I would think that the two main problems of money and lack of support would be prevalent here. It would be nice to have a coach at least before summer begins.

Word on the skreet is applicants are few for either job. Teaching duties and inability to hire assistant coaches are scaring away everyone.

What are the teaching duties? If you want a good head coach, teaching duties need to be right.

That's a schedule set up by a coach who knows hes about to leave and want Rayville to have a terrible season. Shows NO RESPECT for the kids you just coached!

I feel bad for the new coach... Game 1 - Calvary which is senior loaded and those kids have been in WARS together since they were sopres. Game 2 - Oak Grove - perennial contender and killer Game 3 - Union Parish - tough as nails and will grind you to death Vidalia - tough team to beat. I don't know much about them but have heard they can play with anyone. Game 8 - Notre Dame - this team can play with any team in the state.

I disagree with you because Coach Bursey has always played a tough non-district schedule.

Here is something that really concerns me if I was interviewing for this football head coach position. Where is the basketball coach in all of this? In small schools in a rural community EVERYONE HELPS EVERYONE yet I have not read nor heard of anything mentioned about the basketball coach. He just won a state championship. What is his role in the school? Does he have an interest in helping the football program? Does he share players, etc...etc.... etc....

If I am not mistaken, the basketball coach and the principal are related, so that could potentially be a negative, or a positive I guess. I cant say if players or shared or not, but I can tell you it seems like there is very little interest in either the Rayville or Delhi job and it seems as though no one is overly concerned. Sad for the kids.

If I was interviewing for that position I would be darn sure to have the basketball coach in there as well for some reassurance at least. If there is no cooperation between the sports at least at the basic level then there would be no reason for ANYONE to take that job. And... If there are that many classes thrown on the head football coach, he has to be the athletic director too, and be the head football coach, with little to zero assistants... I am failing to see the positives here. With the amount of athletes at the school, you would think the administration and the coaches would want them to do well.

I suspect the Principal is a supporter of athletics based on the fact, unless my information is incorrect, he is an ex NBA player. Who knows if he favors basketball, football, or whatever, but you would think he supports the athletic end of the school. When asking around people seem to think that the administration is hog tied by the central office policies concerning athletics. I don't know. I do know that there were few applicants for either the Rayville or the Delhi positions and that strikes me as unusual considering the types of athletes both have produced over the years.
