You will have to wait until Monday for the announcement. But I'll give you a hint. He currently coaches a team with the mascot of Panthers. Can we drop the colors? 😂

Would be shocked if it was a Cenla coach, just don't think that's possible. Likely a Monroe area coach if it's not a NWLA guy.

I can't tell who it is. I can tell you it's not Lee Doty from sterlington. Doty will be at sterlington til he retires. Some people say it's not going to be that far off.

It’s McLaughlin from Buckeye.
Shreve will continue to be all offense, no defense just like every other team in their district. I will admit that McLaughlin perked up the offense at a very slow, small country school. He will make it fun with Shreve’s talent.

Great hire for Captain Shreve.I also hear that Buckeye has their guy in mind to replace him. That news may come as a surprise as well if true.

Nah. They aren’t celebrating just yet. McLaughlin was OC at ASH when they were 5A runner up in 2020. His offense at Buckeye was impressive this year with small, weak, slow players.
It may take him a year to get his system in but by year two with the talent at Shreve he will be scoring 40-50 a game and will be right there with Airline.
My only hope for him is that he learned from Bachman at ASH that you better have a defense to go with that offense if you want to succeed.
Overall I think this is a slam dunk hire for Shreve. Much better than any of the carbon copy offensive gurus in that district or area that were available.

I’m liking Nat Central and Jess Curtis in that district more and more the way everyone else is trying to put up points… at least he had a defense at his previous stops and the year 1 growing pains should have passed. They were in a lot of games and didn’t really finish

Don't know anything about that guy though. If it's a Cenla guy I'd say Feaster!! lol Pretty sure it's not Jimmie Hillman. His wife's family is from the Bunkie area, and she is the Bunkie softball coach. Ben McLaughlin would be a very interesting hire. He's a former OC at Louisiana College and ASH under Bachman, and his offense put up some major numbers this year. At Shreve, he'd get much better athletes and could put together some semblance of a defense.

Much better than any of the carbon copy offensive gurus in that district or area that were available. Ben knows that you have to field a defense. Unfortunately at Buckeye, he had very limited athletes and felt like his best shot at being competitive was putting them on offense and playing as fast as possible. I imagine with more athletes at Shreve, many of them will end up on the defensive side of the ball. McLaughlin knows football -- was an All-American as a QB at LC, highly successful OC in college and Class 5A, and turned around a program that was basically dead when he arrived.

It isn’t Ben but he definitely didn’t “turn it down” and he was not a successful OC in college. I don’t think he had a winning season. He did a good job at buckeye for what he had played and facility wise but cenla small ball and NWLA big boy ball are 2 different stories. Idk that one year at ASH makes him the guy for this job. Definately isn’t coy brotherton or sterlington HC either lol

I guess a better term instead of turned down the job would be "pulled out of the interview process," but I'm pretty sure it was a done deal since we had folks on here leaking that he was the guy and would be announced as the new coach on Monday.

I am not crapping on anyone. Ben is a good guy. Just wanted to inform the ones who have started this whole false statement of him being the guy and him turning down captain shreve to stay at buckeye highschool lol. Some people just don’t know what they’re talking about and want to start rumors. Btw it isn’t my job lol. Just an alum with good inside knowledge
