feel free to disagree with me. I'm just going off of what I've seen and heard, and admittedly a little bit off of gut.
5A: ever since the split, seeding has never seemed to matter in picking contenders. Personally, the main ones I'd go with are Walker and Landry-Walker
D-1: Scottlandville is the favorite, though it's not going to be as easy as last year. Catholic of BR may be able to get them if ville has an off game in the semis.
4A: Bossier is probably the fairly clear favorites, though Carencro may still be a dark horse along with Westgate. I'd also look out for Northside and Karr to make deep runs; being securely in the playoffs with records like theirs is sometimes a sign of at least a quarterfinal team (interestingly enough, as seeded presently, Karr and Westgate would be a round 2 matchup)
D-II: this one seems pretty wide open at the top. U-High and STM are the programs I'd give contending status to, but I'd also have to see the other teams to see if anyone else is a legit contender.
3A: it is well documented who the 4 main contenders are: Sophie B Wright, Peabody, Madison Prep, and Wossman. I haven't seen any of them so I can't make a good guess who's going to win, though from what I've heard through the gvine, Sophie and Prep are probably the 2 main ones within that group.
D-III: Dunham is the pretty clear favorites, with Country Day also as a contender and Riverside as a dark horse if they get everything together going in
2A: Rayville is the favorite here, make no mistake about it. The main contender is probably either Red River or Avoyelles, and I could see Ville Platte and Lake Arthur as dark horse teams emerging.
D-IV: The favorite (and I may be a little biased in saying this but I don't think I am) is LCA, with St Mary's and Hamilton Christian also having decent chances.
1-A: Thee favorite always seems to be White Castle, and this year is no different. The other contenders, I'd say, are North Central and J-Hodge (if they catch fire and play to their ceiling), with Lincoln Prep and Centerville being dark horse teams.
B: it seems like it's Zwolle, SImsboro, Hicks, then everyone else; I don't see any real dark horse teams here since Quitman seems to have cooled off a bit. I have only seen Simsboro play, but they impressed me when I saw them; I'll give them a slight edge as favorites over Zwolle
D-V: Jehovah-Jireh is the clear cut favorites with Crescent City Christian being pretty much the one other contender
C: seems to be Summerfield, Simpson, and everyone else, though perhaps Atlanta could play spoiler if they catch fire. For the favorites, though, I'll give the edge to Summerfield.

I think this might be Jonesboro’s year. I also could see Lincoln Prep knocking off White Castle if they’re on same side of the bracket. 1-1A is dangerous throughout.

We've been a different team since getting healthy in the middle of district (a weak onne will do that). I think we'll be more than up to either task if and when it comes.

Watch out for Port Allen in 2A. They have been playing much better. Go about 9 deep. No real great player but quite a few good players. I look for them to win at least 2 games. They will probably be the #7 seed and have to play Red River in round of 8.
Many must play pretty good defense. Port Allen could play them in second round. Alot of Many's games are low scoring.

I've seen White Castle play a few times this year. This year's team isn't as strong as some of their past teams. It looks like Booker T. Washington will be in their bracket at #8. That could be a dogfight if they play in the third round. In the last three weeks of the season BTW knocked off Metarie Park Country Day and Port Allen.
By the way, it looks like Lincoln Prep (#5) will be in the same bracket as Delhi (#4). They should meet in the third round. Can Lincoln Prep beat Delhi?

Don't forget about defending state runner-up Woodlawn (Shreveport). They brought back most of their players and and have only lost to Bossier twice and once to Red River, Dunham and Sophie Wright.

I think Lincoln Prep can beat Delhi. Delhi isn’t as good as last year, and Lincoln Prep has the x-factor in Chanse Robinson who can take over a game. They might have to go through Arcadia and Delhi to make the final four so they’d definitely be battle tested.

I'm going to go a different route with the boys side than I did with the girls. I'm going to throw out boys teams that may not be at the top, but could make a good run at it:
5A: Ponchatoula, Walker, and Landry-Walker (Walker has a tremendous boys team this year, and Ponchatoula has a big boy that is really nice.)
4A: Woodlawn Shreve and Carencro can make some noise this year. I really like the style of ball Carencro plays. They have some nice pieces.
3A: It's tough to select any dark horses here because Peabody or Madison Prep will own this class. (Hope somebody this year proves this point wrong)
2A: Some people have mentioned Port Allen, and I have to agree. They have some good younger guys just cutting their teeth, but can make a run if the match ups are right.
1A: I don't know enough of these teams to try and pick a dark horse.
B: This classification is Zwolle's or Simsboro's to lose. My bet would be Zwolle. I love the physical, in your face attitude they play with year in and year out.
C: Can't go fancy with this pick: Summerfield is winning it.
Div 1: I'm looking for Catholic BR or St. Paul's to cause a stir. Haven't seen St. Paul's play this year, but their teams are usually solid.
Div 2: Can't pick surprise teams because University High is in this Division.
Div 3: This is Dunham's or Country Day's title to lose, but don't sleep on Episcopal at 3 in this division.
Div 4: Hamilton Christian has had a nice team the last few years, but let's be real: Lafayette Christian is taking this one.
Div 5: Jehovah Jireh is looking to repeat. Crescent City is the main challenger, but Runnels has quietly had a great year. They have an insanely good point guard, and have played Crescent City to within 13 points in the regular season. It would be hard for them to upset Crescent in the Final Four, but I wouldn't be surprised by it either.

We split our series with them, each winning at the other's place. Their big man, Finley I believe you're referring to, is their starting QB and is committed to LSU. He doesn't impress me in the paint. He doesn't play real aggressive and seems to not like the contact that goes on under the basket. For a kid his size, he will stay on the perimeter and put up the 3's. I think #5 is a little high for them. IMO.

