Save the conference? I guess that depends on the definition of save. According to a usa today report from 2018-2019 Texas was number 1 in the country in athletic revenue with $223.8 million. OU was 8th with $163.1 million. You have to go all the way down to #28 to find a Big 12 team (Kansas) at $121.5 Million. Then to #40 to find the next Big 12 team (West Virginia at $102.6). UCF and Cincy brought in about $69 million each, with Houston reporting about $75 million. BYU was not listed. Obviously this isn't an equal swap. Does it allow the Big 12 to still exist as a viable conference? Probably. Does it keep the Big 12 as a power conference? Regarding football, I honestly would say NO, it doesn't. Not such that their conference champ should be looking towards playoff consideration.
