I’m a big Eric Willis fan so I’d love for that to be true. I can see valid points behind either a young coach or an established coach. With all the drama surrounding Drey’s exit I could see AC wanting a veteran coach to provide stability for the program. On the other hand if you hire the right young coach it could pay off with extra energy into the program. Whoever steps in will have an established support network that will be a huge benefit (purple and gold club, family support). Provide stability? What planet do you live on? Quarterfinals State Runner Up State Runner Up That program was the most stable it’s been in over 25 years. Seems like the instability was created by getting rid of Coach Drey. Back to 1st round exits yearly. Yes, he had stability while he was there BUT he isn’t anymore. He was unexpectedly fired days after a second straight Dome trip. This was followed by a news article and then multiple rumors and allegations. I have zero doubt that the team is hurting. Considering the way he left hiring the wrong coach can easily fracture the team. No doubt some players want Drey as their head coach and respect him. It may take time to win some of those players over. In what world am I living in? I took over a team once that had a coach retire mid season due to personal issues. I saw first hand how they were hurting. It was very difficult. With that experience I believe a veteran coach might help to overcome some of those issues. That is the stability I am talking about. Put in the wrong young coach and it could destroy everything the program has built.

so who would you say is the best guy for the job out of those listed? you can go young. medium. or old. Old with lots of skins on the wall who just wants a check. Young and unproved. Or someone thats been around and is semi proven. AC can't ask for too much better than the candidates listed in this thread From listed I would say Willis or Saia. Both solid coaches who have run solid programs. For a “young” coach I would go Joe Ryan from Denham Springs. Dude was a class act when I met him. Really impressed with everything I’ve seen, heard or read about him. Have heard praise from other coaches. Another young coach I like is Cord Larsen from St Louis. Really good coach and knowledgeable. Doubt he is an option though. Granted those might not be available but it’s all hypothetical at this point.

Bringing in an older veteran coach is exactly what the doctor ordered. The players need a head coach that is a role model that acts well beyond their age.
If winning is the measure of stabilty, then yes the program was stabile. But, that stability was a house of cards and it came crashing down 3 weeks ago.
The program was obviously not the most stable that it’s been in 25 years, when there are multiple rumors and allegations of misconduct by the head coach. Not interested in rehashing that mess, there’s another thread that beat it to death.
The successes of the past three years has as much to do with this Senior class as the coaching. This senior class is a talented group of young men, with 12 of the15 starting.
Any coach will have a difficult time winning next year. They will be returning 5 juniors that have seen meaningful playing time. Those boys are very talented and Barber has a lot of potential, but the majority have only seen practice time. No JV games for the past 2 seasons and the 2nd team only saw the field after 60 points were put up. 2019 is a rebuilding year, regardless.
This team needs a head coach to bring integrity back to the football program and the school’s public image. Right, wrong, or indifferent, the AC football program is the subject of a lot of negative press from the Louisiana high school football public.
At this point, winning is not the most important thing for this program. The program does have strong assistant coaches and volunteers. Coach Schexnaydre is SOLID.

Average Joe, we need something more than an average joe VET. The only thing you said that made sense was Chris is solid. Everything else is the words of a spiteful, mad, angry human. These boys can win next year and in future years with a young, middle aged coach that knows the game. An old retired guy is retired for a REASON. HE IS DONE!

I’m trying to figure out what negative press he’s referring to. And why does AC need to clean up their image. I’ve never heard any school comment on AC’s image. And when is winning not the most important thing for any program? He’s reaching on this post. Don’t try to hire a “solid” coach that gets 70 hung on him in the division 4 playoffs.

Lee, it's not even worth talking about. These people make fake accounts because they are SCARED to be known and they just start blasting off. There is nothing wrong with the image of AC. I don't even know how that is even brought up. Its prob a dad or mom of a kid that didn't get the playing time they wanted. Nothing else makes sense. Everybody knows who I am, I'm talked about regularly by the "secret" accounts. I wish they would step forward.

Anyone can make allegations of misconduct.
And they often do.
Doesn’t make any of it true.

Anyone can make allegations of misconduct. And they often do. Doesn’t make any of it true. Also, I think members of this board need to realize the extremely small "bubble" that thoughts and ideas expressed here exist in. The vast majority of HS football fans have no idea who the coach is at AC, what happened, what was said to have happened etc. That said, they need to find the best fit for their school/values as obviously the previous HC did not fit that mold. Lastly, regarding the allegations, I asked in a previous thread but nobody could answer..was the young lady in question a past student of the school?

Drey Trosclair most definitely rubbed some coaches the wrong way and has a negative image among a lot of coaches in the Baton Rouge area.
My nephew played for Episcopal and I know our coach, who is an Ascension Catholic graduate, said he would refuse to schedule AC again as long as Trosclair was their coach. Supposedly he wasn’t happy that Ascension Catholic called a timeout and was trying to score up 20-0 with under a minute left.
Trosclair has a reputation for running up the score and walking his team through the other team pregame. Ascension Catholic was known to keep starters in well after the game was out of reach. Some people like coaches who tack on an extra touchdown or two but it earns a negative reputation.
There was little reason for the Ascension Catholic backups to not get more playing time this year with the amount of blowouts.
It is also known that there are many supporters in Donaldsonville who are very pleased to move on and get a new staff at the school.

Fyi, you don't have a nephew that goes to Episcopal. You're an AC person that doesnt like Drey, obviously. That's cool though. Its America, freedom of everything. Walking the field pregame is called blessing the field. We have done it 50 plus times. The back ups played a ton this year. You should know, you were at every game. Drey does not have a bad reputation. If so, give details on it not just a bland statement. Last but not least, you're crying about a jamboree? A jamboree is when you work on situations. Nothing was done wrong there. It's high school football dude not hop scotch.

Would hate to see him go I believe he is the last of the “4 Bees” from White Castle still coaching. (Rick Bollotte, John Buckley, John Busch, Ronald Bagala)

Sounds like some Ascension Catholic fans are mad because they wanted to control the coach.
Entitlement issues

Well the SU Lab “brass” has asked me a few times to stop posting on here and social media. But I’m passionate about my school so they can either take it or leave it. The same goes for you and Ascension Catholic. It was plum stupid to fire Drey. Seems like they want a puppet not a good coach.
