no havent heard nothing. Dont even know who has applied for either jobs? Only name i heard is Andy Robinson. Have anyone heard anything else delhi or rayville. Talk around North Louisiana is you cant bring coaches, the pay is ok but not great, and the school situations in both are not good at all. Sounds like Richland Parish is in trouble.

If it was me, I’d reach out to former players that are in college and want to have a career in coaching. That way they could coach as a CECP and “intern” so to speak... Certainly the principal would be cool with that. You can’t beat free.

Apparently Richland parish is telling people they can't afford to pay them till August. So you can have the job, but we can't pay you till August.
So let's recap: - Poor Pay - Wont get that poor pay till August - Basketball School - Can't bring or hire any assistants - Moderate Teaching Load - Student discipline duties - AD Duties - Other coaching duties (I believe Delhi coach was also head track, don't know about Bursey) - Rough school conditions to begin with (poor community etc)
Even the most ridiculous, unqualified joke of a coach wouldn't take a job under those circumstances.
That being said, somebody will take the job eventually. I'm sure he'll be some absurd alumnus or former NFL player that doesn't have a clue what he's doing, and he will either go 0-10 or have a good season and a bunch of fools (many on this board) will talk about what a great coach he is because he has 17 SEC players on a 2-A team, as we've seen so many times before.

I’m a teacher and coach so I can tell you this... Most if not all teacher contracts begin in August for that upcoming school year. Whoever takes over that job is going to be a teacher already so the previous school contract will “pay” for that coaches summer up till August. We all get paid at the end of the month, so August wouldn’t be any different. It sucks but it is what it is. But if you’re already on a teacher contract there won’t be any breaks in the pay. And if it was me, I would do my best to convince some of my former players that are in college at Tech or ULM to “intern” for me. Yeah it’s volunteer. It it would look great on a resume. I guarantee you Rayville wouldn’t turn away free help especially if they know the deal and have a CECP license. Hell, they are students and can student coach as well. Rayville wouldn’t turn away free help if they want to be remotely successful. I looked on the website and it looked like the coach taught in the computer lab which we all know is not too difficult at all. He was also the track coach I believe. I would rather do Powerlifting but that’s just me. They better have a coach worth his salt because whoever it is, they got Calvary game 1 and Oak Grove week 2...

I HEARD JAMES TAYLOR DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR OF GENERAL TRASS IS WHOM IM HEARING THAT MIGHT GETTHE JOB AT DELHI. WHAT ARE YALL HEARING? I've known Coach Taylor for years. He is a very underrated coach. If he get a shot at the Delhi job I think they will continue their winning ways. He was the Jr High coach for a long time in Lp. Players respect him and will go to war for him.

Awesome staff! What’s their combined head coaching records? Like I said, I was curious as to your question, so I went to MaxPreps & researched. Here's what I got: L. Washington(2015-17 Madison Parish) 12-19 A. Burnett (2017-18 Bastrop) 16-8 M. Pollard(2007-11 Delhi) 11-28 J. Hamilton(2007-17 Carroll) 51-68 J. Harris(2004-07 Lake Providence) 5-33 Combined HC Record- 95-156= 37.85 Winning Percentage

BASTROP IN KATRINA ERA AND WHO ELSE

Post by amirightladies on Apr 16, 2019 7:04:39 GMT -6
BASTROP IN KATRINA ERA AND WHO ELSE I don't know which member of that staff you are, probably Dean, but I wish you guys all the best. Dean is a little bit of a self-promoter but he seems to be pretty organized and have a fairly good head on his shoulders. Also, while it's true none of these guys were very good head coaches, that's still a pretty big deal that all of them were, at one point at least, smart enough to be in the right place at the right time and know the right people to become a head coach. That kind of stuff goes a long way. It's not all about the Ws and Ls when it comes to "head coach experience". You also just learn a whole lot, win, lose or draw, that you don't learn as an assistant. And that counts for something. Levi Washington, for example, took over a Madison Parish team that was laughably bad the year before and made them somewhat competitive just by being smart enough to make them play defense. It wasn't good or sound defense, but he knew damn well what to do with athletes. And there's plenty of people who dont. Burnett was kind of successful one year at Bastrop, kind of terrible the other year, and he wasn't any kind of Xs and Os guru, but he was smart enough to lay the ball up deep for people that could outrun everybody and catch the ball. That doesn't work with every team, and it's not necessarily sound offense, but again, there's a lot of people that aren't smart enough to just throw it deep to Superman every play and let him run off, even when they have him. And there's some people that aren't smart enough to know that they DONT have Superman and they CANT lay it up deep every time for him. So I guess what I'm saying here is that while yes, none of them were complete head coaches that had all the answers, obviously. But I can tell you for certain that at least two of those guys were smart enough to do simple stuff that a lot of people aren't.
