First off, I have no words of wisdom that I haven't already posted in the past. My personal take on all of this is that the split proponents must be Bernie Sanders supporters....."let's make everyone equal." However, I digress.
I came across this post today when gleaning the internet for information on the LHSAA Split. It was made by CHS-NI Head Football Coach Brent Indest and sums it pretty well for me. Rather than work hard at improving, the supporters simply take their ball and go home. This guy showed how you do it when you understand the meaning of hard work and how to be successful. I suspect he would be good at whatever he set his mind to doing. For the record, he's been pretty damn successful as a coach. And, most of his success came while coaching Public Schools. Here are his words.....
"In 2004 I became the Head Football Coach at Crowley High School. In the previous 5 years the team's record was 8-42. In 2003 Notre Dame was added to Crowley's district. The school that I initially joined was bitter and petty about Notre Dame and its athletic dominance in most sports. With the leadership of our principal Steve Duplechin and the hard work of a lot of students and coaches we not only changed the culture and spirit of our school but beat the Pios in week 10 in both 2005 and 2006. Instead of whining about how good ND was I challenged our players to use ND as the bar in which we were trying to reach. During that period we had success against their powerful baseball teams as well. What has happened now is that the majority of public schools are scared to compete against the best. They say it isn't a "fair" playing field. Please answer this. Being that UL and LSU compete for the same national title in football does UL have as "fair" of a chance as LSU. Does Gueydan High have the same chance at the "A" state title as Kentwood ?? It's a fact of life. Some people in most scenarios have built in advantages over others. So I guess that Mr. Small business owner should be able to kick out Mr. Big because he's got an advantage. . It's AMERICA people. Kudos to the LHSAA for falling into the depths of America where the strong get kicked out so that the weak can feel better about themselves."
This is where we are. But what happens when certain schools start to dominate the non-select side? Will the other schools want a new vote to kick them out? God help our children and grandchildren. The very thing that made America great was competition amongst all comers. It was born out of a desire for folks to pull themselves up, not bring others down. It's a crying shame that no one wants to put forth the effort to improve. It's just too hard. It's much easier to bring down everyone else. Damn the giving T-ball trophies that every kid when it started years ago. I knew at some point it would extend to other sports at higher levels of competition.

Oh, I work plenty hard at the things that are important to me. I mean, after all that's the position I support in all of this. The question is, do you work harder?

Reaux...I think he was showing what the coach had said. It takes work & support not only from the kids but the administration, parents, and community. Yes, he asked them to work harder, but he used the ND team as a bar to measure themselves against and to strive to get there.

Great post and thoughts bayouboss. I read that this morning and was reminded of the great battles we've had over the years with Brent at Abbeville, Crowley, and CHNI. He has a load of God given talent and was also blessed with long arms. He is able to get a good point across and pat himself on the back at the same time! Sort of reminds me of a fictional coach named bigBoob, except his arms aren't as long, so he pats his butt and says nothing at the same time! Just maybe bob, if you work harder you can be a real coach like Brent someday!

It would be a good place to start There you go, "work harder". Again, that would be a good start. And apposed to what, lower standards? Cull those who work harder? I have to believe you come from a losing school? Send me your name and address and I'll send you a trophy.

It would be a good place to start There you go, "work harder". Not just work harder, that is nonsense. Work hard on your attitude, accept and know your limitations, work to improve your weakness. Strive to be better, morally, socially, economically and most importantly spiritually daily. You failures are your own, take ownership, in high school, in college, at work and within your own family circle, for it is not the successful guy down the street that is your stumbling block. When you work harder on all these you gain true self esteem and not some vapid incoherent nonsense of entitlement that disappears from your life at the first sign of distress. Yes, work harder and smarter.

There you go, "work harder". You knew it was coming...lol Because privates work hard, and publics don't... Many publics do, that obvious. And Many privates don't, that obvious too. But if your nameless team is bad, getting hard working coaches is a good start, private or public. If the rules are flawed, fix them, if teams cheat, kick them out. But removing schools to level competition is weak. And we just further weakened a troubled organization. So if you or your school fall under the "work harder" category, then just do it already.

The rules have been circumvented by a group of self serving principals due to their Inadequacy and jealousy.

Played ball with both the principal "Booker" and the head coach "Curtis". Really thought more of them before all this played out, think they could have come up with a better plan.
