What happened to Port Barre in football? Seemed to be a really good program until about 10 years ago. 2008 or 2009. Did all the athletes go to Eunice last year? Only about a 35 minute drive.

What happened was that Mac Mistric wasn’t the coach Donnie Perron was. I mean he knew his X’s and O’s better than most people, but he had little control over the kids. Soon all of Donnie’s kids graduated, leaving Mac with nothing, but his kids and it really tanked from there. By the time Craig took over he was left with a bunch of “do nothings” and biscuit eaters. He’s starting to shift the culture back though...their kids were definitely tougher this year, as opposed to last year.

They have 6 non district games instead of 3. But as far as district goes they went from the frying pan with Church Point, Northwest, and Iota into the fryer with ND, LCA, and Welsh

I hope they do well, but that’s an awful district to get dumped into when you’re trying to build a program. It’s tough enough to get kids to come out and play, but add in getting destroyed every year for 4 weeks straight doesn’t help. At least they’ll make the playoffs again. 🤷🏻♂️

Their schedule is weak but they were pretty awful last year so they shouldn't start ordering those playoff t-shirts just yet.

True, 1-9 in is no guarantee anymore. 2-8 should do. 3-7 will get you a home game in the first round!

But if they don't get a big enough payoff they just don't show up.
