Who are the favorites in class 2a. Always seems to be a real competitive class along with 3a I think Loreauville should be the favorite in 2A...I believe they only lost two players off of last years state title team. Yes. Loreauville was almost all underclassmen last year. I definitely give them the edge. We lost a couple of starting pitchers but we return a few and a good bit of experience in the field. We'll make another deep run. Lakeside will probably be good again. They have a good baseball tradition. Perhaps Many, DeQuincy and Doyle too. Could be a darkhorse emerge like Loreauville and Welsh did last year.

Who are the favorites in class 2a. Always seems to be a real competitive class along with 3a Winnfield only had 1 position player graduate. Return 2 best pitchers. Lost to welsh in the qtrs last season. Looking to make a run at the semi’s for the first time since like 79.

I was wondering about them. Justin Lawson is the Ace and a senior. But most of the talent is in the junior class. Should be an exciting couple of years for winnfield.

We only lost two guys off of last years Quarterfinal team...more importantly, our top two arms from last year didn’t throw...they are healthy this year. We have a good mix of older pitching and young position players (mostly sopres). Those young guys got valuable deep play off experience last season. Should be a fun bracket this year in AA.

I’d also throw Rosepine in the mix...those guys are usually always around the top.

Ascension Catholic only lost 1 starter. We should do well. Probably will have 7 or 8 seniors in the starting lineup.

Lost our SS and 2B, who were also the leaders of the team. The rest of the lineup was all sophmores, 1 freshman, and 2 juniors. The boys have been working hard in the off season. We will have a very potent offense again, but it all comes down to pitching.

I believe 2A will be interesting this season. I agree that Loureauville should be the favorite. Those boys hit the ball last season as well as any team I have seen in 2A in a while. Kinder of course is always a great baseball team. I believe DeQuincy has an LSU commitment pitcher and they will be strong. Winfield with Lawson and those boys that have been building their baseball program for a while are gonna strong contenders to go deep or win it all. It is Winfield and Many in the same district so that will be some good ball games. Many will most likely have one of the best if not the best team they have ever fielded. Something new for Many is that both the baseball and softball fields are now turf. There are other great 2A teams out there so y’all chip in and post. In select Notre Dame will of course be great as usual. I’m ready for some baseball!!!!

I'm ready for some ball too man. Ascensio Catholic returns 8 starters and should be solid on the hill. Looking forward to a great season. Coach Todd Landry is a dedicated guy to the program and he is the best coach AC ever had in the baseball program hands down. Should be a good year. I only have 1 concern. Geaux Dogs!

After seeing a few scrimmages, it will interesting to see how West Monroe does. They have some college caliber guys coming back but how will they be on the mound. I think they will be able to swing it. Ruston may have a little dip. Outley and Ferr are definitley solid players for them and may have to carry the team on the bump as well as offensively. A sleeper team may be Ouachita. They are really young and it appears will be starting up to 7 sopres. Will be a team to watch and see how the young guys come around throughout the season. Pitching depth may be an issue after Taylor and Shaw. OCS will be solid as usual. I haven't seen Sterlington but I expect them to be contenders. Seaver Sheets is a young player to watch. Tubbs will provide solid innings on the mound for them.

I was just looking at our schedule. Its BRUTAL. Start off the season with 4A State Runner-up DeRidder. Close out February with a road game against 5A State Runner-up Sulphur. Start off March with a trip up north to the Trey Altick Tournament where we play 3A Semifinalist Sterlington then Union Parish on Friday. Play Div III State Runner-up STA then Cedar Creek on Saturday. The next week travel to the Eunice Tournament to play Div V Semifinalist Northside Christian, the next day 4A Quarterfinalist/#1 seed Breaux Bridge, next day Div IV Semifinalist Ouachita Christian. The following weekend play a 3 game set against 3A Quarterfinalist Iowa. We have Div III State Champ Notre Dame and 2A State Runner-up Welsh in our District which means we gotta play them twice. In the middle of that we have non-district games against 2A Quarterfinalist DeQuincy, Div II Quarterfinalist St. Louis, plus games against St. Edmund and Jennings who always have the potential to be good because their in good baseball towns. Our record might not be pretty at the end of the season but we'll be ready for the playoffs and should get a high seed. Almost time to PLAY BALL !!!!

Our schedule is always tough with big games mixed in. Most years we play Cecilia, North Vermilion, and Breaux Bridge (sometimes twice) plus a end of year test game. The end of year game is Teurlings for the second year. Plus we play Notre Dame, VC, and East Ascension in one of the tournaments.
