Yeah go ahead and listen to SixPack he’s a good example of why we have the split.
He hates me and therefore just wants to tear me down.
The split exist not to try to level some playing field it’s we hate y’all so get out of our playoffs.

There are no advantages. It is all fake news. Always was. That's bull crap Mr. Logic. The only fake news is your last sentence.
The lines may be grey now but they weren't back in the day when Curtis and Evangel first began building the teams that started dominating Louisiana football and eventually led to the split. Why do you think the public schools back then were all howling about an unlevel playing field. It's because there was an unlevel playing field, that's why.
The public schools back then were limited to using players only from within their mandated zone. They could not use the sit out rule that would allow them to use players whose residences were outside the mandated zone because federal law and local school board regulations didn't allow out of zone public school students period. So private schools could utilize a sit out rule that was not available to public schools. That was a big private school advantage. And yes, in those days the rules were enforced so don't say they weren't.
You think Evangel, a 2A size school, dominated La. Class 5A, won a national championship, ran up 60 straight wins including beating West Monroe over and over and defeated some of the best teams in America using only athletes from inside Huntington's little attendance zone. Really? And all the while Huntington, a public school using the same zone never even won a district championship? Right.

Back in those days I truly was too young and dumb to know or care. As of today and as far back as those by laws were accepted, there is no advantage for me at least, that I have seen. The federal law thing I did not know. You are teaching me there. Ouachita Parish schools still go by the attendance and living with the zone to play. There is no sit out rule I was told by the gentlemen who conversed with me and ruled over this subject here in my neck of the woods. You have to live in the zone. But he did say that people use phony addresses and it is up to the LHSAA to catch that. And he knows they do not. That is on the particular school boards though. If they are too dumb not to allow open enrollment then that is on them, or even the sit our rule made by the LHSAA. Private schools get it. And allow it. Public schools seem hell bent on making parents lives hell for getting their kid to where they wish to send them within their tax paying area. A crock of s***.

Course the big public schools and the Lhsaa making them play down to their classification didn’t help.

I played in the 90’s, for a public 5A school at the time, I’m not sure the 2 teams you mention are the cause of the BS going on now, from what I remember both of the schools you’re talking about played up, both schools wanted to play 5A but the LHSAA only allowed them to move up 2 classes from there actual enrollment. So I think JC played 5A and Evangel played 3A. So it’s the LHSAA’s fault in my opinion.

After Evangel kept beating West Monroe and Curtis ruled 4a the lhsaa forced both teams to play down into their enrollment classification in 2005. Evangel dropped back to 1a and Curtis had to go to 2a. So this “” Indy keeps referring too was being played by the two best teams in the state well before what we have now.

So is it there fault or LHSAA’s fault Ok so maybe I’m not explaining myself very well. They were allowed to play up. I do think during the 90s they may have capped it at a max of two classifications. John Curtis moved to 4a and Evangel moved to 3a. They dominated for the most part if I recall. Then in 2000 I’m pretty sure they did away with that and allowed them to move up as high as they wanted. Evangel bumped up to 5a, Curtis stayed at 4a. Evangel made it to semi a year or two then knocked out west Monroe three years in a row. At that time it looked like evangel and Curtis had control of both divisions. The big money public schools in 4a and 5a didn’t like it and in 2005 the lhsaa forced evangel to drop from 5a back to 1a and Curtis dropped back to 2a. As for dodging I was referencing how Curtis and Evangel did a good job of avoiding each other at the time. Curtis could have bumped to 5a, Evangel could have dropped to 4a.

