Hadn't been on in awhile, but I wasn't surprised at the Pochatoula loss. We are down a few kids right now including our best player and one of the state, Jordan Mathews, been struggling for awhile without him, lost at home to Liberty, neutral court to Southwood, close one at home against Neville and getting by because the district isn't great. Not sure when or if he'll be back, but he's a glaring hole against Ponchatoula, because he he's the better matchup for their big man. Neville tonight, Wossman tomorrow. Would not be surprised to lose one or both without him and on the road. Great info: Thanks for the post. I figured there must be a personnel issue. Will be watching the scoreboard tomorrow for the Wossman result. He back last night but did not start. Did not have Jones, our other big though but some of the younger guys stepped up and looked good last night. Getting everybody back, we should be ready for a run.

Wossman 67 Peabody 62 Wossman is going to be a tough out in the playoffs. You better have them at yours place. You not beating them at the purple spectrum. Hopefully this is the year they bring it home they have been close.

I saw him do that in the Sugar Bowl tourney final and lose that. Its been an achillles heel for years, he goes to 4 corners. If there was a shot clock, we'd probably have 3 or 4 more titles.

I think Chalmette has the best player in the bracket in Terren Coffil… she came from John Curtis to join a team that made the quarterfinals last year. We’re 16-5, but the power rating won’t be there to host more than game if we host any at all. she gives us a chance to make a run to state I’ll keep an eye on Chalmette. Apologies Clean… we had a home playoff game tonight and I skipped it for Valentines Day, and our girls lost by 22 to East Ascension. I have to make a few texts and find out what happened, but we wasted the great Terren Coffil’s senior year.

I saw a post on social media that referenced a higher seed in the New Orleans area getting upset. I feel like they were talking about Chalmette. The post was from the Bonnabel boys basketball coach. Sounds like Chalmette only had five players available because of Mardi Gras-related suspensions.

That was one of their football assistants… Micah Hagans is their boys basketball coach But yeah coach Shondra stood on her principles… though I would be interested in finding out their practice schedule over the holidays. She’s done this a few times now not playing a game for like two weeks before the playoffs. They had a playoff game in Shreveport a few years ago where they only brought five girls

Ponchatoula will beat Zachary. Ponchatoula will not only be playing to prove the Zachary-Liberty brawl didn't win them the title, but to avenge the 2021 football team's dome loss.

People know about Ponchy basketball. They are better this season than last. I don't see them being challenged in playoffs unless it is a team like New Iberia. I rarely say affirmatively that a team can or can't beat another with conviction, but I am telling you Zachary can't beat Ponchatouhla. Ain't happening.

Ponchatoula better hope they don’t see Slidell in the quarterfinals. Slidell is playing great basketball right now with some tough, close loses on the season. They gave Ponch all they wanted in the season. Outside of that, I think you are correct. Zachary and Ponch are the likely finalist this year. Still think my Bearcats will have a shot at Zachary in the quarterfinals. Going to be a tough challenge to beat them at ZHS.

Well, all top 8 seeds advance. Who do you think advances this Friday to the top 28?
Ruston (Homer pick but possible) Denham Springs
New Iberia Ponchatoulas (Really think Slidell has a chance)

New Iberia Ponchatoulas (Really think Slidell has a chance) What can Ruston expect from Zachary. I know with Green being ineligible was a big loss for them. Kudos to there coaching staff for having them as the #1 seed in the playoffs this year with that happening to them. Just trying to figure out what they have this year and is it tough playing in there gym. I know before the suspension of last years playoffs they were the back to back defending champs and were denied a chance to three peat. Also what do the other remaining teams have this year. Thanks for your feedback in advance!

Okay we’re in the final 8 for boys 5A Select and Non Select. Give me your updated champions. I don’t know to much about Zachary on the Non Select side. What can the Bearcats expect from them. I will add that Hudson the freshman was destructive in the paint against Zachary. I wonder how Zachary would’ve played with Green in the middle. Him not playing at all this year was a tremendous blow to their inside game and paint defense.

Having Green would have been a nice addition, but he played for East Feliciana last year and Zachary did just fine (before the brawl).

Natchitoches Central lost 3 of 5 at the end of the season but two were ot and the other was a 3-point loss at home to Airline.
I dropped them from the rankings, because two losses were to teams I thought they should beat in Airline and Parkway.
They turned that back around. And it’s a good district with Southwood and Captain Shreve

I can't help but be amazed at Ruston's Ahmad Hudson. That kid is a monster in football and basketball. Unbelievable that he and Dunham's Elijah Haven, another football and basketball super-athlete, are only freshmen. Louisiana is in for a treat the next three years.

He’s the son of former LSU basketball player and currently Lincoln Prep head basketball coach Antonio Hudson. I’ll make sure I follow Elijah Haven’s career as well.

I like New Iberia, Zachary, Ponchatoula & Ruston as the top four in the non-select boys division at the moment. Also considering Natchitoches-Central & Denham Springs In boys select, I have a top four of Liberty Magnet, STM, Captain Shreve and Alexandria with Pineville, Scotlandville, Southwood, St. Augustine and Jesuit under consideration. Brother Martin and Catholic-BR as sleepers, if you can call a defending state champ a sleeper. I'm very high on Scotlandville. I think they're trending upwards. Pineville has had some tough losses lately. In girls non-select, I have Walker, Parkway, Southside, Denham Springs as a top four with Haughton, Zachary and Natchitoches-Central on the bubble. Slidell is a darkhorse. In girls select, I have Huntington, John Curtis Christian, Carencro and Tioga. Liberty was REALLY good
