Why doesn't ND move up to Div.1? Then they could say they played the best. Or up to Div.2? It's pretty much assumed they're the best in Div.3. They have almost as many players as Curtis, STM, or Evangel. I think they could beat Evangel, but not the other two. Why keep beating teams with 40 or 50 players when you have around 90? Non-district games,,,personally, I wish they'd schedule Ruston, or Neville, or maybe Acadiana? Get some new teams on the schedule, teams that would give them a good game. Same for Eunice....instead of beating up on Opelousas every year, try Many or maybe Natchitoches Central? Eunice is 4-A now, play some 5-A schools. Lots of 2-A schools play 5-A schools.

Notre Dame = division I no
Division I is comprised of schools with either of 1100 kids or schools that have single gender and 600 or more boys these schools are also located in metro areas
Acadia Parish again this year didn't have someone sign a division 1 scholarship Sabine Parish had 5
Number of kids on a team is nice however let's look at how it can not matter the football team the last two years defeated Welsh twice and failed to send anyone to college over the course of those seasons Welsh has Zeno Mckenzie and Daigle moving on When you don't select your kids which let's be honest roughly 90% of schools don't your population affects genetic abnormalities on your team
with about 180 boys in the school it's gonna limit how many over 6' 0 how many over 240 pounds this is why classifications are set up
have 100 boys on a team out of 180 in the school in no way should match up with a school with 100 boys on a team out of 600

Name one, seriously name one transfer Neville couldn't take? it's well documented than approximately 90% of transfers end up at public schools they started tracking data since 2014 it's around 3% of transfers are public to private Ray also please address hootie jones out of zone at Neville and Cam Robinson out of zone at West Monroe When all of this started, public schools could not accept a kid from out of zone and use the sit out rule. Privates could do so and abused the privilege to no end which directly led to the split. What about Hootie? Send me proof of his address when he attended Neville and I’ll say they broke the rules. How about you address the one question you keep dodging: how is OCS allowed to send buses to Bastrop and WM, how is John Curtis allowed to send buses to Algiers and Terrytown, IF, as YOU say, they have zones assigned by the LHSAA common to the closest public school?? Link the rule. Please. I’ve asked you to do so more than 5 times now and you’ve yet to do it. Why? Because it either doesn’t exist, or if it does, it proves what I’ve been saying from the beginning- that private schools have had advantages over publics.

Well, then how was tiny ole John Curtis Christian able to win all those titles against those big bad 4A schools??? We all know why. Because they abused the privileges afforded to them as a private school and built the Jefferson/Orleans Parish all-stars.

i think i now know why you are named Ray you're blind just like Ray Charles
let's look at the rules the local education authority or LEA for short sets the policy for parish in lafayette parish buses run out of zone kids for the PUBLIC schools in orleans parish it's open enrollment therefore John Curtis or Karr have the same advantage Edna Karr is the New Orleans All Star team considered "non select" they have won the last four titles were Curtis has won one Orleans parish is open enrollment and yet Karr still gets kids from outside of Orleans Parish
i pointed out and kenny powers acknowledged that running buses for kids isn't illegal name one public school that doesn't have a bus system there is no such rule that schools can't run a bus
you've got this so backwards you think public schools can't accept out of zone kids - they can and have before the split you think private schools can't run a bus system - they can
a public school put up the rule that sub varsity kids are eligible regardless of zone

You bash the public schools that pushed for the split yet half the crap in your above post were some of the same arguments those public schools had complained about for years. Didn’t matter to you at that time because it didn’t affect your team.

i think it's funny how you keep harping on metro advantages for John Curtis and don't acknowledge Neville does the same thing in the Monroe area
carroll qb transfers to neville - perfectly fine Willie Allen takes a bus to curtis it's wrong
hootie attends neville out of zone - ok fill in blank of out of zone evangel kid - not ok
let's try another example to clear this up so i own all of these shop rites i can open them in all different cities but i can't force anyone to purchase gas from me this is the reality of private school
let's say you open up a chevron let's say that AOC makes a rule everyone has to purchase gas from you
how it is better that you have all of these guaranteed customers while i have to hope to pick up a few customers from the different areas i have a store
private's have some advantages public's have some advantages
last thing i know you won't acknowledge is scholarships are actually disproportional more public school kids get them than the percent of louisiana high school football players they make up

show me where i thought forcing Curtis and Evangel down was ok a good idea or any way i thought this was ok
again it was wrong but not every single "non select kid" was affected but the split affects every single "select" kid
by your logic welsh is wrong for having more kids who wanna play football than lake arthur