Where have I come out blazing like your sorry butt just did. I made clear i read the by laws dip stick. Have You? Likely not. I read them front to end. There is no advantage anymore at all. None zero except for public school districts (or private) that wish to create their own laws in reference to athletics and attendance zones. You came across too harsh too fast and at least you showed your hand. The LHSAA made a clean playing field whenever they instituted the new laws and yet STILL some public schools have ****ed themselves by keeping old outdated attendance zone s*** alive. Change it and allow kids to go where they wish, they do it anyways. Just because parents wish to send their kids to a private school that will accept them outside their zone doesn't mean public's should do the opposite. West Monroe was bringing in players from all over the damn REGION back in the 90's. Willis Britton would head from union parish to WM every morning and Fitzugh would wait outside and wave every day almost as he passed by just to egg it on. He knew they lied and he was still in Union Parish. So stop with it man. Just stop. You will lose. Because I've seen it all just about and heard it all from coaches to players. Everyone is to blame. Every damn one

Did you read the last part of my statement regarding the public schools and the lhsaa being partly to blame. Yes man I know all about what west Monroe does, matter of fact they plucked our starting quarterback back in 2000. Moved the whole family up there. Who suffered in the whole deal? Wasn’t Curtis or evangel. Wasn’t west Monroe or Neville. Nope, they were all getting what they wanted. It was the poor butt rural schools that were building a team out of the 100 kids they had available that suffered. They the ones getting their best athletes plucked left and right. Everyone kept turning a blind eye then when this thing finally happens in 2013 it’s their fault? But at the end of the day those poor butt rural schools had the same number of votes as the evangels and west monroes once this thing happened in 2013.

On the flip side, I'm old enough to have seen Winnfield beat John Curtis in a state championship game. What a game that was. Thomas King, who I became friends with years later in college, was Winnfield's quarterback. He and this RB who doubled up as their kicker played great. Lol, yes I’m that old too. What a great game. Garlon Powell was our rb/kicker. That was a once in a lifetime team loaded with talent on both sides. Think we may have had 4 or 5 LSU signees on that team and a couple more with that potential. Kind of what it takes to compete against Curtis. Had two future nfl kids on that 2011 team and couldn’t match up. The difference between those teams and what makes John Curtis so good year after year is the matchup in the trenches. 82 we could match , 2011 we couldn’t Slow down Hoss! There were zero LSU signees on that 82 team. King went to ULL Powell to Tech Mills to McNeese One of the receivers to NLU Huckaby to BYU Grigg went to Tech but for track And the ‘11 team had Moore, who got a free agent contract with the Chiefs out of Nebraska. No other player on that team came anywhere close to the NFL.

Chatman, Campbell, and poised in 79 and Jeffery Dale in 80. Think the 79 team was last public standing in playoffs got knocked out by Curtis in the semis. Or I guess you could technically use 78 as having five although woody Grigg chose ole miss everyone in the country wanted him. As for 2011, I count getting a free agent contract in the nfl as being “nfl” talent. Second one on the team was a sopre by the name of DJ Charm who playing for the Jaguars now. Lost him 2012 when he transferred to ASh. Very unfortunate he didn’t stay to take over for Alonzowhen he left in 11’. May have helped us out in 12 and 13 having an athlete like him on the team.

I apologize for NFL error. Forgot all about DJ being there. Had he not transferred to ASH, I think Winnfield walks to the title in ‘13. We were VERY good defensively but VERY limited offensively. ( wouldnt have won it in ‘12. No one was beating Curtis that year) And I also count Alonzo as an NFL guy

What a total load of crap. LOL. But nice try at a save. No one buys it though. Shows weakness when someone can't just say, "Yea, I was wrong on that one". Well what else would you expect from someone who thinks private schools with open border enrollment areas have no athletic advantage over public schools with mandatory neighborhood enrollment zones. This would be a great headline for the mainstream media. A leading statement that is designed to sway opinion, but bears no resemblance to reality. In other words, FAKE NEWS.

So I guess we are both right, JC and Evangel weren’t “dodging” they both wanted to play up against the big boys, they weren’t allowed. A lot of those 5A teams could have beat them during that time. Gotcha, yea I didn’t take it that way, sorry you’re right about that.

The River Ridge zone genes must be one of a kind, and going way back, lol. I think it must be something in the water. It has a really shiny blue color to it
