1a. Acadiana 1b. Notre Dame 2. STM 3. Kinder 4. Teurlings 5. Sulphur 6. Barbe 7. Carencro 8. Rayne 9. Cecilia 10. Catholic NI UP and coming upset minded, gonna make a statement teams for 2018: St. Martinville, Kaplan, Westgate and LaGrange. WHAT HAPPENED? ? SCHOOLS: Breaux Bridge, Comeaux, Northside, Southside, Opelousas, Beau Chene, New Iberia, Lafayette High and Sam Houston. Public schools pendulum swings with a broad swatch. Private schools same ole steady work ethic.

My take on a few of the teams.
St Martinville: Good coach but no youth program. Private schools contact any decent middle school players they have, but haven't been very successful in getting most to transfer. We are working to restart their youth league in the southern part of St Martin this year, but not sure if their youth reps have contacted the coaching staff for help.
Breaux Bridge: Strong youth program of the past is dwindling down and struggling to stay afloat. Tried to get them to join with Loreauville and south St Martin communities, but their refuse to travel and will only hurt themselves. In limbo in regards to coaches right now, but should be able to hire a strong coach to continue moving forward.
Comeaux: Struggling to field teams due to students moving to Southside. Wasn't really a power before so it's no big change.
Southside: Will be strong in the future. They have a ton of players on the roster but only playing JV for 1 more year.
New Iberia: Well, it's New Iberia and that's all you have to say. More athletes on the street than on the roster.

Really think Acadiana will be the top team in the SWL?
Color me shocked: they lost their head coach and over half their senior laden team from last season. I think they slide significantly in their first season just as West Monroe did when Shows first stood down. Will be rough patches ahead for Wrecka Rams but i expect them to bounce back next few years.

Jennings is pretty loaded this year as well. I don't see Welsh beating them this year and I think Welsh is better than Kinder.

If we looking at consistently going to the quarters and beyond for the last 10 years or so, then kinder would be in the top ten. If you looking at just this year then we too high on the list. List title doesnt specify what "best" we talking about.

Based on his post, i'd say consistency over the last years and a pound-for-pound kind of thing. We're in a transitional year as the last of our State Championship players have graduated and a new generation rises to take the reins. Only time will tell how good the 2018 Yellow Jackets will be. I'm very much looking forward to finding out. The season really can't get here fast enough.

In this case, Kinder has a distinct advantage with the large area they serve and thus the #3 ranking. I will love to see how many out of zone students go to school there.

In this case, Kinder has a distinct advantage with the large area they serve and thus the #3 ranking. I will love to see how many out of zone students go to school there. As someone who was born and raised in kinder, and still lives here, i can tell you this.. Oberlin city limits are 6 miles north of kinder, and they have all sports available. Fenton is 5 miles south of kinder and its a K thru 8 school whose kids go to lacassine or welsh for high school. To the east, the parish line is 5 miles from kinder and that is jefferson davis parish, and that starts elton school district, and we will occasionally get some kids from there to play baseball since it is not offered as a sport. Despite the accuser on this site, we may or MAY NOT have 3 kids that were born in elton playing ball in kinder at any given year. To the west, there is the unincorporated area called indian village who all kids go to kinder up until jefferson davis parish starts again about 9 miles from kinder. Most of the property out that way is farmland, probably 200 total people in Indian village. We have ONE feeder school which is kinder elementary. Not several feeders. Also, reeves is to the west, but they have baseball and basketball, and i know of no kids in recent memory who have played football from that school, because south beau is not too far from there. There you have the truth from someone whose mother, wife,me and now my son has graduated from and lived here. Looking at the area its really not that big, probably the same size as welsh, or rosepine.

Do u even know where Kinder is located ? Kinder is a town of about 2,400 people in Allen Parish that has a population of about 25,000. There are 2 other football playing schools in the parish. The 2 other parish schools don't play football and those towns don't care about football. So what large area are you talking about ? As far as out of zone kids, well i can guarantee u that we don't have even close to as many as Select schools in Baton Rouge, Lafayette, New Orleans, Shreveport, and Monroe. The out of zone kids we do have come to us on their own, we don't go out looking for them and reel them in like some private schools do.

Well said, my wife has taught in kinder for 17 years, and she read this and said"what the hell is he talking about, we graduate 70 to 80 kids in a class a year". And have 50 to 60 kids on the football team, with about 10 seniors in each class, not 20 plus. Not 100 kids on the football team like some 2a schools.....wish i could say we did.

Add 32000 for Jeff Davis parish and you create a pretty good honey hole. It only takes a (select) few extra good kids to get an advantage.

Like i said, believe the people whose hometown they are speaking about. These outsiders dont know, like me trying to say something about breaux bridge, or some other school 50 miles away. How would i know what they doing, or more importantly, why would i care.....funny they just did a major story on crowley area zone busting and not on allen parish.

We also just had a kid transfer in from Vidor and from my understanding was a stud wideout. He will probably be playing wing for us. Just a side note. We are reaching into Texas now as well.
