Despite what a certain poster thinks, I wish the best for Curtis at NC. Not sure if they have their schedule yet, or if they have commitments with other teams. My question is this: if their non-district schedule consists of 5 games, what do you all think would be a decent schedule for them, being as they have a new coach? Just picking teams, I'd say good tests for them might be Mansfield, Carrol, Eunice, Barbe, and Opelousas. Just something to write about. Now that WM has a new coach, NC has Curtis, Brewerton is staying Zachary, this board is probably gonna get slower than a can of QuakerState oil left out in 30 degree weather.

Yes, I know I am from Acadia Parish. But I like LOUISIANA HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL.

Their only guaranteed wins are Southwood and Woodlawn-Sh.
After that every game is a toss up at best. Opelousas is much improved and Woodlawn-Sh is the only non-district game that’s a gimme.
Southwood is the only district game that’s a gimme.
If they win 5 games next year I will start to buy the hype. Til then I predict 3-7.

DeRidder I think would be a solid test.

Jess is a winner. He's proven. Record speaks for itself. West Monroe's loss, NC is in a great spot with him leading the charge.

Just call me Jess Curtis’ hit man LOL...hope you have a good day Clean...we're mostly just having fun with each other on this board. Well, most of the time. It's easier to hit a nerve of some posters on here than some others. So, I, for one, try to watch what I say. (Sometimes) Seriously, I pulled for Many in the dome this last year. Me and my wife go camping from time to time at Toledo Bend and we go to Many. Forgot the name of the little place we'd eat at, but the people were very friendly.

Til then I predict 3-7. 5-5 should be easy I'm giving them Woodlawn-SH and Southwood and an upset somewhere along the way, maybe 2. I honestly think 4-6 is their ceiling this Fall considering what the Shreveport area teams in their district have coming back. 5-5 and competitive every game would probably be considered a great starting point for the future and may happen if they get off to a good start. If you believe 5-5 is "easy", please point out who you think the other 3 wins are aside from Woodlawn-SH and Southwood. Please point out who else in the remaining 5 is also beatable next year in your opinion. I'm more familiar with the Shreveport area teams than I am with NC and I know that in the past NC has not done well against most of the teams in that district. I also can't see NC beating ASH early in the year before they have had time to really get everything fine tuned. Opelousas had a really good year last year and has a lot coming back from what I've heard from a few people. Clean is more familiar with them than most people. He may have some insight on that. If they can get by Opelousas then they could be 3-1 hitting district. Then they have Airline and Benton back to back. That's two losses. Both of those will be good again next year, especially Airline. Captain Shreve still has ability if they can address the issues that caused them to crumble last year and stay away from injuries. Parkway, Haughton and Byrd will all be better than last year I think . Like I said earlier, if Curtis can go 5-5 and be competitive every week I will start believing the hype. I still think it will take them at least two years to get all the kinks ironed out.

Using the logic that several people were using in WM thread about how Curtis was way bettercoach than Garvin and it's not even comparable . I would say at minimum NC to 2nd round of playoffs and should be in Qtr.Finals this year. Ouachita was a non playoff team year before Garvins arrival and 5-6 with a 1st round exit year before that.
NC was non playoff team last year with and 7-4 with a 1st round exit year before that.
Using the logic of many, I would say 2nd round or Qtrs this year is justified.

The scores in the graphic you posted… they were a 2-8 team that easily could have been 5-5… I’d look for NC to take a big step up if Curtis stays there and doesn’t go to Southside

I would agree that Southside would be the better choice as far as resources and booster money if you want to win it all. Pay wise I don't really know how it compares to Lafayette, but I know that Natchitoches Parish has recently upped their base pay and how they pay their coaches. They now use the same formula that Rapides uses if my information is correct. Coaches at NC make pretty good money and especially head coaches if that's the case.
One gets the impression that Curtis made a knee-jerk move taking the NC job last year and it seems as though he's been trying to leave almost since he got there. Southside would be getting a good coach for sure but you would have to wonder if any of his assistants would move again all the way to Lafayette to work with him and also if any of the current Southside assistants would want to stay on if he's hired. It's a hire to keep an eye on.

That’s about 20 miles away and probably an hour drive in Lafayette traffic. But your point is valid.
