Coach Tank Lotief is out at Kaplan So stupid. I’m sure he won’t have a hard time finding another job. Kaplan deserves what’s likely coming after making the decision to part ways with him. Something stinks for sure. This is NOT what is best for our kids This was not a “Kaplan” decision I assure you. The people making these decisions are not “Kaplan” people.

Apparently some of the parents thought he was too hard on the kids. Yet another example of the sorry, soft society we’ve become. Keep doing what you’re doing coach, and hopefully your next stop will appreciate you for making their babies into men.

Just the Kaplan HS admin folks who made this decision I understand. My opinion is first hand. My boys played for him from 2014-2019. We adore Tank. Most parents and kids I know do as well.

I'm not going into the details I was told, but there's things you cannot do to kids as a coach. It's not about kids these days being soft, it's about being the adult in the room and setting a proper example.

I don’t know any details and it sounds like you do, but that doesn’t change the fact that coaching these days is incredibly difficult due to having to deal with parents. There are a lot of folks on social media platforms that played for Tank (or who’s kids did) who are absolutely taking his side, and are thankful for the tough love they received while playing for him. But again, not knowing any details, I agree that there are lines that cant be crossed. I hope that’s not the case.

Or was it just someone finally making a complaint? And who is likely to replace him? Kaplan seemed well suited for his brand of football. I don't see many people able to replicate or exceed the standard he has set there.

11 seasons, record of 92-42, never missed the playoffs, never had a losing season, three semifinal trips and they were a touchdown away from the Dome in two of those trips. Whatever it is, there is something going on in the background because it's hard to find a good reason to get rid of who is likely the most successful coach in Kaplan history. Just my observation as an outsider looking in.

Too soon to know who will replace him.

Too soon to know who will replace him. I have never heard of Tank being "talked" to for a first time, much less a second time. If that has happened, then it is a slight wonder that your source has heard this but folks close to KHS and the kids have never heard about this before. Like all small towns, news travels fast. Everyone is free to form their own opinion, but in defense of this Man and his integrity, I will leave a quote from someone (that has no direct ties to KHS) on social media about this situation, you can do with it what you please, but it sheds light on the situation. "It's a sad day when an assistant coach with a history of undermining programs (not to mention an embezzlement episode in Acadia parish) would stick a knife in his boss' back. C'mon Kaplan."

This is an interesting article... and from what I have read an herd.... This is an inside job... Seems people purposely doing things to undermine the coach... Makes you wonder if some of the NEW hires are trying to take over what he built...

If you aren't brown nosing the Admin, you're in the outs She won’t be there much longer, very soon to move up to the Central Office. If you can get control and start doing with the kids around 5/6th grade doing speed/agility and then weights by junior high, and get about 8-10 kids in grade group you can do great. Got to get kids from basketball.
