McNeese Northwestern St Nicholls UCA Incarnate Word Houston Baptist Southeastern I guess they’ll have some work to do with scheduling I expect the Southland will try to add a few teams to fill out their ranks again. Doubt they will try to get back over 12, I think it's more likely they try to get to 9 or 10. The news is officialSam Houston State, Abilene Christian, Lamar, and Stephen F. Austin will leave the Southland and join the WAC on July 1, 2021 Southern Utah will leave the Big Sky and join the WAC on July 1, 2022. www.ksl.com/article/50087366/after-10-year-hiatus-wac-football-returning-with-suu-dixie-leading-the-charge Other news that has come out today:Chicago State is departing the WAC and will essentially be a D1 independent until they can find a conference. They have opted out of basketball season due to COVID. Those in charge of the financially struggling athletic department insist that dropping down to D2, D3, or NAIA is not happening and they will remain in Division 1. Chicago State University voluntarily will exit following the 2021-22 academic year. Following is a statement from CSU President Zaldwaynaka Scott: "Since joining the conference in 2013, Chicago State University has been a proud member of the Western Athletic Conference. When the WAC added six member-institutions in 2013, including Chicago State, the original concept was to develop a Midwest division with Chicago State and University of Missouri – Kansas City as the anchors for potential Midwest WAC expansion. With UMKC's departure in 2020 and the recent WAC expansion in southern and southwestern states, Chicago State's membership is no longer geographically sustainable. Thus, with assistance and support from the conference, Chicago State is voluntarily ending its membership on June 30, 2022. Chicago State has enjoyed its time in the WAC and is looking forward to finding new membership." Current WAC member Texas-Rio Grande Valley has submitted a plan to start a football program within the next five years and as soon as 2023. www.texasfootball.com/article/2021/01/14/utrgv-commits-to-add-fcs-football-by-2024?ref=article_preview_img
