This bullpoop program cost themselves a title with a daddy ball situation and it finally got them.
Walk. You and your family deserve better. Get out. Leave. Go back to Texas.
Karma exists for a reason. And it finally caught up to zachary in that second half. Good riddance.
Has played in every game this season. Didn't get one snap tonight.
Brewerton, you should be ashamed of allowing booster and daddy situation cost an entire group of kids and it got you tonight. It bit you in the butt when it mattered most.
Peace. Good luck next year with no QB.

I thought the dominant Zachary o line would kill them they got mauled last year and again tonight. I don’t care if they play at home in the dome or in the damn parking lot lose. I said Spangler would throw picks under pressure and he did.

Oh wow, tell us more about your feelings. Standing up for a talented kid who has been shafted since arriving on campus. Shame more people don't stand up for others. I will for him.

I said Spangler would throw picks under pressure and he did. Cost them. There were passes to be made all night that Gonzales can make and has made. Dutchtown second quarter is perfect example. Many games. It cost them. And you love to see it. Enjoy the thread. I said my peace. Hopefully the young man and his family do what they should have done last spring. Get out.

Ride or die loyalty up there Freak em. I didn't know when exactly it would cost them, but tonight was hard to watch seeing how certain throws were there to be made on outs and the OC can only call three different passes to complete. I haven't seen daddy ball play such a major issue at this level in 5A since WM in 2007. And the two programs are so similar in every way. Get too big and too many mouths to feed. If Gonzales is wise and leaves they won't have a QB next year and the freshman will have to play. They deserve it. It is wild they never put him on the field ONCE tonight to mix up the passing game.

Gotta say it does kind of suck the only chances he gets are when the other kid can’t complete a throw or when the team is down and out. And the kid had responded all year.

East Now!!! I thought the Zachary qb played a decent game and threw some really good balls. He missed a few, but it’s High school.
Also, that Ruston Defense is pretty good.
Always next year!

What happened today? Who pushed who around this afternoon?
If that Zachary team shows up Ruston won't win.
Zachary 35-14. Don't think it will be close. Regardless they will win. Ruston ain't playing at home and Zachary indoors will feast. I expect Green to put on a show and Zachary OL to dominate.
Clearly the OL didn’t dominate that DL for Ruston was too much to handle.

The playcalling has been limited in the passing game all season due to the inability to make certain throws. Gonzales comes in and gets them going. Did it against EA and also against Dutchtown. Did it against Destrehan as well. Different skills and in a game where Ruston is allowing certain throws to be made they never once went to him. Not once. Karma is a . It is real. Almost cost them last week and it got them this week. It was coming. I'll be a voice for the kid. You are extremely talented and most people in baton rouge and across the south know it and know you got shafted all year. Go somewhere where you can shine. I've seen this before with players and helped a few get out of situations like these. One changed his entire life trajectory entirely. I'll never mention who the former players are. I just hope this kid and his family get it.

Hey, congrats. Still think zachary with two unsportsmanlike penalties killed them. Had the ball at the Ruston 29 yard line in the third tied up and ran it for 9 yards. The receiver for Zachary becomes a selfish kid and costs them 15 yards. Killed drive. Very next Ruston drive on 3rd down they get a stop and the corner just shoves the reciever after the play for no reason whatsoever. Next play? Touchdown. Ball game. Discipline and they had zero.

Ruston took advantage or every mistake and coaching decision of Zachary. Big time props to the entire Ruston coaching staff and especially Brantley and that OL. Ruston was the absolute better team. Make no mistake. They can get another next year as well. Program is back and humming.

Is Gonzalez number 12? If so, is the 5’6”? Tough to see behind the line. Maybe all the short throws he could make. You speak of him like be is a D1 guy.

From lake Travis and has the pedigree and proven his talents. No he isn't a DI guy but he has a gun and has instincts. You aren't from south louisiana and likely don't know poop about him or a damn thing about his ability. And I like that. And Brantley isn't a DI guy either. Not as a QB. Maybe a receiver.

I’ve watched Zachary a couple times and have told people that QB play is keeping them from being unbeatable in this state. I haven’t seen the Gonzalez kid at all, but the one that played missed some throws that changed the outcome of the game tonight (in my opinion). Throws that a whole bunch of QBs probably make. Would the Gonzalez kid have made them? I have no idea. Again, I haven’t seen him.