Irrelevant whether you agreed with Curtis being forced to play down or not. The split prop was brought up several times and tabled before it finally passed. During that time it was just crickets from your side.

so crickets from my side
that's a shift from i'm pathetic because it didn't affect my team or Ray assertion that somehow we magically added students to avoid this
back to crickets from "select side" pretty sure this is impossible i have a hard time thinking the small "selects" were ok with this and didn't voice objection i would however think it's possible that some of the larger "selects" as well as larger "non selects" were ok with those two going down
if you wanna good watch breaux bridge basketball is on tv take a good look at the kid who lives in cecilia starting for breaux bridge feel free to go to sulphur tomorrow and watch the pitcher who attended new iberia senior high while living in jeanerette who now attends breaux bridge not really sure where he's truly living at
didn't see breaux bridge coach complain when he had one of his kids transfer without moving to Southside "non select" in youngsville
some schools have situations where kids can get better and can succeed while others don't some are "select" some are "non select"
the one's that win despite the "select issue" are alike just like the one's who don't win

Parkway has the minority to majority rule. No wonder the shift in them getting better with Feaster when kids are in Bossier district. All of a sudden they are immediately eligible. Transfer to Evangel, Calvary, or OCS with the “same minority to majority” and will be ineligible since it doesn’t include private. For years kids have gone to Carroll and eligibled to Neville. I’ve personally road with my friend who played for Neville dropped off teammates in Richwood’s district. Disclaimer, now, that could be due to Richwood as a failing school it’s been a long time ago! Either way, there’s one advantage public schools have. Heck back in the early 2000’s I had buddies living in Union Parish and enroll at Sterlington. They were freshman and not going to play varsity anyways.

They had a dude who's currently hitting in LSU's lineup who was the St. Bernard Parish sports hall of fame amateur athlete of the Year. I know he could have helped the Owls lol. Talent attracts talent, and knowing you'll have the chance to win rings draws kids. Kids who get SEC offers and are 4 and 5 stars might be FCS players at other schools. The name and reputation of your school helps get you recruited.

I'm a fan of ND. I like the way they play and I like Cook. But I'm still gonna ask this question. If ND was in a zone like Crowley, and had to follow the rules that Crowley has to, then how many of ND's starters wouldn't have been eligible to play on this past championship team?

If they go to the Catholic feeder schools associated with ND they are eligible. If they come from a public school outside of Crolwey they sit out a year. We rarely get a public school kid. Louie in 22 years at ND I think had 3 or 4.

the thing that gets lost in the public private debate is that public schools can get every single kid from a given zone where as privates can't
does anyone on this message board really think that a kid with at least the same talent level doesn't exist inside the crowley zone that didn't attend nd
the gents have the son of a nfl player playing quarter back he's 6' 3 170 and can fly they have a giant defensive lineman kendall harmon they have grandson of a mcneese guy at rb they also have a big linebacker by the name of Rodney Goodley
they are kids in the crowley zone that would greatly improve notre dame's chances of winning that they don't have
these are just seniors class of 20 they have juniors class of 21 and soph class of 22

lineup from this past year
if the rule for privates was you can't play a kid who attended public school in 5th, 6th, 7th or 8th grade Notre Dame only would have been without one starter on defense and a kid who rotated in on offense
i'd be willing to bet that we could find at least three starters on 90% of the public schools out there that attended private school in 7th or 8th grade

