the more i think about the vote on June 8th supposedly to restore 5A and 4A back together, put 3A, 2A, and 1A under rural and metro, and combine B and C, i get mad that the PTB on the executive committee went too far and sabotaged the compromise's chances to pass.
B and C will NOT vote to combine. why would they? is it really an issue to anyone that C can't put together a full bracket? so now you have one group of schools pissed off bc you're changing things for them, and for what?
rural and metro doesn't make sense either. these smaller football schools want to split select and non select, and i don't think the bigger schools really care that much about it.
this brings us to 4A and 5A
bottom line is, i wouldn't mind the small schools being the deus ex machina (hand behind the curtain) forcing 4A and 5A back together by voting their interests. But the exec committee wants no part of that. If 1A, 2A, and 3A like the split, let them keep their split. i don't go to their games. i don't care whom their champion is.
heck i'd take it a step further... extend the split to 4A, B, and C, and you have enough public schools for sure to vote yes to a plan that would force 5A back together whether we want it or not.
and that's what about half of 5A wants anyway (the Catholic League, JC, Evangel, and enough public schools in South LA)
how it should be for a total of 8 classes and 7 football title games
5A plus 4A selects 4A nonselect 3A, 2A, 1A, and B nonselect divide into three classes 3A, 2A, 1A, B, and C select divide into two classes C nonselect
now don't get me wrong, 5A and 4A schools that show up on June 8th should absolutely vote for what's being proposed, but that plan will not get the lower classes support needed to pass. And i wonder if it was designed that way.
but future attempts to change the split in any way will be incremental like this, one class at a time, and try to get schools not involved to force it to happen. even if that class doesn't really want it. we're trying to change too much at one time. the strategy should be to see if a guy like Norman Booker is as gung-ho about other classes splitting as he is about his beloved 2A Many Tigers

5A and 4A will be close to even IMO, but I think they will vote against the "hybrid plan" by a small margin. I would guess everyone else will vote against by a large margin. Remember, when they allowed each football class to vote on the split individually ALL classes voted for it.
Now remember, there can, and will be amendments added. If it's amended so that rural/metro is out, and select/non-select is in for all but 4 and 5A I'd be interested to see how that vote came out. I think the smaller schools might vote FOR it, just as a way to keep what they want.

"the strategy should be to see if a guy like Norman Booker is as gung-ho about other classes splitting as he is about his beloved 2A Many Tigers"
I know that everyone in 2A thinks all the public schools are the same. If you do, go look at the MHS (Many High School) rosters not just for football, but the other sports. I think you will find more than 1 "out of zone/Parish" player. Especially on the team that Mr. Booker coaches. I got this info from a reliable source with kids going to the school.

Just curious...do the rosters at Many have the hometowns of players listed like they do in college?? Secondly, where are you finding these rosters for us to "go look at" ?

No the rosters don't have hometowns. Got them from a parent, calendar with rosters. If you look at the last names, it's local knowledge where there parents live. Just have to find a parent or parents that don't agree with the split or has a problem with the administration and they are full of knowledge. It helps if your from the area (Parish) and still have family or property on the lake and go to the grocery stores and just visit or listen.

Ok...just so we know the credible source is a parent that you overheard talking to someone else at the local grocery store, based on their last name. We need to get the LHSAA to investigate this.

No the parent was at my place on Toledo Bend this weekend. We fried fish Sat night and started talking sports. I was just showing that sometimes when you vote, make sure that you have all the information. I can give names to an LHSAA official, but would rather not since I see a lot of these people on the weekends that I am at TB fishing.

And we all know that parents, are the most reliable source of information. Ask parents on the Calvary Softball team, how many reside in Texas. See the response you get.

No 5a school will vote for 4a selects in our classification. Sorry I think it makes sense... unless you want 4A selects against possibly 3A and 2A schools. They have to play somebody

I don't live in Sabine Parish but I'm pretty familiar with lay of the land there. Just because you last name is Ebarb, Sepulvado, or Rivers, I'm pretty sure its ok if you live in other places than Zwolle. I'm pretty sure if your last your name is Sweet, Garner, Leach or Maxie you can live in other places than Many too!! Just because and address says Robeline it does not mean they actually live in Natchitoches Parish, the postal code for Robeline stretches well into Sabine Parish.
