If he is interested, it is time for John Barron to get his shot!

Time was right. Fitz was on his way out. Fitz is a very good man, I'm not sure he's a great coach. Best of luck on your new endeavor.
Also: Todd Garvin
Also Also: Have we gone this long in the thread without someone saying CJ Gatlin???

It's either going to be Todd Garvin or Benji Lewis. My money is on Garvin.

My top three guesses:
Toddy Garvin - QB Coach, Ruston (Ouachita alumni) Andy Robinson - HC, St. Frederick (former Ouachita OC) Larry Foster - OL Coach, Sterlington (former Ouachita OL coach)

Those three are likely candidates. I think one of those names would be a disaster. I think two other candidates are Benji Lewis who i know they've had interest in in the past and Marcus yanez.

I see several potentially disastrous names listed above. Should be quite a show.

Right now in the Monroe area it is mostly all about Neville and WM but not too many years ago Ouachita could play with either of those two. And if you want to go way back before the Coach Don Shows years Ouachita pretty much owned West Monroe and held their own with Neville. But getting things turned back around to those days won't be easy.

Seems to me the safe pick is Benji Lewis

Principal has to be found first. Any ideas who that will be?
I believe the last holdover from the bygone era of 1980' and 90's (Vallery boys) are finally gone with Long retiring.
I cant think of anyone else who was associated with those days who has power anymore at the school. So, no yes man will be hired if they hire the right pricipal who sees the potential to build the program with the right hire. Everything is there to be great: facilities, money, players. Problem has been in admin.
Those jokers made a mockery of Ouachita football since Collins left.

What about Fitzhugh at OCS, or even their OC Vidrine? Both are familiar with the area?

If Steven Fitzhugh is the next coach at Ouachita I'll buy season tickets at Neville. It's never going to happen.

He is ready and been groomed for years for this. Hand the keys and let him eat, cause he hungry. If he is a slam dunk he could be there for a long long time seeing as he is only 38 i believe. Only school left for big change is WM. They better not wait too long as schools down south are fast beating the brakes off NELA schools in program growth and it is light speed to snail in comparison.

Plus Ouachita is Garvins dream job. He wants to be there and that goes a long way to building a program. If I was in charge I'd say give him his shot.

As great a coach as Fitzhugh is, I do not believe his success at OCS would translate to Ouachita. The coaching style and things he does at OCS would, in my opinion, not be effective with the kids at Ouachita.
Ouachita needs a Brad Bradshaw clone.

I think that Clone would get fired and/or arrested at 99.9% of schools out there today. He was a perfect fit, at a perfect time, in a perfect place for him.

They going to Bachman first. He most likely going to say no. Also hearing West Monroe boosters are want Bachman bad. Arledge must retire and then look out.

Can have a coaching change in NELA without mentioning 3 names in no particular order:
1) Matt Middleton 2) Bo Barton 3) Joe Spatafora

1) Reasons it wont happen 2) Don't know why this wouldn't happen 3) You can't yell what he yelled in front of people and go be head coach at a majority black school (except in Union parish apparently)