Rayne made the playoffs with their second year coach. At 14-16 and seeded 19 I would love to see them upset their way to the quarters and a match with Westgate. We face a team we lost to earlier in the year Assumption. We may not be a threat to the 4A ranks but our young team and coach got us here. We beat Northside twice and Westgate once. 3 close losses to Carencro twice and a heartbreaker at STM last Friday. Not saying we are a powerhouse but in a tough district hoping it will take us far.

3a bracket, while too heavy should make the Semis and Finals great. Sophie B Wright is the best team I’ve seen all year with the 3 Russell Burns and Hammond. Madison Prep is easily the biggest team I’ve seen. Peabody is Peabody so they’ll be in the mix as will Wossman.
Division II is now up in the air, UHigh best player, Clemson signee for football Bryton Constantin fears a torn ACL so he’s out.
Keep an eye on Riverside in Div III, took some lumps this year but played a brutal schedule and on a hot streak.
5a should be interesting. Landry Walker and Walker have the players to make a run. Ouachita beat Rayville this year and been strong all year.
Div I should be Scotlandville vs St Aug and that would be Fantastic

Easy to take them because that’s who I know but based off tape I’ve watched, jhodge and Lincoln Prep would have the best player on the floor should they play either. One thing about White Castle, you better attack the backboards, they will rebound! Also North Central won’t be a pushover

5A I think Landry Walker will beat Walker this year in quarterfinals. Walker is a 2 man team. I have not seen Ouachita Parish or Thibodaux this year. I will take Landry Walker to win.
4A Bossier, I thought I told ya. Leesville a number 2 seed? Their schedule does not look that tough. I like Woodlawn Shreveport also.
3A Sophie B Wright, Madison Prep, Peabody, Wossman. That should be final four. What an awesome final four. Well worth the price of admission. Give me the Chargers. Picked Peabody last year, not again. Madison Prep.
2A Rayville will win. I will root for a run for Port Allen. I'll pick them to go to the final four. (Also their coach, Derrick Jones, he could be in contention for East Ascension job. No inside information, but I know EA has interim coach)
1A White Castle Lincoln Prep or North Central. Give me the Bulldogs for the 3 peat.
B and C. Never watch until the final four. I always like Zwolle, Simsboro, Atlanta, and Summerfield.
Division I Scotlandville Hornets. Coach Sample is on a mission this year. Although Catholic has impressed me this year. (I think Sample will never lose to Coach Cascio from Catholic.) Have not seen St. Augustine
Division II This is not a great U High team. Maybe De La Salle or St Thomas More. They have very good coaches.
Division III Dunham. really good starting five. Does anyone know what grade the twins that play JV and come off the bench are in? If 9th, the will be really good.
Division IV Lafayette Christian. I hope they move up soon
Division V Jehovah Jireh. They could win Division V, IV, III, and II in my opinion. B, C 1A also. Hell they might could win state in any divisions/classes not containing Scotlandville

If they string 5 of those efforts together, they're very dangerous; it is a big if, though. They're probably more of a potential spoiler. The listing of Catholic in D-I was because I seriously think whoever wins S'Ville v CHBR wins D-I or in other words, those are really the two best teams in D-I (though I give S'Ville a 90+% chance to win that) just based on results and word of mouth. Lafayette Christian goes up to D-III next year and plans to move up to D-II further down the line (I have no clue when, my guess is either 4 or 6 years). The more I think about it, I would probably go with St Thomas More for D-II considering how they did against a tough district (though the loss to Teurlings is a big scar on the resume...given the score, I have to assume TCHS executed the "snail ball and free throws" strategy to perfection)

I haven’t been back to Lafayette much since I moved back to Baton Rouge I don't know; I'm not as in the loop there as I used to be. All I know is, with Zach's class graduating there will be 3 senior homeroom classes every year from here on out; Zach's class and every class before that when I was at LCA had 2 homeroom classes. The 4 or 6 years figure is pure speculation, but I know they plan to eventually move up to D-II

Div I should be Scotlandville vs St Aug and that would be Fantastic when did bryton tear his acl?

No inside information, but I know EA has interim coach) 1A White Castle Lincoln Prep or North Central. Augustine Division II This is not a great U High team. Maybe De La Salle or St Thomas More. They have very good coaches. Division III Dunham. really good starting five. Does anyone know what grade the twins that play JV and come off the bench are in? If 9th, the will be really good. Division IV Lafayette Christian. I hope they move up soon Division V Jehovah Jireh. They could win Division V, IV, III, and II in my opinion. B, C 1A also. Hell they might could win state in any divisions/classes not containing Scotlandville I agree with a lot of this. The reason I put Centerville as a contender is that maybe I'm a little biased; while they did lose both games to LCA, they gave them a good challenge both times and played them to a 2 point game in one of them. The more I think about it, I would probably go with St Thomas More for D-II considering how they did against a tough district (though the loss to Teurlings is a big scar on the resume...given the score, I have to assume TCHS executed the "snail ball and free throws" strategy to perfection) i was wondering the same thing on centerville because they beat central catholic plus they were hanging with LCA... if central catholic can get themselves together they will be good as well.. they did beat white castle and some good teams this year..

I went to Port Allen vs Vidalia tonight. Port Allen won 54-45. Ugly game. Vidalia's best player was announced at 5 foot 3. Might have been shorter. Port Allen vs Many next round. The Pelicans will need to play better in order to advance. Only about 300 people at game. I wonder if any 2A teams fill the gym up when they play.

David Thibodaux is solid. I saw them last night vs SCC. They have three very quick guards and three good forwards.
