Hard to find teams to schedule if you are good. The power ranking make everyone try to play easy games. It makes for great games from the best teams.Teams like Catholic,Acadiana, and STM have brutal schedules because no one else will play them.

Good programs ran by truly competitive coaches aren't afraid to go play other good programs - they might not win as many games as they could if they were playing powderpuffs, but they're well-seasoned come playoff time and still make deep runs even when they have "down" years in terms of overall wins. I'm reminded of some of Vic's teams at Oak Grove who would go 5-5 in the regular season and they win or at least play in the dome year after year. Coach Gregory has continued that approach - I think it was 2016 or 2017, they started out 0-3 and everyone was griping, then they went all the way to the dome and lost a one TD game to Haynesville. Both of those programs are great programs, not afraid of anybody. I don't understand how coaches at some schools enjoy going undefeated or winning 8+ games in regular season when they're all running clock by halftime. Go have the cahones to play people who can compete with you. Top-tier should play top-tier, middle-of-the-road should try and play mostly middle-of-the-road, and let the teams that struggle play themselves - it would benefit everyone if that was the case, but unfortunately that never happens in reality.

While Oak Grove fans appreciate you pointing out that Oak Grove always plays tough schedules outside district, your statements were inaccurate: Oak Grove has never gone 5-5 and then gone to the Dome. 7-3 is the worst they’ve ever gone in a year that they ended up in the Dome. Oak Grove has never lost to Haynesville in the Dome. They are 2-0 versus the Tornado there.

Indeed, I stand corrected - I was getting my histories mixed up - looking back at MaxPreps, I was confusing 2016 & 2021. 2016 was the year I was thinking of, I had forgotten about 2021. In both years O-G started out 0-3 (Mangham, OCS and Sterlington in 2021, then Mangham, Northwood-Shreve and Sterlington in 2016). In both years, it was actually the semifinals, with OG losing to eventual champion Logansport in 2021 and Haynesville in 2016. So, I appreciate the correction. The principle of the statement remains the same though - history tends to show that Oak Grove will play anyone, anytime, anywhere, and they always make deep playoff pushes regardless. I know that's why I personally have great respect for that program.

I even like this one with the flashlight and Oak Grove finding Red River. Very creative! You do realize that Oak Grove has 7 district games right? And that only left 3 openings in their schedule. They are opening up with Calvary, which will be one of the 10 best teams in the state, regardless of class next year. They follow that up with a pretty tough game against a better than average 4A Crossett team out of Arkansas. I'd compare that to playing West Ouachita or perhaps Minden or Leesville. I'd say they filled those two spots with some pretty good competition. Red River being in the third spot may be a combination of nobody wanting to play Oak Grove, other teams already being committed in that spot, or other teams having district games that week and unable to play. I have no idea what happened with the Sterlington game. Don't care. I doubt Neville or Ouachita either one wanted to to play a 2A school....especially Ouachita after what happened this past season. Union may have already been committed to other games. Oak Grove and Farmerville/Union have played non-district games with each other many, many times over the last 40 years, so neither is avoiding the other. Oak Grove will be moving up to Division III NS this year. How about we let their schedule play out and see where they end up in late November or early December and then evaluate that schedule.

considering we have an open date, I would assume it's Arledge's schedule. Have you seen Ruston's schedule? ASH's schedule? You are really impressed with WM's?

The whole thing hinges on Scotlandville…

The whole thing hinges on Scotlandville… And that's kinda sad considering the only reason they are on the schedule is they will agree to travel both years A
