My predictions on the top teams in each class: Boys: 5a- Wallker 3a-Madison Prep, Peabody 2a-Rayville, Port Allen
I dont know much about teams in the other classes.
Girls: 5a-Ponchatoula, Denham Springs 3a- Mansfield, Madison Prep 2a- Doyle is a top choice in 2a with only losing 1 starter and the rest of the team coming back as juniors. Lake Arthur, Amite, Red River. B- Holden, Anacoco, Fairview C- Plainview

Rayville is losing 3 or 4 from their starting five. Won't be the same level as last 3 years.
Dunham will be good. Port Allen might be getting a few transfer players. They will be good.
Madison Prep always. They have a lot of size and lost 2 contributing seniors. The Chargers defense is always awesome. I'm sure Peabody.
Scotlandville lost ZERO starters on a team that has won 3 state titles in a row and they only lost 2 games last year. Walker vs Scotlandville will be good. Coach Sample will not lose to them this year.

I'd watch Chalmette in girls hoops... We finally broke through and beat Landry Walker for district, hosted and won the first playoff game. Think next year our best player Donaldson will be a senior

Dunham will be good. Port Allen might be getting a few transfer players. They will be good. Port Allen getting a few transfer players? And here I thought we split the organization because the private schools have an advantage with getting new players. Their best player will be a Sopre next year, but a "Senior" eligibility wise (his age will only allow him one more year). I know there are several (or more) public schools in the Baton Rouge/Livingston/Ascension area that recruit the athletes they play with.

Their girls programs over there are always solid. I don't know what class they are in, but the Albany girls have had some really good teams the last few years. Madison Prep has the best team you can pay for each year (Along with Lafayette Christian) both boys and girls. Class B and C are dominated by the same teams every year (Boys: Jehovah Jireh, Summerfield, Zwolle, Simsboro) (Girls: Plainview, Holden, Anacoco, Fairview). With Lafayette Christian moving up to 2A, it will be interesting to see which private school fills the void. Keep an eye out for Crescent City who just moved back up to that Division. Walker's boys remain very talented, but they just lost the dominant senior girl. Denham Springs should own that district on the girl side this year. As stated above, Scotlandville is about to run it back in Division 1 without much competition I'm afraid. They are a dang good team.

Will be 18 next year. The point guard. They have a 6 Ft 3 freshmen who is the correct age and he is good. They play pressure defense and that will allow them to be good no matter who they have. Port Allen made finals and got a two national tournament invites. Their coach is really good also. Players will go. Their are players that live in Port Allen that played for Madison Prep, Catholic, etc. The head coach played at Catholic in the early 1990's and was slated to go to Port Allen. I'm not saying he was recruited. All schools recruit, if they are good. Public and Private. If they dont then they turn into Woodlawn or Parkview the last 3 years. Parkview does have a new coach. Will be good again.

Peabody is going back to 4A, Bossier is moving down to 3A so I fully expect to see Bossier and Madison Prep somewhere near the end in 3A. I like us going back to 4A. Sick of that 3A district.

With success, the coach over there will find it easier to keep them in WBR.

Powerhouse teams get nothing out of it, and the bad teams get their tails kicked and embarrassed. I can get behind this. There's a reason some small school districts in basketball already cut the amount of district games in half. This way, the stronger teams could find stronger opponents on open days (and the stronger teams of the district could play each other a second time, just won't count towards district, if they're struggling to find those non district opponents) and weaker teams could do the same thing among themselves.

We’re returning a decent amount of talent from last year, including a top 5 player in the state regardless of classification. Lakeview and Red River play close games with J-H year in and year out as well.

He is related to coach and went to Catholic High. Which is where head coach attended in mid 1990s' and was best player in Baton Rouge. This player will make Port Allen a favorite to win state in 2020.

Red River, Lakeview, Rayville, and J-Hodge should be contending from up north.

Port Allen beat them at Red River in the playoffs this year. Mcdonald has a hair trigger and unlimited range.

I know the parents of the kid I always considered the best player to play basketball at LCA and they definitely paid his tuition assuming that is what you meant by that. Not sure why adults feel the need to throw snide remarks in like that but whatever makes you feel better man.

I know the 2nd and 3rd best players at LCA that both got scholarships to play college ball. they did not pay tuition and did not live in Lafayette until 10th grade. Lived in West Baton Rouge for 2 years in middle school and then went to high school in St. Landry as freshmen.

Lived in West Baton Rouge for 2 years in middle school and then went to high school in St. Landry as freshmen. Pretty sure I know who you are talking about. If it is who I think, I was told their grandmother wanted them out of the school they were in in St Landry parish. I was also told she insisted on paying their tuition but I do not know that first hand. I can't argue that fact since my info comes third hand. It may be a different pair (given the specifics you mentioned, I doubt it) or perhaps you have better info than I do. Two of my kids went to LCA so my judgement may be clouded. Athletic scholarships are not legal under LHSAA rules, need based scholarships are, provided they are available to all students. From what I understand, LCA offers that through a third party scholarship program, www.aretescholars.org/schools/louisiana-schools, that looks to be available to any student who goes to most Catholic or Christian school in Louisiana. But I am not naive enough to think that those things are not used to advance athletics.

I’m sure that was with an eligible McDonald and an in basketball shape Horton when scheduled. I’m wishing them the best but They will have to shoot absolutely lights out to get any wins there. All of the size in Baton Rouge is at Madison Prep, believe they have a 6’8 and 6’9 starting
