Regardless of class and top 10 in 5A non-select since it is the class I follow the closest.
Regardless of class
1. John Curtis 2. Zachary 3. Karr 4. Acadiana 5. Destrehan 6. St Thomas More 7. Neville 8. West Monroe 9. Rummel 10.Catholic of Baton Rouge
5a Non-select
1. Zachary 2. Acadiana 3. Destrehan 4. West Monroe 5. Hahnville 6. Terrebone 7. Walker 8. Alexandria 9. Captain Shreve 10.John Ehret
Some notes
Destrehan is very very very good this year. Anyone overlooking them is being foolhardy and hard headed.
Their defense will be the best they have had since their run back in 07 and 08. Linebacker play and defensive line play will be deep, fast, physical and well coached.
Offensively their offensive line will be back to par in terms of size and strength while sporting some top end talent. If their QB comes along they can win it all.
Acadiana is loaded. Top to bottom. Their offensive line looks bigger, quicker, and meaner than last year and their stable of horses in the backfield is as deep as it has ever been with leadership. Their defense likely will be the fastest in the state outside of Zachary and Karr.
Also know that another Jai Eugene will be available to Destrehan again. He will be a freshman, but word is he is one bad mama jama.
Zachary isn't a shoe in this season. Far from it. Better be locked and ready as these two teams I mentioned more than can best them this season.

1. John Curtis “Christian” 2. Zachary 3. Karr 4. Acadiana 5. Destrehan 6. St Thomas More “Catholic” 7. Neville 8. West Monroe 9. “Catholic” BR 10.Lafayette "Christian" Academy
May as well be consistent.

What makes you think that Warren Easton doesn't belong in that top 10?

If I'm being completely honest...I get that there's a lot returning...I get that there's a starter on the line from two years ago coming back recovered from a serious injury and now gets his senior season to play like he's got something to prove...I get that Lockett and Celestine make an already pretty good defense become a bit scary...but I still hesitate to think of us top 10 in the state regardless of class when we're replacing a QB as good as Zach. Make no mistake about it, he was top 10 for sure, I'd personally say top 5, in terms of QBs in the state regardless of classification last year. Whether or not you agree with that, he's going to be replaced with either the best receiver on the team or a 5'7 sopre who has very little experience against actual varsity competition. That will be fine against most teams, obviously, but when we're getting up to this level of teams in the state, I'd probably give the edge for the number 10 spot to someone like, as Indy mentioned, a Warren Easton, who returns a guy in Brandon Legendre who was, in my opinion, a top 3 QB in the state across classifications this past season and has their own really good football team around him.

No doubt Warren Easton brings back a good team, but they lost the QB and return Clayton and the big offensive center.
They won't be as salty as last couple of years.
I should have Rummel in there and forgot about their transfer QB from Jesuit. Will adjust.

I think Evangel will should be in the top ten. I am a little partial to them but they are going to have a strong team this year!

I believe Evangel will have a good team this year. A look at our schedule says we may go 7 and 3, but come play off time we have as good a chance as any to make the State Championship game. Go Eagles!!!!

It had quotes around “Christian” for Lafayette Christian Academy as his 10th ranked team. So I copied and pasted and added “Christian” to Curtis and “Catholic” to St. Thomas More and CHBR. And made a joke about being consistent. Editing the post and removing LCA from the top 10 kind of killed the joke! 😂😂😂

Go Eagles!!!! They'll definitely make the D2 playoffs more interesting. Potential match-ups with St. Thomas More, U-High, Parkview Baptist and De La Salle could make for some good games.

It is a wreck right now. Offensive Line IS not very good and they are very low on numbers.

My Top 10 by class, no particular order 4A Warren Easton Edna Karr Neville St. Thomas More Northwood-SHR Eunice Lakeshore Evangel Christian Westgate Helen Cox I know Eunice is returning a lot from last year, but I don't see them having the same type of success in 4A. In my opinion, 3A was the weakest class last year for football. Also, I can't wait for that Neville/ STM matchup. Should be a good one.

Ray I agree. Their is a pretty big gap between 3a and 4a teams. Especially the metro 4a schools. Hopefully Eunice does well but it’s gonna be basically impossible for them to beat Neville, Karr or Warren Easton.

I dont think Eunice is a serious contender to go back to the Dome but I do think they are a Top 10 team in 4A in the preseason. Like you said they return a lot and will run through their district like crap through a goose but they aren't on the same level as teams like Karr and Easton. 3A was, and IMO will be again, the weakest class in the LHSAA.

I don't see or hear anything about top notch talent whatsoever coming from Evangel. We have one of the best QB's in the state. Receivers and running backs are going to be great! Not much depth on the line though. If anyone gets a chance, go and watch the 7 on 7 to see the skilled players. We will have a really high scoring offense this year. Better than any we have had in a long time including last year.

Haven’t completely looked at rosters and film. Only ones I know will be good are Zachary, Curtis, Karr. Acadiana. Could be a steep drop off after those. Karr could be he best in the state. Time will tell

Time will tell MT, Neville will be solid. I am trying to envision someone stopping them with two OT that are 6'6 260, and 6'7" 340. The big kid from OCS has indeed transferred in and will be eligible. Will McCarty start him as he did Campbell last season as a freshman is to be seen, but if they do will be biggest in state and both great talents along with good talent all around.
