Horrible horrible day as a sports fan.
This guy grew on me as a player and individual every year both as a player and after retiring.
He came into the league as a premadonna and left a legend who matured into a true All-time great.
He seemed to learn from his transgressions as an individual and became a big family man who built his life around his girls.
I will miss his interviews, his outspoken words in which he cared little for what others thought, and his insights into the game. His talents will be sorely missed in many venues from basketball, entertainment, family.
RIP Kobe, one of the best to ever lace an up I ever seen.

Even worse news, his 13 year old daughter Gianna was also killed in the crash with Kobe along with three others. Kobe and Gianna were on the way to her travel basketball game.

More awful news from this...a guy who some of the baseball people on this website may know of, John Altobelli of Orange Coast College, was one of the 3 others, along with his wife and daughter. Also, it's now reported that 4 additional people, including the pilot, also died on that flight.