There was a time when the majority thought Jim Crow laws were acceptable as well. That didn't make it right. Just because there has been no change to the rule doesn't mean that some of us won't keep speaking out against it, even if it is just on an internet message board. The split should have never been between the public "non-select" and private "select" schools. It should have been something like the Indiana Plan to keep everyone together or if the split had to happen the rural/metro plan. I know the rural/metro plan wasn't available to vote on then, but if the Principals (all of them) could have come together and made a plan maybe the "hurt feelings" or lost trust of the LHSAA. I do know (from Many) and have talked to many people that still live there (that love the split) that Booker was a driving force behind the split. What would have, could have, should have happened is irrelevant. The prop to split had been brought up and tabled a few times before it finally passed. Head of the LHSAA and all the big money in the large cities and the private schools wanted no part of it. They had a chance to compromise but wanted no part of it. Regardless of the fact that they knew what was going on in places like Evagel And Curtis they were completely content to leave it as is. The same ones crying now that it’s unfair to lump some of the larger private schools with smaller ones in the same division could care less that these small poor rural public schools got lumped into the same classification with teams that pulled their team from a population 1000 times bigger. Keep demonizing the public schools officials who finally decided to do something about it. Continue to ignore the fact that the majority voted for the split. Keep doing that and nothing will change. Continue to ignore what caused the push for the split in the first place. Only thing I’ve seem on here is “ well yes but west Monroe/ Nevill etccc... do it too””. At the end of the day two wrongs don’t make a right and these smaller schools who voted for the split outnumber you all. Never demonized public school officials. I agree that E and JC were the main reason for the split. I also agree that the rural schools no matter the size have a hard time competing with the metro schools. That is the reason I believe that the "rural/metro" plan to split the schools would have been better. My personal favorite would have been to implement the Indiana Plan which I gave to the principal of the school my son was attending as well as to Booker at MHS. I'm not a Principal so I have no control over what the bring up or vote on, but I do believe that either of these would have "leveled" the playing field more than the current plan.

Jim Crow laws - that was forced segregation by the majority The split is forced segregation by a majority seems pretty applicable to me Geez, where do I even begin with this?
Segregation because the color of skin you are born with (which might I add, no one has control over) does not equate to splitting sports programs private/ public. Obviously a private school could decide to become public? But.....then you would be required to quit picking and choosing your student body right?
Second, for private schools to make the comparison is completely laughable and hypocritical. There is a reason the vast majority of private schools were started in the 60's and 70's. May want to catch up on your history before using Jim Crow laws in your complaint.

You might want to read up on your own history. That might be a true of some private schools, but not the majority. The majority of private schools in LA are Catholic schools and most Catholic schools were started prior to the advent of public school education, many in 1850s and some even earlier than that. And even in the 1960s most privates were admitting black students before they were allowed to attend their local "white" public schools. So don't bring your cries of racism in this direction. Segregation isn't just about race. It can also be directed against people due to their religious beliefs. Since most private schools are affiliated with a church or particular faith it appears as though they are being singled out due to that. Most non-discrimination policies contain something to the effect of: "shall not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, etc..." Evidently the LHSAA does not follow such a policy, or if they do they are willfully ignoring it in the case of the private schools.

Bud I didn't bring racism into this conversation, I believe you did comparing the split to Jim Crow. Most people don't spend thousands of dollars to send their kids to private school because they are "good" Catholics. They send them there to get them away from the crime and bull s**t flooding the hallways in public schools.
Religious academies were the first form of education throughout the United States. One of the main reasons so many still exist today is because they can use a form of segregation to build their student body.

I never said schools can’t “run a bus.” This is yet another falsehood you’ve thrown out there. Please show me where I said that. What you can’t comprehend is a simple question. YOU made a statement about a rule you STILL HAVE NOT linked or quoted. The statement was that private schools have zones assigned by the LHSAA common to the closest public school. To contest this rule I asked you to tell me why OCS - which is ONE MILE down the road from Sterlington - has buses running all the way to Bastrop and West Monroe. You haven’t answered this, yet. You either can’t answer the question or you are afraid to admit you made the claim based on hearsay without having any direct knowledge or experience with the rule. Neville isn’t sending a bus to Bastrop. That’s against the rules. Bastrop isn’t sending a bus to Monroe. That’s against the rules. West Monroe isn’t send a bus to Monroe. That’s against the rules. Sterlington isn’t sending a bus to Bastrop or WM. That’s against the rules. OCS IS sending buses to West Monroe AND Bastrop. That’s within the rule. Only one school above is private. I’ll let you figure that out.
