Surprised this wasn’t mentioned but schools approved the formation of the LSA today. Select schools now have own voice. They have a unified voice but still under the auspice of the LHSAA. They will have control over their side of the split brackets. This is 6 years overdue.

I know that this falls under the “split” topic, but i think that this is a monumental move that warrants us moving this topic to the main Forum!! This will get JUICY!

Control over what? Control over the venues? The money paid out by championships?
I will be disappointed if there are separate events. I enjoy the football finals in the Superdome and the Basketball championships at one venue. My personal favorite was when the games were held in Baton Rouge at the PMAC. Glen Oaks vs Tara and Glen Oaks vs Central, anyway I digress. The attendance will suffer for both events select and non select if the championship events are split. They will either be at the same time or two different weeks. I would not drive to Lake Charles for two different events during two different weeks. I will just watch events through the streaming site. I know high school football players enjoy making it to the Dome. Is it the same for the players if they get to play somewhere besides the Dome? I don't have the answer for that. Playing championship games at 11:00 AM is an awful move which has been going on now for years.
I think supporters of each school playing in championship game will go to events, but you will miss out on fans by having different venues. The schools that I support, Central High and Port Allen High , rarely make it to any championship event, but I still go to the top 28 and the Superdome. (I only follow basketball and football)
I guess my point is that there are only so many high school sports fans and I think the numbers will decrease with different venues. If Notre Dame plays Catholic of New Iberia in a championship game, how many fans outside of that region will travel to watch the game if it is played at ULL? If Parkview plays U High in the championship at Olympia Stadium how many non Baton Rouge fans will go?

Actually getting it done is a huge step. The Catholic schools are bound under a common structure as part of the diocese in which they reside, but the other private and select schools are either independent, part of their own church structure, or under the guidance of a parish school board or charter organization. Getting those disparate groups to agree on anything is a leap forward. Plus this isn't strictly split talk or rehashing reasons for or against. It's relevant news regarding football and other championship events for roughly 1/3 of the schools in Louisiana. It took the founding fathers 11 years between the signing of the Declaration of Independence until the Constitution was finally ratified and the colonies officially became the United States. And obviously high school football is at least as important as that.

No Dome, but the take home for each team would likely increase. It would be nice to see all 4 championship in one venue though. Or even all 5 if this eventually leads to the LHSAA getting back together and has championship games for just 5 classes again.

I think Bonine's fear is that it will lead to complete separation and he is justified in his belief. It will in no way move the liars off of their lies, they will continue to disparage all private schools and it will NEVER be unified again. I see this as the first real step in unifying private schools to make the final complete split possible and probably. It gives them the ability to say on that last day, we tried but you guys refused to bend. Adios amigos.

That may or may not be true, but keep in mind that you have espoused here often that Notre Dame HS and it's adult leadership didn't care about the kids experience either--they were more worried about a paycheck. I 100% agree that a school should never be worse off financially for advancing to the State Championship, BUT I seem to recall a few posts here talking about 6 figure payday potentials if from playing games at UL. That said, I do agree with iknownuthing that this obviously seems like the first step to a completely separate association. May be a good thing, may not be. Time will tell.

I’ve also said often it’s unfair to use the kids tricking them with an “experience “ so the LHSAA can pay their past due bills and the principals can have a free weekend in NOLA.

For the record, I do think the first thing that should have been done before the privates voted to leave the venues is that they should have looked for ways to for a better contract (talking in particular about the Superdome). I absolutely understand why schools don't necessarily view playing in the Superdome as such a great thing. Hell if I were an adult at ND or Catholic NI, I would probably want to play at UL and split a gate as well.

Louie got a payment a few weeks ago for the 2017 game, and I don’t think that made us whole yet.

Don't you think the "self serving" principals as you say would want their school to be served? What I DO know is that the LHSAA President (Mandeville High School Principal) certainly has heard from Lakeshore's principal about the financial issues of playing in the dome.

I know the financials dating back to 2000. ND has been in the finals 10 times since then so at least give me credit for knowing what’s going on. You can ask any principal outside the loop or in the loop for a financial disclosure on the super dome event and they will all give you the same answer “I don’t know” So either put up or shut up or remain a troll, your call.

Again with this. First, do you know what a troll is? It is someone who posts inflammatory and extraneous info to get things off topic. For example, constantly using derogatory phrases and unsubstantiated, exaggerated, hyperbolic speech. I simply reply to your posts with reasoned, measured responses, pointing out some of the aforementioned examples and you seem to get offended. It is like seeing a guy who kicks dogs, steals from young children and makes fun of disabled people get upset that someone called him a jerk. Now, back on topic. I don't understand what your knowledge of the ND finances regarding the dome have to do with your assertion that if the the net income from the Superdome Classic was improved in 2019 after several seasons of public complaints and news coverage on lower team payouts, that somehow that situation wouldn't be remedied and that the "LHSAA" (the organization of which those schools complaining are members) would keep the money.

