Honestly, I think we are missing the point here. To me, it's simply an event for the kids. It Gives them something to do to stay competitive and do something that they love (and we all loved) which is to still be able to "play football" in some respect and stay connected to the game of football during the off-season. You guys are making way to much of this. It's for the kids I totally agree with you. Problem is that the recruiting s have taken it over and turned it into the football equivalent of overhyped AAU Basketball.

These events aren’t for the kids It’s for the adults making serious money SO WHAT YOU ARE SAYING IS THAT THE KIDS DON'T LIKE PARTICIPATING IN THESE 7 ON 7 EVENTS AND DON'T GET ANYTHING OUT OF IT AND ARE BEING FORCED TO DO THIS FOR THE SOLE PROFIT OF GREEDY ADULTS MAKING MONEY?

THEY CAN'T CONTROL WHAT THE ADULTS DO, BUT I'M SURE THE KIDS ARE NOT FORCED TO PARTICIPATE AND THEY DO GET JOY AND EXCITMENT OUT OF THESE 7 ON 7 EVENTS.

I UNDERSTAND THAT ADULTS PUT THESE ON FOR VARIOUS PERSONAL REASONS, BUT THE KIDS WANT TO PARTICIPATE AND THEY GET JOY, EXCITMENT, AS WELL AS OTHER BENEFITS, LIKE MASSIVE EXPOSURE FROM BEING THERE, IF NOT, THEY WOULDN'T BE THERE. NO ONE IS FORCING THEM TO PARTICIPATE, AND IF THE KIDS DIDN'T GET ANYHTING OUT OF IT, I'M SURE THEY WOULDN'T BE THERE. THESE EVENTS BENEFIT THE KIDS AS WELL AS THE ADULTS WHO SPONSER THEM OR ORGANIZE THEM.

There were a lot of schools represented at STM today for 7v7.
Acadiana, Breaux Bridge, Vermilion Catholic, Comeaux and STM were a few that I noticed.

Ask yourself how much money is made by adults with people following college recruiting I don’t know, Buck. As you know, I’m just a recovering alcoholic trying to pay the bills and put food on the table. I’ll cover any sporting event that they’ll pay me for.

I feel that 7 on 7 is overrated because you lack a full O line. Its great to keep your athletes athletic and involved in the off-season but you can have a crop of All-Americans run, catching, and throwing and it wont matter if you have a weak line. And a good front seven on defense can shut down a high powered offense real quick and you dont get that I 7v7. Its a good tool to help ypur athletes improve and stay involved in the off-season but if you think a team will be good based on 7v7 results you arent taking all the factors into account. 7/11 factors to be exact.

They are drills not really football in the general sense They don't have lineman to harass the QB, but do offer summer drills.

Same
It’s work for the kids on position drills and a fun way to pass the time
But as far as who wins the 7 on 7 game it doesn’t matter

The competitions are probably detrimental to the skills the players are trying to develop for the fall. Organized, scripted pass skell practices sessions however are useful to develop certain aspects.

Scotlandville blew Karr out in 7 on 7. 33-6 👀 I can see that. One of Karr's biggest strengths is the defensive line and their overall defensive mentality and style of play from September-December does not fit these types of competitions. A perfect example of the thread's title.

They hit the QB legally every play. I told him I was excited for Scotlanville and all of those athletes they have, but in a real game Karr probably crushes them. He didn’t want to hear that 😂😂😂😂

Against Warren Easton (who plays a very similar style) nearly every play was either sack, heavily pressured scramble, tackle for loss, or a big play. That doesn't translate well in 7- on - 7. Not only that, but it develops bad habits in players.

A win is a win, you take the win when you can!!! Even when it is in June but could lead to a worse performance in October? Of course, confidence goes far. Yeah no pass rush but, it is team building and trust building, its muscle memory, its landmark memory, and its competition. Players and coaches love to compete daily and its better when you go against a different team.

I think it would be more beneficial in a controlled practice situation, where the competition is not on the scoreboard, but on the field itself. The muscle memory and landmark memory can both be heavily false memories. Defenders playing with inaccurate leverages because the coverages being used will not be used much if at all in the fall (due to the lack of a force player against the run) Defenders aligning at deeper depths, not taking read steps, not allowing for run, secondary players not allowing for the proper body position of the underneath defenders (due to lack of run threat) etc. Sure, winning is better than losing, BUT I would argue it is actually better not to do the thing at all. Instead, run pass skell practices against other teams with scripted situations and no scoreboard.

Most years its about 35, the stud players are easy to id. But what about depth. In Pass Skel our 1's or either on Offense or Defense not both. 7 on 7 allows some players to prove their worth. 2 or 3 kids a year gain confidence or out right win positions for the fall because of the good showing in 7 on 7. I'm not saying it's the only way kids win positions but helps tremendously with a small roster size.

I'm not saying it's the only way kids win positions but helps tremendously with a small roster size. You must have missed where I said against other teams. As in, instead of going to some tournament or weekend competition, meet up with likeminded teams and go your 1's vs their 1's your 2's vs their 2's etc. Make sure the ego is not a factor, teach the kids to win the play rather than worry about a scoreboard. Situation based football using scripted down and distances as opposed to a scoreboard given game with rules such as 1st and 15 with 3 plays to get to the line to gain and then 3 plays to score etc. Nobody lives in 2man from Sept to December. Nearly everyone lives in 2 man at June/July competitions. Nobody runs drag routes along the LOS or continually sends an RB down through the line to threaten the deep middle in the fall. These are staples of the offenses in June/July.
