I agree it's really not a big deal people worry about little things too much. People just look for a reason to grip sometimes.

LCA joins ND and St. Charles in the quarterfinals after a couple of blowouts yesterday. Looked pretty rough from the scores. Some other tight games in DIII. I think this might end up being the most competitive division.

I think this might end up being the most competitive division. That Cristo Rey team LCA played has no business in postseason baseball. Knights scored 20 runs in the first inning with just one out. They forfeited the final two outs and didn’t bat again. They let Cristo Rey hit long enough for the required outs to make the game official (9 outs, all of which were strikeouts). And then game two was 20-0, also in 3 innings

And I doubt they brought many fans to pull in some money at the gate or concessions. Waste of time, miserable to watch, but I guess it gave you something to do on a Thursday night.

So LCA was suppose to pick the cost based off the team they were playing? It was a playoff double header in the books and had to pay a three man crew from out of town for a doubleheader. I’m sure the umpires still wanted their full payment for two games.

Looks like the Quarters are mostly set (except DQ/Many, Ruston/Central-BR, and lower classes bringing up the rear, LOL)
Good luck to all, GEAUX PIOS!

Well I'm guessing since it was a DH and 3 umpires you have to find a way to pay them.

Technically a game is NOT official until 5 innings are completed (4.5 innings if the home team is leading). Check the official score on the bracket at the LHSAA website. Apparently both games were reported as 5 inning games.

That info came from the article in the Advocate so I’m not sure if that was it or maybe the Cristo Rey coach threw in the towel? Maybe there’s a rule for double headers? Maybe 20 runs after 3 is enough? Not sure. Either way, 1 inning in each of the games was enough. It was brutal.

Select schools do have a certain level of autonomy now. Maybe they decided to use the 3 inning, 15 run rule or perhaps they just decided enough is enough and agreed to just report it as a 5 inning, 10 run rule game. The rest of the games should be competitive. I'll pick.........
Notre Dame St. Thomas Aquinas
Ascension Episcopal St. Charles

Just an FYI, coaches cards WILL be accepted at Gates 40 and 41 at the state baseball tournament in Sulphur. Must have coaches card and photo ID. Faculty, Lifetime, and Admin cards admit cardholder plus a guest, Non-Faculty and Officials cards admit only cardholder

Not a big deal here but if it were a high profile team who whipped a 32 seed in the opening round and word got out that only 3 innings were played, I'd bet a sharp coach for their 2nd round opponent would report it to LHSAA.

I’m sure that between the umpires and the Cristo Rey coach that a decision was made to end it. What can the LHSAA do if one team forfeits a game after 3 innings?

Two huge surprises so far in the playoffs are LaSalle in 1A and Monterey in B.
LaSalle was struggling earlier in the year, but have now battled their way to the into the Semis, after destroying a pretty good Merryville team. Great job by Michael Duke, Joel Simms and Tim Wesson!
Monterey has been the biggest surprise of all. I saw them play Avoyelles Charter early in the year and thought that they'd be one and done come playoff time, but somewhere along the way, Eric Richard got those guys lined out, and they have pulled off three upsets in a row, including shutting out a very good Pitkin team in the Quarters, and beating an even better Florien team in the 2nd round. They are a 20 Seed in the Semis, and they are on a roll!

How does the ticket situation work? You have to buy for specific games or is it like football? Thanks