I know 5+ coaches from west of Baton Rouge to New Orleans that tried to pull him away for 2 years. They all warned that family what would happen. Too late now I guess. My opinion, that’s not the system for him. He needs to be in a wide open offense. Was it about money boosters, nah. Cuz I heard they have plenty money. Either way, Ruston played well, Zachary threw screens and jump balls. Congrats to the better team, and better coached team.
Great year

This in a nutshell. Brantley and that offense for Ruston played exceptional in that second half. Dominant. Maybe he can go to WM haha WM will never get any Ruston players again. WM is irrelevant now and the local media needs to get with the times and stop embarrassing themselves calling them "powerhouse" program ad nauseum when mentioning them. They are a former powerhouse that is average at best. They will have to start from scratch again and maybe kids from other schools will come back one day. Ruston is the new powerhouse and could feasible be going for a three peat if not for destrehan last season. Ruston has a lot coming back as well. They aren't going anywhere. Love to see it.

Good luck next year with no QB. Hit it right on the head man. And for as good of a coach as Brew is this isn’t out of the real for him. A few years ago there was a similiar situation Alex Millazo started the season as Qb over Keilon Brown. Luckily Brown was so much better that the situation didn’t prolong itself like this one. Not sure if Gonzales will leave but if he does Zachary will be in trouble.

Now they need to over haul that offense. I mean, it was unproductive even with a bama commit. It’s 5 plays out of different looks.

I actually thought he played much better last night than he did in the quarterfinal win over Destrehan. At what point in the game would you have pulled Spangler, and for what reason? Zachary sold out to stop the run and did a tremendous job contained Jordan Hayes and Dylone Brooks. Josh Brantley, who you have criticized incessantly, stepped up and made huge play after huge play with his legs and his arm. Ruston's coaches adjusted to what Zachary was doing well. That's why Zachary lost, not because of Hudson Spangler or Caleb Gonzales.

I agree this loss should not be put on a 17 year old playing his heart out. They had some chances to score and didnt get it done.I think the coaches felt it was there best chance to win.No coach is gonna not play who he thinks is his best in a state championship.Ruston is huge up front and Gonzalas is 5'8.I think he will be a very good qb next year but we are not at practice everyday.

St. Aug, who went 2-8, almost killed him. He could not move the ball at all. One thing he is right about though is Zachary’s scheme. They did nothing with Holstein last year. It’s not a QB problem, it’s a scheme problem. They have got to address it.

It’s not a QB problem, it’s a scheme problem. They have got to address it. Against EA he came in during a 0-0 game late 2nd quarter and they scored 17 straight points to go up 17-0 in under 3 minutes left in the 1st half. Against dutchtown he came in down 7-0 and a stale offense and scored all 13 of their points leading to Saturdays continuation. Against Destrehan he came in and led them to two straight touchdowns in under 3 minutes to give them a 21-7 lead after a tie game. Yet you want to pick 1 game out of 14 and blow it up as some macro example. Deceitful. Every QB has a bad game. EVERY qb. You take his production out of those games mentioned they are no different than last night. I can always tell those who don't watch poop and who does. Those who follow programs and those who don't. Kid has come in ALL season and led zachary on multiple scoring drives. As for Brantley he was the best player on the field last night. That 1st possession after halftime he looked and played better than at any point all season. Kid grew up fast and showed out for his team and program. Also #8 played better than he did all season. OL PR better than they have all year as well. Ruston played very well on offense in 2nd half. Credit to the entire staff. I know zachary left point on the field. The aforementioned games prove it. EA would have been 0-0 at half. Against Destrehan 7-7 at half. And dutchtown 0 points at half. Zachary never once mixed it up in the most important game of the season. Kid has proven he can play. Proven it. There is no discussion there or debate. It cost them points last night to those who know how he plays. Did it cost them the game? No. Two undisciplined penalties while Ruston was beginning to reel did. 9 yard run down to rustons 29 yard line or so with a tie game and then a selfish USlike penalty destroyed the drive. Next possession a big 3rd down stop for a field goal attempt was negated by a stupid selfish push in the back clearly after the play was over by #32. #13 didn't cost zacharh the game either. It isn't his fault whatsoever the staff chose to place him in spots like that. It's their job to make adjustments and change things. It wasn't boldens fault in 2017 when the staff refused to put kahmann in late as well. I'm just pointing out that in their biggest game they never did what they did all season long and worked, mix up their offense to what the defense is showing. Gonzales makes throws the other doesn't and sees the field differently as well. It was bunk coaching. And it cost them along with the unsportsmanlike penalties that were huge. That's all I will say left on the subject. Ruston won convincingly and offense was the best all season with Brantley playing exceptional. Ruston is back and not going anywhere and will be as good next year as well. Very happy for Ruston community and all. I love the program and community.
