Sooo, for the past few years I’ve been getting an earful at work from my co-workers that are from Texas(The Allen and Duncanville areas to be exact). We always talk high school football and they always say Texas high school football is way better than Louisiana’s. Of course I argued against that. But I said that to ask a question, why do y’all think that we don’t see all the top dogs in texas (Duncanville, South Lake Carroll, Katy etc) playing our top dogs (Neville, Edna Karr, Catholic-BR, Acadiana, John Curtis, WM, etc) in the battle of the borders?

The Top Texas schools should be better than the top LA schools simply due to the fact that have twice (sometimes 3x's) the student body numbers to get athletes from.
While that isn't always the determining factor in who has the better team, if averaged over time the Texas schools will have an advantage.

Allen and Duncanville are the largest school in the state. The are single town or area high schools. Each school has close to 6500 students in the school . They can have almost 1k kids plus in a graduating class

You can’t compare Texas 6A to anyone here… they actually changed their numbering a few years ago because that class with Allen and Plano schools, etc used to be their 5A. Now their 5A schools are about the size of our 5A

I think a few things that separate Texas high school football and LA ball is the facilities and the coaching. In Texas most high school football coaches make around 100k. Some of the really good ones make a bit more. The facilities also aren’t comparable. It’s the norm for a Texas high school to have an indoor facility. Some are even 100 yards. Nobody in LA has one that I know of. When you combine the athletes with the facilities and the coaching it isn’t close. I think LA has just as good of athletes but the other stuff sets it apart.

Late to this topic but want to chime in, there’s a couple factors, some fact, some opinion. Usually schedules are done 2 years in advance at least(sans the last two years which have been weird) so that makes it tough for coaches to get ll logistics together. But even more than that, and you probably see it everyday, but Texas HSFB doesn’t respect Louisiana HSFB. Texas feels they shouldn’t have to go outside the state of Texas to play anyone unless it’s a top team in the country because those teams you mentioned are normally in the discussion for the mythical national title. Even Mater Dei from California had to go to Texas to play Duncanville. But I agree with whomever said we shouldn’t compare the 2 because it’s a numbers game. We shouldn’t be playing the 6a powers out of Texas. Now I would be here for maybe an aledo vs Zachary/Acadiana/Catholic matchup. Maybe highland park, but I don’t want to see our top teams vs Allen, Duncanville, NorthShore, Westfield, westlake or lake Travis. Too much depth, too many coaches, too many advantages. I say all that to say I’ll still take Louisiana on an individual skill players vs Texas. I take Texas when it comes to QB and Line play

Texas Football > Louisiana football for the simple fact that Louisiana has gone out of it's way to make coaching and education in general one of the worst possible career paths a person could choose. The talent is there. The coaches are not.
The majority of young men who would have gone into coaching and made great ones are going into anything and everything else.

I think Louisiana has plenty of solid assistant coaches in spite of some of the laughable teaching salaries, but they aren't getting the HC jobs.

Louisiana has a lot of outstanding head coaches and assistants.Coach king at Longview is a former Louisiana coach along with most of his staff is from Louisiana.I truly do not think there is any difference between the good coaches in Louisiana and the good coaches in Texas.I think the biggest Difference is staff size and school size.At the larger Texas schools you will have about 12 assistants just for 11 and 12 grade and a staff of around 5 for sophmore team.In Louisiana most teams practice JV and varsity together because of the lack of coaches and facilities .

Enrollment numbers are not equal. Its like combining West Monroe and Acadiana into one school and playing. Per player Louisiana is very comparable in D1 athletes.

You just proved the point in coaches. Louisiana had coach king but he went to Texas with some assistants. So Louisiana lost coaches to Texas. Texas doesn’t lose head coaches to Louisiana. $$$$
