While there hasn't been much history between these two teams, we have played each other 5 times within the last 12 years and the Bengals are probably the 4A team we have played the most often with the exception of Livonia and St. Michael. Although with the two latter schools, we mostly played them when they were still 1A or 2A size and with St. Michael the last time we played them in the regular season they were still called Bishop Sullivan. We did play St. Michael in the Redemptorist Jamboree a couple of times when that was still a thing.
The Eagles hold a 4-1 advantage over the Bengals with Belaire's only win in the series coming in last season's overtime game. Eagle wins: 2009 - 38-0 2010 - 34-20 2011 - 51-22 2019 - 10-8
Bengal wins: 2020 - 20-14
We were scheduled to play in week 1 of the 2012 season, but that game was canceled due to Hurricane Isaac.
The 2011 game saw the Eagles set one record and tied 2 others. The Eagle offense set a team record for the most first downs in a game with 28 earned. Also in that game Christian Primeaux tied the 7th place record for most points in a game with 26 (4TDs and 1 2-point PAT). As a team, the Eagles tied for #11 most rushing yards in a game. They had 57 carries for 458 yards and 7 TDs.
The 2019 game saw the Eagle tie the 5th longest pass play in school history when Isaiah Jones hit Grant Blanchard for an 80 yard score in the 3rd to give the Eagles the lead. Belaire would come back to score in the 4th to take an 8-7 advantage, but Jacob Schlatre kicked a last minute field goal for the Eagles and Grant Blanchard picked off a Bengal pass at the end of the game to preserve the win.

Belaire is getting better and the running back jeter is legit. Should be a good one Jeter is definitely for real. We'll need to keep him contained as much as possible to have a shot.

Bengals win 35-6. I was surprised with Belaire's ability to control the line of scrimmage. They have gotten much better. No shame in losing to a team who is simply bigger and faster than you are.
Belaire won't be shocking the 4A world this year. They probably won't beat Plaquemine or Liberty, but they should be able to take care of the rest their district foes.
Not much else to say about this game. We just got beat by a better team.

He coached my son at CSAL Middle { Madison Prep’s middle school } and lead them to their 1st undefeated season. He was in line to take over at Prep but got derailed by “scandal”. About 90% of those starters from MPA’s championship team were the players he bought in when he took the job. Belaire is on the come up with him at wheel….

Yes Belaire is on the way up, I love to see programs improve, St. Michael will be tough and Istrouma might be district champs.

I can't see Plaquemine being consistent enough to win it, though I can see them playing spoiler to someone. But yes, while Belaire probably isn't quite there yet, they're not a team to come in underprepared for, they won't just roll over.
