Covenant Christian has some good hitters on that team, but they play a easy schedule and don’t have the pitchers to hang with the big boys. They are screwed in a 3 game series.

I don't think you all should count out Cedar Creek. Playing Ouachita C. twice over the next few days.

Covenant is better coached than both teams as well. Great coaching over there but again. Pitching will hurt them. They don’t have the arms for 3game series

I understand what you are saying, but to be honest, if you play well you only need the arms for two games. All of these teams have played well against tough competition earlier in the season during tournament play. Playing multiple games over a two day period.

AC has pitching for a 5 game series and they have bats that don't sleep.
Cedar Creek is not a worry of mine. Ouachita and AC are the big dogs in this race. The Covenant talk is laughable.

I understand what you are saying and no disrespect taken. Just saying baseball has a way of humbling you. Couple of bad bounces, one bad outing from a pitcher, bad calls from an ump etc... and all bets are off. Any of the teams mentioned plus some could beat AC. Can they beat them twice in a three game series? Not likely... but sure it could happen.

I’m calling it now. Covenant Christian dosent go further than the 2nd round.

Very possible, but if the season were to end today a team Covenant just beat 9-1 would have to beat them twice to knock them out.

That is true. I don't have a dog in the hunt in DIV anyway. Only concerned with 2A.

Just for the record AC is 21-3. Loses to Terrebone, U-High, and an error filled St. Michael.

Covenant is better coached than both teams as well. Better listen to what I say. St. John beat Ascension Catholic last night. Who said something about a 3 game series with Covenant. Quachita seems to be the real deal but I have Covenant at #2 in an unofficial rating. Obviously you follow this CCA team as a fan or parent, but please enlighten on which pitchers they have that can win a 3 game series against Div.4 heavy hitters like AC, OC, or St. John?? I’ll wait

You are correct. Like I mentioned a few days ago on this thread, baseball can humble you quick. Covenant just needs two pitchers to win a three game series against any of these teams. AC just lost two in a row, “an error filled St Michael” game and St John. Obviously it’s within the realm of possibility for Covenat to win two games against them in a three game series.

I’ll wait I'm not naming on here. Their opponents should not underestimate them. St. John beating Ascension last night wasn't supposed to happen either. The sky is wide open! I don't don't consider St. John a powerhouse. I saw them play earlier this year. Decent team but not a heavy hitter like you said. You're obviously an Eagle. Congratulations on the big win. Sorry, not a eagle. Just a fan from the Houma area that’s very familiar with the CCA team. Like I said. A great offensive team. They have the power, speed, and an play small ball. But pitching is what will hurt them in the playoffs. Just my opinion.

I'm not ready to say that against Ouachita. Would love to see a home town team win it but just from watching AC and OC from last year and not losing many seniors, they will be tough to beat. Just afraid with CCA’s bats won’t be enough. Hope I’m wrong, but just being realistic.

Bring it may not be an Eagle fan, but he is familiar with D4 teams. While the Eagles may not have the power hitting they had last season, to say they are not powerhouse in baseball is disingenuous. They may not have won any titles, but since 2010 they have advanced as far as the quarterfinals 5 times, 3 trips to the semifinals and were the D4 runner-ups last season. That's a pretty consistent record of success on the diamond. I agree that Covenant is an opponent that should not be overlooked. Any team that makes the playoffs is going to have talent. The Lions have impressive wins over defending 3A champ Berwick and a series win over 3A Erath. In those 3 games the Bobcats scored 5, 10 and 13 runs respectively. Those scores would indicate that the Lions have an excellent #1 pitcher, but pitchers 2 and 3 are going to need some help at the plate to keep those games close. That's not a knock against them. The same could be said for most small schools. The Lions already lost to St. John earlier this season in a competitive game and are scheduled to play ACHS next week, so we will get to see first hand how they stack up. I think they are definitely good enough to make a semi-final run, maybe even win it all with a little luck. It does appear that OCS and ACHS have the inside track right now, but there are at least 5 other teams in D4 that could knock them off on any given night.

Any team can be beat in baseball on any given night, Southern beat LSU last night. I really don’t think any of these teams are overlooking one another, they all have great records and impressive wins. Good luck to all going forward. I’m sticking with my bulldogs to take it home again!!

St.John picked up a big win tonight over 2 time 5A defending state champ Central 12-1 after 5 innings. The eagles are certainly one of the top teams in DivIV

Ouachita coach did not resign. That's a false statement. Drama at AC?? No way! That school is full of drama this year. Just remember, it starts at the top. They need to take a look at their head coach. He was a good ball player but not good with kids and parents. I been affiliated with high school baseball for 30 years and I've never heard so much negativity about 1 coach. We bri going the wood to them Monday!!! Something tells me bigfresh isn’t a CC supporter at all, he’s just an AC coach hater. I guess everyone has a right to their opinion. Best of luck tomorrow if you really are a CC fan!! Go Dawgs

Ascension Christian vs St John for tomorrow for a shot at least a tie of the district championship! Should be a good matchup as ACH is throwing their best and have been playing pretty decent baseball as of late! ACH has the talent to potentially knock off a team or two in the playoffs that they are not supposed to!

I feel like it won't be a close game. St.John bats are hot right now and the pitchers are throwing well. We will see though you never know in baseball anything can happen.