I know exactly what the LHSAA has paid out 10 of the last 18 years. I know what it has cost ND those 10 years in travel, meals, and hotels. I know the BS Louie had to go through because he had X amount of Players X amount of Coaches, and X amount of trainers when the LHSAA said we only allow X amount. Yet you obviously don’t know any of that first hand. I also know public schools complain about the same thing. It has nothing to do about public or private, it’s about right and wrong. It’s about transparency or in the LHSAA’s case a lack of transparency. Going forward the Private schools have a chance to right the wrong, unfortunately the public schools don’t, their financial fate is in the hands of the self serving s.

Ok, but what does any of that have to do with your presumption that if the contract was renegotiated, thus leaving enough for the promised payout (or more) that it would somehow not happen because of some nefarious actions? Also, again, WHO are the self serving s? If you say the Executive Committee..there could be precedents for that. I believe there have been a few issues with questionable spending in the past. But I think you should be a bit more clear when you use your term.

Then subtract the guaranteed payouts. Subtract a reasonable amount travel, meals, hotels for the teams. Add whatever you think the sponsorships dollar amounts are. = self serving s. Have you ever seen a spreadsheet with the income and expenses from a dome weekend? Why is that so secret? Why is the average principal afraid to ask? Something isn’t adding up.

It doesn't take a financial wizard to recognize that the rental contract has increased, PLUS they are playing 4 more games (a whole extra day) plus the addition of 8 more teams all with an attenance that is the same if not LESS than some of the previous 2 day events featuring 8 less teams. Again, I ask you, WHO was self serving? Who "benefitted" Was it J.C ey, the principal of Red River HS? Joseph Bondurant, principal at Block HS? Was it Jeanne' Appelgat, Head of the UpperSchool of McGehee School? Jamie Henagan of Peabody?

WHO-WHO! 🦉 The only name I see you mention that is on the Executive Committee is Booker. Are you saying that he somehow unilaterally controls the actions of a majority of the other 270+non select schools (although in this case, it would be ALL of the schools since this isn't a non-select/select issue). More over, since Many has made some deep runs into the playoffs, are you saying that Booker would somehow unilaterally redirect funds that could be sent to Many if they made it to the dome to another LHSAA purpose in an attempt to be self serving? And here is the problem-- you will probably (given your history here) read this post and decide "OH RETIRED must support the split" simply because I demonstrated that I don't believe in you supposition that a decreased Superdome rent would have still resulted in failure to meet the expected game guarantees but rather some nebulous "self serving" expenditures by some nebulous "self serving" group or by a singular person on the LHSAA executive committee. That isn't the case. In fact, I think you have made it pretty clear that if you were not a ND supporter, but rather say a Crowley supporter that YOU would be one of the BIGGEST proponents of the split. From everything that you have posted here, you paint a picture that a few principals (Booker for one) was able to generate enough votes by painting ALL PRIVATE SCHOOLS just like ECA AND JC. Given your propensity for hyperbole, wild and vast generalizations, and a lack of nuance--I think you would have eaten that up.

It is getting juicy right now, particularly with Bonine basically saying it isn't a "real subgroup" (like the coaches association) and has no LHSAA standing. Essentially saying it was only for the championship events and the optics of the association is not conducive for unification.

It will when the Dome Classic loses sponsorship money to the private organization. It’s now about the Benjamin’s! Money like the LHSAA doesn’t have zones! I think Southplaq is right. It is getting juicy right now, particularly with Bonine basically saying it isn't a "real subgroup" (like the coaches association) and has no LHSAA standing. Essentially saying it was only for the championship events and the optics of the association is not conducive for unification. It doesn’t matter one bit whether Bonine (LHSAA) approves the organization or not. It’s simply was formed to organize the private side of the split championships. It only makes his job easier, even an can collect 10% and deposit it.

(not equal, special rights) - yeah right
Yep i would love it if nd was able to enroll every football player in the city of Crowley and not have to worry if they could afford the tuition.
We could have the son of a nfl player and the grandson of a mcneese player who won state in the 200m dash.
That's even pretending public schools follow zones So let's say we could do like Iota and enroll any kid we wanted, then We could have a 6,000 yard rusher from church point or the stud rb who transferred from st. eds to iota or the big giant good looking Hebert lineman who's a soph I know of a stud lhp rayne high has that's a junior and their qb
------------------------------ So Chalmette Owl in your area what's different about Karr and Warren Easton open enrollment to the "select schools"?
Get a CLUE the public schools aren't as the disadvantage you wanna believe! and what they wanna sell to the general public!
