Can someone please explain to me the criterion for determining who hosts playoff games? I thought I had a grip on it but apparently not.

I kinda get that part but was told in basketball only that the higher seeded team hosts the quarterfinal game regardless of who has traveled the most

I kinda get that part but was told in basketball only that the higher seeded team hosts the quarterfinal game regardless of who has traveled the most Yeah that’s true. Changed within the last 2 or 3 years. J-Hodge girls are in that situation right now after upsetting North Central, they have to travel again to Delhi for Round 3.

Couldnt possibly be something as simple and logical as highest seeded team always hosts

LaGrange, Ouachita, and Walker will all be playing their 3rd consecutive home playoff game this week in 5-A.

Couldnt possibly be something as simple and logical as highest seeded team always hosts I agree in the sense that the team who earned it and got it done in the regular season should be rewarded with home games throughout. That could be ALOT of traveling though for a team that has to travel from north to south La., or vice versa each week. That would be much easier if teams played regionally first then expanded outward from there. That however, would not secure the best teams making it to the finals.

The other issue you face with trying to create regional match-ups is that the LHSAA can't even fill out most of their brackets due to the split. Quarterfinals and Semifinals would also be filled with many weaker teams causing even bigger blowouts in bigger games. Wouldn't make for exciting matchups. The rules help with the travel a bit because teams receive money from the gate to help cover travelling costs. That alleviates some of the pressure on the schools that have to travel quite a bit. I believe though that the higher seeds should have the advantage of getting to host their games.

it says in Section 3.C "In the sport of basketball, the higher seeded team shall be the home team" and that's under the quarterfinal round. so the how many away games don't matter in basketball in the quarterfinals
