Qualifications: A valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate with proper certification in assigned areas. Demonstrated competence in coaching. Additional criteria as the Board may require. Reports to: Principal Terms of Employment: 11 months Goal: To ensure and enable the coaching staff to carry out assigned duties. To coordinate and organize the philosophy, aim,and objectives of the Athletic Program. Provide opportunities for informing student and adult spectators of the rules, strategies, and penalties of various athletic contests. Enlist the support of student leaders in the development of sportsmanship programs. Work closely with the cheerleader sponsors in the techiques of sepectator management. Maintain a good relationship with the press; keep them well informed of the activities and the objectives of the program. Performance Responsibilities To supervise all sports activities, both practice and contest. To be responsible to the principal for all required forms, (medical, eligibility, etc.) business transactions, (purchases, monetary deposits, etc.) and general administration of the total Athletic Program. To attend workshops pertaining to discussions on the rules and by-laws of the L.H.S.A.A. to no t only gain a deeper insight to how the rules are administered but also to contribute constructive ideas on the ways good sportsmanship can best be exemplified throughout the area. To attend rules clinics that are conducted in relation to the individual sports in which the school participates and ensure that the coaches also attend these clinics. To assume responsibility for proper publicity and public relations for the athletic department. To provide sufficient faculty and police supervision for spectator control. To secure competent officials who will be completely satisfactory to both teams. To establish office procedure and management. To supervise equipment rooms, locks and lockers, shower room, med. room, etc. To oversee physical exams and conditioning safety and health practices. To assume responsibility for hosting games and tournaments. To develop awards procedure at individual schools.
