.

No real size. Tallest player that plays is 6"2 or 6"3, if they are being nice. Most of their players are between 5"11 and 6"1. Jalen Knox is the only player that really plays in the post. He is not a starter normally. Freshman. Solid player.
Point guard Towasky Johnson is fast and can jump. They go 9 deep. I don't remember more than 3 times this year any player scoring 20. Not a high scoring team at all. They are fast and aggressive.
They play really good defense. When they go full court defense the Pels are tough. G. Franklin can shoot, especially from the corner. They like to say G for 3.

We should match up well with each other. Our tallest starter is 6'0 but he can out jump anyone. He gave Devonta Lee fits tonight. Our tallest player is 6'3, we only usually go about 7 deep. I have not seen a team faster than us all year including Amite tonight.

I'm pretty sure Kipp is lead by a couple of highly touted freshmen. Hopefully, they can keep them for the long term.

Can I just say, what a comeback that was at the end of the game against SU Lab. Knew it would be close, and the game surely delivered. (I followed along with Stoute's updates on Twitter btw)

Hearing online podcast and seeing people talk on Facebook it looks like no one is giving us a chance Monday. I'm loving it!!! I went to the Lake Arthur-Ferriday game. I haven't seen Port Allen play but from what people who have seen them play told me and what I've read about them (brprepfan posts) these two teams are a lot alike in that they don't have much size but are athletic and play hard.
If I'm not mistaken I think brprepfan said Port Allen goes 9 deep. It was just one game and I may have missed something but I didn't see a 9 deep roster for the Tigers when they played Ferriday. That might give Port Allen an edge but the great thing about sports is that games aren't played on paper. They are played, in this case, on the court (an arena in this case). I'll be there pulling for the Tigers.
By the way, I've seen some great Lake Arthur basketball over the years - from the days of Auldon Robinson and those matchups for the ages with Welsh in the early 80s (Auldon was a beast), to that early 90s team that fell to North Central in Lebeau with a shot at the Top 28 (one of the best high school games I have ever witnessed, if not THE BEST), to Kurt Simon and his smooth game in late 90s/2000s. That's just mentioning a few.

Yeah we don't go 9 deep we normally go 7, every once in a while we will go 8. It hasn't been a problem all year though, we very rarely have anyone foul out and no one seems to ever get tired.

I have followed Port Allen pretty close since 2006. This team is not the best team they have had, in fact it is not even in the top 4 teams. 2008, 2013, 2014 and 2015 were better. That was before split. They lost to Richwood 3 times and U High once. In playoffs. They had division I talent, in fact professional talent on those 4 teams. I went to 2014 and 2015 games. I did not go in 2008. I would say 2008 or 2014 team was the best team. In 2014 4 of the 5 players played in college, and the other player got a track scholarship for high jump. Nick Parker (Loyola) Ishmael Lane (Northwestern St.) Nigel Allen (Western Texas) Josh Walker (Community college in Kansas) Telson Allen (state champ high jump at 6 ft 10)
I don't think any senior on this team will play college.
This year they do not have the same talent level. This team plays extremely hard and is really good at defense. Lake Arthur can surely beat them, but I am biased and I will say Port Allen will win. They only have one real shooter, which will be a problem I am sure. I will be watching on NFHS. Cant make it for 8:00 game. Would not get home until 1:00 am.

Lake Arthur has a absolute bull down low, only around 6'2" but I'm telling you he will out hustle anybody for a rebound. #23 plays exactly like Dennis Rodman and is extremely strong. Last season as a sopre he had around 5 games with over 20 rebounds. I haven't seen the box score for Amite, but he probably had around 15 and that's around his average this year. He's definitely one to look out for.

It looked like North Central was out of it when Hodge went up by 15 late in the 3rd but then (it seems) a Hurricane hit Burton Coliseum. Epic choke job by J-Hodge.
North Central wins 60-54
