The Pelicans are now 10-5
They have lost to the following:
Beau Chene by 1 (Pels had 6 players at game) #23 in 4A
Mandeville by 4 ( Pels had 6 players at game) #28 in 5A
Newman by 1 #1 in Division 3
Opelousas by 20 #2 in 4A
University High by 12 #1 in Division 2
All games were away.
Port Allen does have a flaw. They are not a great rebounding team. A team with big, bruising forwards can beat them. I will still take them to make it to state finals against Rayville. Or at some point they will meet Rayville.
That games scares me.

Should be those two teams on a clear path to the finals. Idk what’s even going on with Jonesboro. We’ve had a good bit of COVID problems including our coach having it, and I think the opposing teams aren’t in great situations either. Barely getting to play. Don’t play at all this week. Think they’re one of the better teams in 2A still, but they can’t get any rhythm barely playing

Looks like J-H might finally get their shot at Port Allen. Got the 15 seed after playing only 13 games. They’ve beaten the 6 and 10 seeds this year so I feel they are definitely better than their number. But I still think it’s an extremely low chance Port Allen doesn’t win. Does PA usually stream their games online? Cause I won’t be able to make that trip, but would love to watch the teams battle after I’ve talked trash about em for a year😂

Sometimes they stream their games online. If they do I will post the link on here.
I know they are going to blow out their first round matchup. If the game gets to 25 points the coach will put in reserves. So probably a 20 or so point game. But they could beat that team by 50 if they wanted to.
Port Allen plays great man to man defense. At times full court. It is smothering. They were very close to beating George Washington Carver and Madison Prep. I would say those are 2 of the best 5 teams in the state. Lost by 4 to Carver and 5 to Madison Prep. I went to Madison Prep game and Port Allen missed at least 10 free throws. Should have won. Coulda shoulda woulda I know.
Port Allen is really good. Not better than their team last year. Collin Holoway was the difference and they do not have a player that good this year.
They have about 7 or 8 really good players. Tough as nails and won't back down from any team.
I went to the Port Allen vs Many playoff game in 2019. Port Allen was in control of the game the entire time. It was a low scoring game. I don't know what Many has this year. I looked at their schedule and it is nowhere the caliber that Port Allen played. Many played 1 4A team. The rest 3A and below.
Port Allen played 14 4A or 5A teams. I would argue that Port Allen did not play a single bad team all year besides Istrouma.
I will say Port Allen does not have a single digit game until the finals against Rayville.

Well JH couldn’t make it past the first round. Not surprised honestly. They’re been hit with COVID problems probably as hard as any other team in the state, just couldn’t get consistency going with a young team

Port Allen was basically playing with their JV team during that game.
I would be surprised if Many beat Port Allen. Not saying it is impossible, just unlikely.

My buddy is at the Port Allen vs Avoyelles game.
Port Allen got up 17-0 in first quarter. Coach put in all freshmen.
At halftime Port Allen was up 40-20. The Pelicans could beat that team by 60 points he said.

Many lost to East Feliciana.
I have told this board about Port Allen for about 3 years now. They beat East Feliciana by 7 but they were up by 20 against them and played JV for big parts of that game.
Port Allen beat Avoyelles 78-53. 25 point win. Could have been by 50 easily.
Coach Jones always calls the dogs off against inferior teams.

Rayville will win the next two games by 30 or more points and might score 100 against both teams.
One thing I guarantee is that Rayville will not score anywhere near 100 on Port Allen if they meet again in finals for the third year in a row.
In regulation in 2019 they scored 61 and in regulation in 2020 they scored 70.
This Port Allen defense might be the best of the three years. I can't imagine 2021 Rayville team is better than 2019 undefeated Rayville team led by Mylik Wilson of ULL. He was freshmen of the year in Southland Conference in 2020.
Rayville will not have a difficult game in 2A until they meet Port Allen. Port Allen has St. Helena next. St. Helena does not really have a win over a quality team. Beat Amite and Family Christian out of Baton Rouge. (Class C) Port Allen will win by at least 20.

You might be right about Rayville not scoring near 100 on port Allen. But if i was you I wouldn't bet money on it.

I don't bet on high school.
I am confident Rayville will not score 100. They won't score 80 in regulation.

Rayville 130 Morris jeff 56. I hope port Allen has a great defense there going to need it. Rayville has one heck of an offense.

Rayville 130 Morris jeff 56. I hope port Allen has a great defense there going to need it. Rayville has one heck of an offense. lot of Rayville's offense is turning defense into offense. Mo Jeff from what I saw likes to press so that also probably played into that.

I went to game last night. Game was easy
Port Allen won 68-38. St. Helena had 22 going into 4th quarter. Port Allen played multiple freshmen in 4th quarter.

Guys. Look at 2019 and 2020 bracket at how many points Rayville was scoring.
Then look at what Port Allen held them to. 61 in 2019 and 70 in 2020 in regulation.
Port Allen's defense is better this year than the last two years. They have 7 players that play really good defense. They can play full court man, a very active zone, trapping defense, and they have multiple presses . All 7 players are very quick on defense.
Port Allen's offense is not as good as last year. However they have a very good point guard, two really good shooters, a 6"5 post man and 6"4 post man. Both of them can shoot three pointers also. Port Allen has the same coach. Coach Jones will not play into Rayville's strengths. I'm not guaranteeing a win, but I am guaranteeing a dog fight.
