This is a very real issue. Southside High in Youngsville will have it's first class next year and is expected to come in around 1,400 students. Almost entirely from Comeaux High which has an enrollment last time round of 1936. That leaves 536 at Comeaux. To fill the gap, there will be about 800 students from Lafayette High that get zoned Comeaux. That puts the Comeaux enrollment around 1,336 and Reduces Lafayette High to 1,655. Northside is schedule to gain about 200 students from Lafayette High reducing LHS further to around 1,455. Acadiana will lose about 150 students to Lafayette High which should have a final enrollment of 1,600 ish. Acadiana will drop in enrollment as it also will lose students to Carencro. Expect Acadiana to have an actual enrollment of 1,500. Carencro will gain 200 putting them up around 1,290. Northside should have a about 970 total students next year. Unless they come in as a failed school again. Then the enrollment will drop below 500 with parents looking to keep their kids out of it.
Having said all that the numbers used for reclassification will be skewed. There is no threat that Lafayette High, Acadiana, Comeaux and Southwood would drop to 4A. But there is an impact that Carencro will have actual 5A numbers yet still be in 4A and Northside could end up with 3A numbers playing in 4A. Carencro was the largest 4A school last reclass.

So 1400 students from Comeaux are transferring to Southside? I have been told about 1000 transfers plus a new freshman class of about 400. It is why the numbers for Comeaux, Lafayette High, Acadiana, Northside and Carencro are all bogus. They already know that EVERYONE has been rezoned for next year.
