North Louisiana as a whole is down. Even with great teams they can't overcome the classes developed it seems down south. Richwood had their best team since reopening and lost handedly two years back against West Feleciana. West Monroe had a great team 3 years ago that lost to Landry Walker who also had an elite class like WF. Neville two years back had a team that was going for their 3rd straight title and all they had to do was beat the same exact team they had beaten before on their run, with the majority of their team back, and still lost. Oak Grove had a tremendously talented team last season and ran into a buzz saw in Kentwood who just had a better class. Never seen this type run before and I think the main reason being teams up North haven't adjusted their styles to the south. The South was getting their heads beat in at the line of scrimmage for three decades from 80-2010. They changed. They changed fast and it has been stark in its transformations. We see teams that have more sophisticated and well rounded offenses with better quarterback play all around. And, it isn't close. The North is going to have to adjust or be left behind. Period. Neville was the first to adjust it seems in 2009. Should have beaten WM that year and McCarty changed their offense style and it works against everyone when he has the horses to do it. OCS was the fore runner in that regard outside Evangel in a sophisticated offense. They just don't have the talent every year to show it. When they do,they dominate as they dis a few years back with some stout classes. Even those divisions have adjusted though and doing so with better players has left OCS one he dust too. Sad to see it happen but with the passage of time and domination things have to change and it did, in a huge way. I saw the writing on the wall with Destrehan in 2007 and 2008 when they went back to back. Also with Acadiana in 2007 too. Two Destrehan coaches told me that Ed Reed was at the 2005 demolition WM put on in the quarters against them in a rout and told the school he is building a weight room state of the art and wants to see those kids get in shape. Since that time they have developed an elite weight program with speed to match. That 2005 game they were slow up front and fat. It was bad. Now they don't have a far body playing. I use that story as a marker on how teams decided it was time to change or continue the same. Now teams up North have to do the same as this Destrehan program did. We will see how it works in the next few seasons. See see Kentwood just has our number it is what it is lol we had a squad last year but they all coming back besides 5 I think so 4-6 out of 22 is returning for this season my bad folks should have looked this over before I posted had a customer come in and was trying to hurry up lol we have 4-6 that left out of 22 lol

I have strong belief that Karr will be the best team in the state. They will score a ton of points, front 7 maybe the fastest in the state and a lockdown cb. Likely better than last year

Sure it may not be the popular choice but I wouldn't be surprised to see it happen. They have one of the top qb's in the state returning hes got a rocket for an arm and can run it. He's also 6'5. He returns a lot of his targets from last season as well. You're talking about a team who beat Amite, St Charles, Newman, and Riverside and lost to CHNI by 3 in the semi's.

The QB better have an offense line to protect him. But I think D4 is wide open.

5A- Zachary 4A- Karr 3A- Sterlington 2A- Many 1A- Oak Grove D1- Curtis D2- STM D3- Notre Dame D4- Country Day 3A must be extremely weak this year, because Sterlington lost all their offensive and defensive line. I expect freshmen to play meaningful minutes this year because of depth issues. Union should win that district or Wossman.

Union probably should have won second game in the playoffs. I read somewhere they had lead in 4th and turned ball over on own side of the field. They ended up losing by 1. I guess Sterlington has its number.

I wouldn't sleep on Iota either they return a lot of starters and knocked Baker out in 1st round last year.

Country Day beat Newman, Newman beat Calvary yet Calvary is the favorite to win hmm. Not saying Calvary won't win but say Country Day has no chance is non sense in my opinion. Jklee said not long ago he thought CD was the favorite now he says they got no chance lol

Calvary is the favorite. Country Day has a chance. Everybody else won’t contend.

I know those kids work hard and I’m not trying to shame them but 3A is non select is clearly the weakest division.

Read somewhere that LCCP has 2 players with power 5 offers. WR committed to Miami and their running back just got an offer from Moo St. I look for them to make a deep run in 3A this year.

Mediocre is the new “great” Yeah I was about to bring 2A up in my last post. At least 2A added Kentwood. But it’s not a lot of good teams in those divisions.

Big blow to LCA.
6’6 and 270 lb offensive tackle Noah Bellow re-tore the ACL that cost him last season. Started at OT on the 2017 state championship team as a sopre and was expected to be a stalwart on the line this year as a senior.
Really good kid who’s football career is now probably over. My heart aches for him.

My heart aches for him. wow that's unfortunate. I remember being in the weight room and the locker room with him freshman year when he was a lanky 6'4 kid who didn't look like much, but he always had a good attitude. Suddenly the next year out of nowhere it seems he puts on a lot of muscle as a sopre and starts at right tackle. I remember in that first round playoff game there was a play where I personally was conflicted because either one guy missed his assignment or some surprise blitz got there and the defender got to Logan for a loss but at the same time Bellow checked his man into the skyview hotel (he pancaked him) and seeing the guy I knew as the tall lanky frosh do that in the playoffs as a sopre was awesome. I was hoping to see more of that with him back but now, guess that's not happening. What a shame. I bet he would've played his way into at least an LC offer too or something like that.

I hate that happened to him. Man we have a kid that started at safety his freshman season on the jv team. Tore the same ACL his sopre and junior season. He’s gearing up for his senior year now. He didn’t play in the spring. Hopefully he’ll be injury free his senior season. I wish the LCA kid the best. I hate injuries. Juco is always an option. He can walk on and then earn a scholarship. I would go that route before calling smaller colleges. Or maybe go the prep school route. Hargrave is always a great spot. It’s a few other Prep/boarding schools on the west coast that have Louisiana coaches and ties. I would explore all of those options before NAIA schools.
