I know some of us like turf over grass but a lot of us still like the traditional natural grass field so what is the best grass field you’ve ever been on?

The field at the Louisiana School for the Deaf had one of the nicest grass fields in the Baton Rouge area. Always enjoyed playing there. That was back in the 80s so I'm not sure what it's like today.
The LSU practice field where u-high played was pretty nice too.

Catholic NI and Church Point have great grass fields but the very best was STM before they put turf.

Haynesville has a very nice real grass field. The coaches spend a lot of time keeping it in good condition. The beginning of the year, the field looks like artificial turf, but by the time the cold weather/rain rolls around late in the season, the field gets tore up. Maybe this year we won’t get the monsoon’s we got every week like we did last year...

Myself, being older, much rather the grass fields. Playing in the mud and water. I can still remember that. Eunice-Kaplan last year was the first really muddy game I've seen in a while.

Without any doubt, Tallulah High, back in the late 80's and early 90's. The grass was very well kept and probably a little taller than a lot of fields. A lot of time was spent on that hallowed ground. Now Sadly it looks like a waste land.

Speaking of the Baton Rouge area, there really isn't one that sticks out for me.
In November, U High is good, Parkview is good (Haven't been there in a while, not sure they still have grass). Central is usually pretty beat up. Which is strange, because they have one of the highest crowns in town. Olympia and Memorial are OK, depending on the rain. East Ascenion and St. Amant are just OK. Central Private was OK, but I've only photographed them in August. Same for Siliman. Dunham was terrible the last time I was there. Episcopal is OK.
Nobody is really head and shoulders above the rest, to me.

I don’t know about the best, but I can tell you about the worst back in the day. Pan American stadium by City Park. When you were lucky enough to fall where grass was still present, you had to get up and brush off all the red ants that crawled on you while you were down there. It wasn't uncommon to fall in red ant piles in the few places on the field that still had grass. I won’t even get into the “pot holes” on the field.

Notre Dame of Crowley has the best grass field I've ever been on, whether it be at Crowley or Rayne High. Kinder, Oakdale and Gueydan have nice grass fields too. The worst that I've ever played on was South Cameron, red ant beds everywhere and holes to boot.

They brought in sand for the potholes, I was a sopre and the only reason I was able to get in the game was because the guy in front of me had contacts and he kept getting sand in his eyes.

Iowa, Kinder, Welsh. Worst field I ever played on was Sprinhill back in 2006. I think most of that was contributed to bad weather in the days leading up to the game but it was spongy and muddy. Too it off it got down to 17degrees that night

Kentwood !! Under the tower !! They would have a patch of dirt at each 30 yard line like a pitchers mound and the sidelines are always filled with mud. Best would be St Charles Catholic or Evangel

We lost by 11 and our kickoff team gave up 2 touchdowns the game was alot closer than the score suggested. Loved the atmosphere of it looking back now one of my favorite games I played in (aside from temp and field conditions) I just remember both the Springhill team and the fans being a class act. I can still hear that chainsaw when they scored. It still haunts me lol

Kinder, Elton, La Grange. Our field drains really well and Elton / La Grange fields were well kept and looked and felt good. Worst: S. Cameron had a crappy field but not as bad as Pickering. Pickering had dips and holes and they liked to burn crosses behind the visitor bleachers. Oh yea, and their chain gang liked to listen to the opposing coach call plays then tell their defense where the play was going.

Best I’ve ever been on is University Lab, Sam Houston, Lake Arthur, and Welsh. Probably doesn't hurt that U-High benefits from having LSU's turf crew with the upkeep and cutting of the field.
