Rummel’s 31-13 victory over the Cavs in Shreveport last season, started the Cavs are on an 11-game win streak. Now the Cavs are headed to Metairie, which is about a 5-hour bus ride. The Raiders were solid last year with lots of experience, talent, and depth, but gone are stars, RB Logan Diggs (Notre Dame), QB Kyle Wickersham (Richmond), LB Kolbe Fields (Memphis) and DE Caboz Craig (Nicholls). In to replace them, and many more talented players, are some young players with limited of playing time, including a few freshmen who will have to step up and mature quickly. Last week, the raiders struggle to edge a very weak Slidell team 12-11. This is a Slidell team that had to replace 18 starters from last season. Slidell has a very weak defense and still held the raiders to 12 points.
Offensively for Rummel, junior, Casey Avrard takes over at the QB spot. Avrad is a very good athlete with a good arm but doesn’t have much time under center. Junior, Ahmad Garner and sopre, Jaidyn Martin, will take over as the RBs. Both are first year starters, with very limited playing time. Their strength on offensive will be their receiving corp as both starting receivers returning as well as the starting TE. Senior, Nicholas Howard is back after 28 catches for 341 yards and 7 touchdowns last season. Senior, Cameron Francioni also returns after catching 9 passes for 120 yards and 2 touchdowns. Senior TE, Tyronne Hayes had 17 catches for 274 yards and 2 scores last season. The O-Line only returns 2 starters in Christian Stamps and Davell Dixon. It is this inexperience in both the O-line and the QB spot that I feel will hurt the Raiders offense and limit their ability to score with Calvary.
Defensively, the Raiders will struggle. Basically, the entire defense is new. Freshman, Calvin Sparrow is very talented, but the raiders are decimated on the defensive side of the ball. New LBs and new DBs will be very challenging for the raiders in trying to stop the Cavs LETHAL passing game. Look for Lyddy to go for 300 + in the air tonight. That 5-hour bus ride might affect the Cavs some, but I think that even a lethargic group of Cavs will be enough to overcome the overall inexperience of this Raiders’ team.

Nice write up man!
Who would have thought over the last few years that Rummel would be a home underdog to a 1A team (although Calvary is a heck of a 1A team) traveling 5 hours to play them?

Thanks bro. Yeah, I know. It's crazy. With Rummel's success over the last few years, who would have thought that lots of people feel they are underdogs to a Class 1A school at home. Well that was quick Right off tackle for 70 yards. Not sure where the LB was but that should have been stopped

Looking for Calvary to settle down by the second Q. They are rushing the pass.

Cavs unimpressive so far. Making too many mistakes. Maybe they will regroup at halftime. Rummel isn’t that good of a team to be up 14-7

😂😂…I sure figured the Cavs would turn it up a little in the 2nd half but it ain’t sounding like they are They are struggling to stop that RB. Rummel is a 5A school but I’m Surprised that a bunch of inexperienced underclassmen are winning this game. Rummel had to come back from an 11-0 deceit against a weak Slidell team to win 12-11. Maybe that long bud ride took the wind out of Calvary’s offense. There ain’t no way this defense should hold Calvary to 14 points. The Cavs will probably win D-IV but their offense is struggling tonight.

I don't think the Cavs played anywhere near their type of football, but honestly, they really didn't play all that bad. The offense seemed like they struggled a lot against a defense that I feel is not that good. They just seemed like they couldn't get in rhythm, and I don't what was up with every pass having to be a 60 TD attempt. The Cavs' defense did a very good job. They were aggressive and fast but they just could not contain Rummel's RB, Jaidyn Martin. Like I said, I think they will probably win the D-IV title, but maybe they should stay away from playing Rummel in the future, especially next year.

Calvary = joke There is a reason they play small class ball. So being a small school in a lower classification is a joke? Point out the Calvary fans here that said they were guaranteed to beat Rummel.

Point out the Calvary fans here that said they were guaranteed to beat Rummel. Exactly. Nobody said that. The joke would be a 5A Catholic league school barely beating a small 1A private school. That comment was a joke.
