When the split happened several years ago, wasn't Madison Prep put in with the select schools? Some state senator got it changed?? That’s bogus. When the spit happens MPA⚡️was still a Class B charter school with less than 100 students. And if the senator that you’re referring to is C. Fields, let me be the first to illuminated that he has no love for MPA⚡️. Read this. Maybe it will offer some clarity as to the “why?”. www.theadvocate.com/baton_rouge/sports/high_schools/article_ffb6efa0-8d98-11e6-8bef-db160c9666d2.html

Would be interested at how many 6'0 180 lb 4.7 40 running freshmen get the reject letter, while the 5'7 stoner who has already been processed in the juvenile penal system gets accepted. With regards to competitive athletic balance, I would say that having a vast geographic area or large population that can potentially enroll in a school has a much greater impact (and is much more like a "select" school) than not being able to turn away students if there is room is like being "non select" I don't think anyone with any understanding of the athletic process would believe that "not being able to turn away students if we have space" as the AD says in the referenced article suggests that the school is more similar to Pearl River High School, or some other 3A neighborhood school than being able to enroll anyone who lives EBR makes the school more similar to Baton Rouge Catholic or Lafayette Christian, or John Curtis.

First let me say that I 100% agree with you. But I also laughed at “ Would be interested at how many 6'0 180 lb 4.7 40 running freshmen get the reject letter” I’m picturing the section on the school application that asks “Height/weight and 40 time” 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣🤣

Some say that all of this open enrollment, charter school, magnet school, select school. non-select school BS can disappear if you end the split. Of course, if you end the split, some non-select schools, who truly get their players solely from their communities, will be at some disadvantage, but heck, they are somewhat at a disadvantage now, with having to compete against lots of non-select schools hiding behind the "magnet", "charter", or "open enrollment' name tags. It's a very complicated situation when you get into the politics of it. When there are non-select schools who are keeping their out of zone enrollment just under the required percentage, yet 80% of that required percentage are athletes (football players), that is an issue.
It's a complicated situation which begs to answer the question of "WHAT IS FAIR?" Truly, what is fair? Is the split fair when you have certain non-select schools who are manipulating or taking advantage of the rules to attract very talented athletes in a effort to build better football programs and stay non-select? Is ending the split fair where you will place schools like Rayville, Jenerette, and Rospine, in the same class as LCA, Notre Dame, and St. Charles? Is ending the split in certain classes like 5A and 4A, while keeping other classes split, fair? Who knows. It's a situation where I really don't see a simple answer to, that will make sense to every principal and every school. Personally, I wish the split would end, but I do understand the side of the argument of the people who are pro-split.

Split them in 1A and 2A. The rest all play together by classification.
7 champs. Problem solved.

Split them in 1A and 2A. The rest all play together by classification. 7 champs. Problem solved. Partial discrimination is still discrimination. But the new administration is letting girls who identify as boys play, and their two dads will want them to get a trophy so maybe that will water down the better teams?

As long as the LHSAA allows Karr to play in the public non-select classification, then there shouldn't be much to say about any school who wants to do the same.

But they are perfectly okay to keep all the losing charter and magnate schools.
