Hearing that the LHSAA is bastardizing a rule to make the pitchers who were pitching in the games suspended Thursday must come back with the same pitch count in the resumed game Sunday.
The rule book states only that if there is a suspended game, pitching rules will be adhered too. Nothing more. So..... if a kid has 75 pitches, he must sit out 2 days........OK cool.... then he can go again and start at zero pitches and roll............ But evidently Sterlingtons coach has put his whiny spin on it and convinced the decision makers that wouldn't be fair...... the pitcher must pick up where he left off and won't start at zero.
So......... is the pitch count rule for pitchers safety......... or just to give a scared coach a way to manipulate a competitive advantage? Make no mistake...... this isn't about player safety.

Note: The pitching rule applies even though a game may be called by an umpire due to darkness, inclement weather, or any other factor that may cause it to end before it has become an official game.
The game picks up at the point where it was called. It was not an official game so everything stays the same. Including pitch counts for both pitchers.

That's not what the rule says... it says pitching rules will stay in effect. So you have to sit out based upon the number of pitches thrown.... no where does it say to pitchers pitch counts will stay in place and pick up where they left off. Prior to this rule 3 years ago, a pitcher could pitch 150 pitches every day for 10 days straight and justifiably some rule was necessary to protect a coach from injuring a pitcher by over throwing a pitcher.
The rule that was devised for pitcher safety and has now been twisted to create a competitive advantage being apparently argued by Sterlington who is obviously scared, make no mistake..... it is being argued for a competitive advantage for Sterlington and not for player safety.

The rules do say that a suspended game shall continue from the point of suspension as if it was never suspended. The rest period part of the rule doesn't apply, only the pitch count limit applies.
