When the offense scored, they would stay on the field and walk down for the kickoff. After the kickoff, they would stay on the field and play defense. We did what we could with what we had.

I don't think Acadiana or John Curtis are known for a prolific passing game, but it seems to work at the 5A level. Exactly. It doesn't matter what offense you run, if you have talented players and execute it properly, you can be successful. When I was in high school, we ran the Wing T at Ruston and made the Superdome and semifinals in back-to-back seasons. I'm a spread guy. It's not the most exciting offense to me. But it worked. Because we had great players who executed what they were asked to do. Acadiana has the horses to open up the playbook right now, but historically they have beaten the crap out of a lot of people by simply running the ball down their throats with the veer. Same when I was at Byrd during my high school days. Nearly got to the semis in 2002 if not for a blocked kick against Rummel and you see what the Jackets were able to do with Suggs after that especially with a good defense. The schedule is brutal, but if Boone can shore up the defense, that will help eventually. Those two years at Avoyelles that Sonny mentioned, Boone was just as proud of how his defense performed.

All of you guys comparing Curtis and Acadiana's veer and the Ruston powerhouse teams of the 80's and 90's running the Wing-T to what Boone runs are leaving out some glaring absolutes. A) Every one of those examples play or played outstanding defense and shut opponents down the majority of the time and give the ball back to their offense. B) Every one of those teams have or had way above average special teams in every phase of the kicking game and it allows them huge advantages against lesser coached and prepared teams in possesions and field position. The only similarity between your examples and Boone is that all those teams run slow, methodical, time consuming offenses designed to burn clock, shorten the game and limit possessions by the opponent. Boone doesn't play defense or participate in special teams. There is no comparison. Disgruntled blah blah blah

What sport? Judging by what's been going on everywhere this Spring, maybe I should ask "how many sports".

What sport? Judging by what's been going on everywhere this Spring, maybe I should ask "how many sports". Baseball would be my guess. They are about to be looking for a whole new staff according to what I was told at lunch today. Too stupid to understand that winning 20+ games and getting beat by one run in the Quarterfinals is pretty impressive in Coushatta and way more important than the Superintendent's obsession with her son being coddled. Curious to see just how many coaches the board there is going to allow this woman to run off before they've had enough.

Basile has been closed and they already did their interviews. Last I heard they had notified guys that didn’t make the cut that they were no longer being considered. That’s all I got at this point.

With all due respect, what successful former head coaches are looking for jobs at places like Basile? 1A public schools are where a “guy with zero experience as a head coach” gets a shot to become a good head coach. Would a guy who’s not been successful as a head coach be a better option just because he’s held that title somewhere previously?

He isn't the first guy we hire with "zero" head coaching experience. In fact, in the last 25 years we have hired 3 that were assistant coaches. All have been successful. Stick with cenla football.

This was a very good hire by Basile. Coach Guillory has a ton of high level experience as an assistant and coordinator under some very good HCs. The program is in good hands.
