I read the complete email chain started by Norma Booker and and Jane. Believe me, they are self serving. So believe you ...like believing the executive director of the LHSAA unilaterally pushed JC and ECA down into 2A? Because you said that happened, and that wasn't true. Or like believing that Kenny Henderson was the LHSAA executive director when that happened? Because you said THAT was the case, and that wasn't accurate either. Or most recently when you said 4 out of 5 = 60% Because that isn't correct either But seriously, could you enlighten us a bit as to how this email chain revealed that this principals are serving THEMSELVES and not their schools? Retired...Would you mind sharing with the board how JC and ECA were pushed into 2A? If you really know (most people don't-including me)? What was the reason behind it?
I have to say that it is disappointing that you have not read the emails that were written and exchanged between professional administrators. Self serving should be the least of anyone's concerns, they would be an embarrassment to any organization, if you haven't read them (I have) you should reserve judgment on the intent of the messages. They were an embarrassment to their respective schools, no one should be talked about in that way. No one.
Having said that other than continuing to argue mute points, what is your suggestion on ending the split? What needs to happen to bring "our" schools back together again?
There is no way anyone who is dug in on either side will be persuaded, so what is a factual path forward to ending the split? Or you think High School Athletics in our state have been fixed, and the current state of affairs is the best path forward?
I actually have no dog in this hunt, other than feeling that there has to be a better way. There should always be a weekend in New Orleans to watch the best football teams in our state compete....that is not happening now.

-- Someone wrote a proposal saying that schools had to play in class. They could not elect to play up (I think actually they could request, but it would have to be approved by a vote of the schools in that class. ) Proposal was voted on by LHSAA members. Proposal passed. That's about it. As to the reason for it, I can only speculate that it was because ECA and JC seemed to be "feeding on" playing up if that makes any sense. They were able to leverage that into increased success as opposed to it somewhat reducing it. Also, some may have been trying to use it as an attempt to "expose" those schools and say "Hey, that school has an enrollment just like yours. Their football roster looks NOTHING like yours. What gives?". Basically to try and paint the schools as football factories, where classification would not matter (like University of Miami Fla being a small private school but being a top notch football school) I think the best way to "end" the split would be to use a multiplier system, but as I have said, even that is more complex as it would penalize some schools that really struggle to compete in their current class. Now, should the split be eliminated? That is going to depend on ones perspective. I do think that the reasons for the split may have been exaggerated, especially given the current enrollment, and I do also think that the primary result of the split was just that two brackets with the same teams making deep runs in each were created.
