They have a record of 27-1. Their schedule does not look that great, however 27-1 is an outstanding record.
I saw them in 2018 beat Port Allen in a playoff game in Coach Derrick Jones first season. That is the last time I have seen them play.
Does anyone on here watch this team?

I've watched some film on them. They are "good." Not up to, say, Top 5, just yet. As you said, their schedule makes it hard to believe in them. They aren't big by any means. But anybody with their record should certainly not be overlooked. I hope they do well in the playoffs. Good to see different teams getting some notice. And everything I said about them is just the opinion of an old man, lol.

I feel like they are the big favorite in division 5. I don’t see very many big names in that division.

I feel like they are the big favorite in division 5. I don’t see very many big names in that division. I wouldn't overlook Family Christian even at 19-13. Beating Sophie B Wright and U High and playing teams like Dunham, St Paul's and especially Beau Chene close is nothing to sneeze at. I'd treat FC in D-V like I would OP in 5A, someone who you don't want to face come late season/playoff time.

Congratulations to Head Coach Okie Bengamin and the Vikings for brining home a State Championship to Avoyelles Parish! What an awesome season, 35-1.

Me and my wife went to that game. Congratulations to the Mustangs. Very good game. I think if they played 10 times, each team would win 5, lol. We stayed for the next game also. What a difference in size in Newman-Calvary compared to Avoyelles Charter-Family Christin. Calvary played a good game, but Newman was just too big for them. I think his name is "Lemin", he must have had 7-8 blocked shots. On another note, the teams of today seem to make more mistakes and turnovers than years back. They also seem to have lower scores. North Central scored the most points last night, 59.

It messes with their depth perception because there is so much open space behind the goals as opposed to the gyms they typically play in. Poor shooting typically leads to lower-scoring games. Also, everybody is so athletic these days that it makes it more difficult to score at the rim. Easy baskets early in the season become very tough contested baskets when you're playing against the best of the best. The main reason why we see so many mistakes and turnovers these days is the game is played at a much faster pace. Everybody wants to run as fast as possible. It's a full-court game much more than a half-court game. When you play at 100% tempo all of the time, it leads to more mistakes and sloppy play.

It's a full-court game much more than a half-court game. When you play at 100% tempo all of the time, it leads to more mistakes and sloppy play. you're absolutely correct, though even NISH, coached by Chad Porcieau who everyone knows likes a half court type of game, scored 48 in their championship game. In what I would consider possibly the deepest division, select D-II, the most point scored in any of the Top 28 games was 46; Shaw, who's probably the most "half court" style of team that made it, scored 28 in their semifinal game. Even the teams theoretically more suited to a half-court game had trouble scoring. This goes back to the depth perception issues we both mentioned, but still. Also, it seems that more and more teams that make it have size to make shots at the rim tougher, there's always been teams with size, but it felt like there were more than usual this season. Anyway, back on topic, congrats to the Vikings on a well deserved title (pretty sure APC is the Vikings and not the Mustangs like their traditional public school counterpart).
